Hey people I'm back with another chapter of Journey to the Past, which I know realize is the title of one of my favorite songs from the Anastasia movie. Sorry it took me so long to get to this, I wrote a second chapter and found it unsatisfactory so I rewrote it, and that took a while. Anyway, Zyxwee asked about the parents of some of the children, Dunc and Zeke by name, so I will list the kids, whose names have been said in the story and their parents. As for your other question Zyxwee it will be answered later on in the story.
Keth- revealed in this chapter so I'll leave it as a surprise for now.
Dunc- Dad: Bixlow
Roscoe- Mom: Juvia Dad: Gray
Asuka- I should hope we would all know since she's cannon
Astra and Mikel- Dad should be obvious since they bare his last name. Dad: Romeo Mom: Wendy
Audi: Again one of the parents should be obvious since the last name is said. Mom: Erza Dad: Jellel (or however you spell that)
Kane: Same as Keth.
Zeke: Again last name. Mom: Yukio Dad: Sting
Felix: Mom: Cana Dad: Rogue (There is actually a story behind Felix and Emery being brothers, but I don't know if I'll get around to actually showing it in the story.)
Emery: Mom: Cana Dad: Braccus
So those are all the names so far, every time I bring up a new one I'll be sure to put their parentage in the author note at the beginning of the next chapter unless it says it.
I woke up to see the young version of a familiar face watching over me. I opened my mouth, I didn't know whether to shout in surprise or joy, but no sound came out. I tried to say something, anything, but it was useless. I'd lost my voice, most likely due to the time travel. "Wendy I believe she's awake." The small white cat told her partner. A young twelve year old Wendy rushed to my side.
"Are you alright?" that was an extremely stupid question and I opened my mouth to tell her as much and then recalled my missing voice. "Can you speak?" Wendy wondered looking concerned. I shook my head in answer. Wendy looked about worriedly. "I'm going to go get Mirajane. You stay here." Wendy said before taking off. Just where did she think I'd go?
Charle glared at me. She didn't trust me. Smart cat. "Who are you?" She growled. She knew I couldn't talk so why was she bothering to even ask? How was I to answer her? I thought about that and dug into one of the many pockets of my cargo pants. I was quick to notice they'd taken my tool belt. I pulled out a handful of what appeared to be black square shaped clips of some kind. However they were really machines infused with magic. These machines had been created when the gates between Edolas and Earthland had been established. I threw them up in the air. They quickly moved until they spelled out, MY NAME IS KETH. I didn't dare put my last name. They couldn't know I was from the future, not yet.
"Keth huh, do you have a last name?" Charle asked. I'd forgotten what an annoying exceed Charle could be. DO YOU HAVE A LAST NAME? My machines spelled out. Charle's eyes narrowed, but she said nothing. Wendy came back, Mirajane following behind her.
"It seems that her magic allows her to control those chips in her hands. She's been using them to talk to me." Charle told the two.
THEY'RE MAGICAL ITEMS, NOT MY MAGIC. My "chips" spelled out.
"Oh, do you have any magic?" Mirajane wondered.
YES I DO. I answered wondering what she was getting at. What did it matter if I was a mage or not?
"What kind?" Wendy asked with wide curious eyes. Just telling them what kind of magic I used, though rare as the occasion was where it actually came into play, would lead them to most likely figure out who I was, or at least the whole had to be a child of a guild member so I had to be from the future.
I DON'T LIKE USING IT SO I PREFER NOT TO TALK ABOUT IT. I answered. As the machines fell back into my hands I moved them from hand to hand out of nervous habit. Wendy nodded as if she understood.
"Come on. Let's introduce you to the rest of the guild." Wendy said grabbing my free hand and pulling me out of bed. Mirajane still looked guarded and I could tell she still didn't trust me. Though why when she was supposed to be the open hearted nice one of the guild is what I didn't get. Wendy dragged me all the way down to the main area of the guild hall where everyone was gathered. "Guys! She woke up! This is-" Wendy faltered as she realized she didn't know my name.
KETH. My machines supplied before returning to my hand.
"Keth, that's a pretty name." Mom said. It took everything I had to remain emotionless. Levy McGarden, the mother I hadn't seen in four years.
"Yeah, but we don't know if we can trust her yet." Dad grumbled. Well that stung, but I made no comment, I wouldn't give away the truth.
"Indeed. Keth what is that mark on your stomach?" The old man asked. My hand flew to the mark in question. It was high on my stomach just under my chest. My tank top covered my entire torso, how had they seen it? It didn't much matter of course, they'd seen it. It was the mark of the Tiger Fairies, the guild all of us had created as refuge when our parents disappeared.
IT IS THE GUILD MARK Of A GUILD THAT DOES NOT EXIST. I answered after a bit of thought. Kane could probably come up with something better, but he wasn't here. This just seemed to confuse everybody. DO NOT OVERTHINK IT. IT IS MERELY SOMETHING MY BROTHERS And MY FRIENDS CREATED AS A TYPE OF GAME. Ok so the game bit was a lie, but other than that I was being completely honest.
"Your brothers? How many do you have?" Natsu demanded looking way too happy. Then again I expected nothing else, that was Natsu for you, he accepted everybody, unless of course you proved yourself to be an enemy.
I HAVE TWO, KANE and KALE. I answered already feeling right at home, but I couldn't let my guard down just yet.
LEVY
For some reason this girl, Keth, who had fallen through the guild hall ceiling unnerved me. She seemed rather comfortable around most of the others, but she kept glancing at me and Gajeel, why?
"Keth, why did you fall through our ceiling?" I asked looking the girl over. She wore a worn and slight tattered black hat in the shape of cat ears over long tangled wavy blue hair and her blood red eyes seemed to soak in everything and anylise(SP) it. Maybe it was the way she reminded me of the two guild members who'd once been a part of Phantom Lord. Keth's outfit consisted of a black tank top that revealed the top of a scar that appeared to cut her torso in half, black cargo pants with lots of pockets, black fingerless gloves, and combat boots.
Keth's eyebrows knitted together in confusion. She opened her mouth to say something and then must have remembered the fact she had no voice. She shook her head and closed her eyes, which seemed brighter than they had been at first. The magic items in her hands flew up and separated one for each person. The one headed straight for me latched on to my neck with a feeling like being bit by a mosquito.
Sorry if that stung a bit just figured it'd be a bit easier if I could project my thoughts into your heads instead of you having to read my every long winded sentence. A soft almost childlike voice spoke inside my mind. The sounds of her words were twisted a bit so they sounded strange.
"Project your thoughts into our heads?" Lucy asked in alarm.
It's perfectly harmless I assure you. And it's simple enough to turn them off if you really want to. Keth answered with a shrug.
"Really? Because it isn't coming off." Gajeel snapped trying to pull the small black device from the spot on his neck where it had landed.
Just hit the self-destruct button. Keth thought with a roll of her eyes. Natsu was quick to hit the button. The device simply fell off. Natsu stared at it for almost a full minutes, in which nothing happened, before he slapped it back on and tried again.
"Idiot." Gray muttered as Natsu repeated this process sever times.
"Why isn't it destructing?" I asked in confusion. Keth smiled widely as if she was just waiting for someone to ask that question.
The 'self-destruction' button is merely the off button 'mislabeled' to deter those who are not familiar with my devices from messing with it. Keth explained looking very pleased with herself.
"Well do any of your devices self-destruct?" Evergreen asked.
I think that's something I'll keep to myself for now. Keth informed her as she shoved her hands into the front pockets of her cargo pants. She frowned. Can I have my tool belt back? She asked as though she was lost without it.
"If you're a mage why do you use magical items and a tool belt?" Mirajane questioned. Keth looked at her with several emotions swirling about in those crimson eyes of hers.
My father decided to pass his magic onto me however I prefer not to use it for fear of failing him. So instead of using magic I work with machines. Keth answered as one hand went up to fiddle with one of the multiple earrings in her left ear. Natsu, Lucy, and a few others looked at Keth as if they understood what she was going through and felt as if she fit right in already.
"Please forgive us if we don't trust easily, but do you mind if we search your tool belt?" Mirajane questioned. Why was she being so suspicious of Keth? Did she get the same unsettling feeling I did?
Go ahead, just please be careful. I have some fragile projects in there. Keth replied. Mirajane nodded and pulled said tool belt out and proceeded to dump its contents on the bar. There was a gold pocket watch, a silver locket, tiny screwdrivers, glasses, a thermos that seemed too big for the tool belt, a pill bottle which appeared to be full, and other miscellaneous items.
"Where'd you get the watch and the locket?" Erza inquired.
The watch was given to me by a…. Friend and the locket is something is something I'm making for my mum. Keth said. She looked at the locket as if it pained her. Had something happened to her mother?
"What's with the pills and the thermos?" Canna questioned. Keth scowled as if she'd rather not think of those items in question.
The pills are supplements in case I ever decided to use my magic, however they're for emergencies only. As for what's in the thermos I'm willing to bet blue prints.
