Here's the second chapter! My favorite one in the whole story... Enjoy!
Disclaimer: Dan Povenmire and Jeff "Swampy" Marsh own Phineas and Ferb.
Ferb Fletcher
Ferb Fletcher knew. Of course he knew. Perry's little secret. He wouldn't dare tell anyone though. Ferb knew the reason why it was kept classified in the first place. Perry would have to be relocated to another family, which meant no more Perry for the Flynn-Fletchers. He didn't speak much anyways, so it wasn't difficult to suppress the urge to reveal his interesting theory that Perry was a secret agent. The only place this would be discussed would be Ferbland, and that's how it will stay. It was so obvious, but Phineas didn't realize it (not that he was very good at picking up hints). If only Phineas had listened… but no, as far as he knows, Ferb was the one who built the underground headquarters and the evil villain lair. He was the one who arranged their mission to save Candace, even though he was not. He would never build something if Phineas was not there. They did everything together, and on those rare occasions they didn't, Ferb would end up knowing about it anyways.
The wide room the mysterious tree tunnel had lead to was not Ferb's doing. He had found the platypus-themed lair suspicious. Platypus-sized equipment had surrounded them on all sides. And the fact that it was teal colored made it very familiar. Agent P most likely stood for Agent Perry; the unknown man didn't know of Phineas, not that Ferb knew of. Who else could it be besides their very own Perry? He was never around during the day. Who knew what adventures a platypus could be up to?
He could have sworn he saw a glimpse of brown on Perry's head once or twice or thrice, along with unusual happenings in the backyard. Ferb's intuition told him it was a fedora. There was also something in his subconscious that also agreed with him… though he wasn't sure what. It could have been possible that Perry was working for a top secret organization. He had even crossed the Atlantic Ocean and tracked them down on the vast continent of Africa, even though he was left home with Grandpa Clyde and Grandma Betty Jo during the trip. Candace had wanted to talk about it, but everyone else had agreed that it was a mystery of this exotic species; that the platypuses had made the meaning of impossible nonexistent.
Pet or secret agent, Ferb still loved him and Perry returns the affection no less. They both remembered the times when he was little Bartholomew. The bonds had grown stronger since then. A bond of family, companionship, and protection. The boys had dedicated a sweet serenade to the platypus. How worried they had been when Perry was gone during breakfast. He had loved Phineas and Ferb equally; proving that by waking up and switching between their beds in the middle of the night.
Perry would do everything in his power to stop Phineas and Ferb from being harmed. The main reasons he had worked for the O.W.C.A. were to fight evil and to always keep his boys safe. If Perry ever needed help in protecting them, he had the whole agency, being their best agent. Ferb rarely talks, but that doesn't mean Perry can't understand him. Platypuses have amazing animal instincts. He would feel what Ferb felt, as well as Phineas. Perhaps Perry also knew that Ferb knew, but trusts him enough to keep it as hush hush as it was before.
Ferb believed in Perry, that he was the best pet ever. Always there to brighten up the mood. A platypus would totally put any party (or intimate get-together) over the edge. He also served as inspiration for some of their best projects. An inaction figure which does absolutely nothing, while being able to be absolutely anything. Chez Platypus: one of the most trendiest restaurants of all time. The Perrytronic 3000 could never replace their Perry, but Perryless boys had to do something. "Unlike a real platypus, which doesn't do much, the Perrytronic 3000's capabilities will be limitless!" Ferb would have agreed with the immeasurable possibilities of Perrytronic 3000 and the fact that platypuses don't do much, but not if Phineas was referring to Perry not doing much. Perry knew how to carpe diem as much as they did. With just a glance at his spectacular lair, one could tell it was of a savvy agent, the awe-inspiring Agent P.
What about the unknown superhero that helped the gang and the superheroes defeat those villains? Ferb was convinced that he was a anthropomorphic platypus, with the beaver tail and all. Oddly enough, when Buford took the mask off the hero, the face of Ducky Momo was revealed. Yet, it made the most sense that it was Perry. He was a secret agent, after all. What are the chances of him being a superhero too? Perry appeared next to them right after 'Ducky Momo' flew off.
Perry was a mindless pet, an astonishing secret agent who knew how to get the job done, a fierce superhero, and undoubtedly, the most popular platypus in the world. Even if Phineas and Ferb were technically Agent P's cover, they also thought of each other as family. No day would be complete without a "Where's Perry?" and a "Oh, there you are, Perry." Ferb admired his undying loyalty as the family pet, always looking out for them. Maybe Phineas was wrong. Perry was, of course, more than a platypus.
Now how was that? Don't forget to review, my dearest readers! I love all the feedback I get!
