"I need you to come in."

"Why?"

"I can't tell you over the phone. I'll brief you when you're here." The line cut dead and Vik sighed, turning to Kylie and Jez.

"Charlie needs us at the office."

"Why?" Kylie looked up from picking the cucumber out of her sandwich.

"He didn't say. Just said to come as soon as."

"Aint' even had lunch yet." Jez murmured eyeing the empty food wrappers that lay discarded over the table.

"I'm sure you won't waste away, big boy." Kylie grinned, patting his stomach lightly.

--

Charlie stood up from his computer screen when he saw them, a frown creasing his forehead. "Head office is sending you three on an appliance skills course."

"Why?" Jez shot out. His face had crumpled in confusion and he took a sideways glanced at his friends, looking from confirmation of his uncertainty. Vik's expression matched his in puzzlement, but Kylie's eyes had narrowed and a flush of anger had started to creep up her cheeks.

"I requested leave next week."

"And I'm sorry, but their refusing to budge. I even tried appealing to Yates's better nature." Charlie grimaced slightly and Kylie let out a frustrated sigh.

"When do we leave?"

"There's a car waiting outside."

"Now? Bit sudden isn't it?" Vik frowned. "Don't you think it's just a little weird – I mean why just us three?"
"Rob's needed here for the Benoit mission and Rachel and I have been signed up for a later course." Charlie shrugged, shuffling from one foot to another. "The course is six days, so you'll only miss four days of your leave." He glanced at Kylie and she shook her head slightly.

"Its fine, not you fault."

"We get time to pack right?" Jez, who had been staring out of the window watching the poster laboriously extract letters from the bright red pillar box on the corner, suddenly snapped back into the conversation looking slightly shaken. "Cause I've got these new trainers and…" Charlie watched amused as each of his colleagues took one of his arms steering him towards the doors, still talking loudly and occasionally shooting a glare at Kylie when she cracked a joke about "his boys in da' hood".

--

The driver had refused to let any of them sit in the front, resulting in all three of them being squashed and partly on top of one another in the back seat.

"I still don't see why I had to sit in the middle." Kylie pouted, tugging her demin skirt down her legs slightly.

Vik raised an eyebrow. "Cause you're the smallest…and I enjoy the view." His expression turned mischievous and he glanced purposely at her cleavage and then lowered his gaze to her legs. Kylie glanced round for something to throw and him.

Jez grinned, watching Kylie give up her search and instead punch him good naturedly in the chest.

"Keep your eyes off, young man."

Slowly the car made its way out of the busy Manchester streets staying into countryside. Jez wrinkled his nose and sighed.
"I hate the countryside. It's just so…green."

Kylie and Vik exchanged a look. "Are you sure your okay, mate?"

Jez rolled his eyes turning back to the window. "Course. Just think of what it could have been. All that space…rather than cramming people up in the city."

"What just bulldozers down the tree's and stick a few high streets in?" Kylie grinned impishly and Vik sniggered slightly.

"You know what I mean." Jez huffed.

Two hours later….

The car pulled to a slow halt outside wrought iron gates. Vik and Jez exchanged a glance. The gates were preceded by something which might have been a driveway, only no house could be seen at the end, just more driveway which finally twisted left and disappeared from view round a hill.

"Kylie?" Vik murmured, her head long ago had bounced onto his shoulder, giving in to the weight of her eyelids.

"Hm…?"

"We're…here."

"Here?" She didn't move just craned her neck up at him. "Where exactly is here?"

"We…aren't sure."

Gently she pulled herself into a sitting position. "Fuck. We're drove four hours for this?"

"Alright. Get out." From the front, the driver turned slightly, giving the three spooks a hard look, grizzly pieces of skin crinkling like orange peel over his chins and cheeks. None of them moved. "I said out."

"We heard." Jez muttered flatly. Heavily, he reached out and slid out the car, Kylie and Vik following his lead. Pulling their bags out of the boot and regard the driver stonily.

"Where exactly are we?"

"Just follow the drive and it'll lead you to the house." He jiggled the gear stick into first and pulled away, leaving the three spooks faced with a very long walk.

I'm hoping to turn this into Kylie/Vik I just need to think of a way…hm…
