"I've thought about this for a while..." Amber said. "I think i'll choose the one who matches my um...hot temper as my mom said hehe." She said picking up Coalcalf. "I choose you"

"Coalcalf? COALCALF COAL!" It cheered happy. Amber smiled as well before Chasen walked past her.

"In that case. You're coming with me" He pointed to Nasplash.

"Splash splash. Nasplash" The snake pokemon hissed. The two trainers were given pokeballs as Amber smiles and looks at Chasen.

"Have fun on your journey Chasen. Maybe we can have a battle"

"Battle with you? Don't make me laugh" Chasen said coldly. "If you know whats good for you, stay out of my way little girl" He walked away coldly.

'I think we're the same age but...whatever' Amber thought to herself. They heard huffing and panting as a young boy, 10 years old, ran in. He had a blue jacket, blue and white striped shirt, black jeans and black boots. His hair was short and black. He had green eyes and glasses.

"Sorry...i'm late...professor...Redwood" The boy panted.

"Ah! Jasper" The professor said. Amber looked at the boy. They had been friends for 5 years.

"Jasper! Look look!" Amber smiled as she held up Coalcalf.

"Oh wow. You chose Coalcalf. Cool!" Jasper said, petting the ox pokemon.

"Sorry Jasper. We only have one left" Redwood jestered towards Tribranch, who looked sad that he hadn't been picked.

"Tribranch? Yes! He's the one I wanted!" Jasper cheered. The pokemon looked up shocked and jumped into his arms

"TRI! TRIBRANCH BRANCH!" The two of them hugged. The professor giggled at the cute scene.

"Alright you 4. Here you go" He gives them both 6 pokeballs-one of them being their starter's. "And the Pokedex. Your not a trainer without one" She said giving them each a Pokedex. It was slicker, had a large screen and was collapsible to be the size of a cell phone. Jasper's was blue and Amber's was yellowish red. "I had one for Chasen but he left before I could give it to him. If you find him, can you give it to him?" Redwood gave Amber another pokedex-this one being black. "But with that being said: Enjoy your adventure!" The two friends not and left the lab. Jasper tapped Amber on the shoulder

"Hey Amber. We both have pokemon now right?"

"Yeah?"

"Well then what better way to celebrate? We battle! And officially mark ourselves as trainers!" Jasper said standing ready.

"Oh your on!" Amber smiled. "Ready to go Coalcalf?"

"Coalcalf!" The ox nodded and got into a battle ready stance.

"Lets do this Tribranch!"

"Branch!" The pokemon nodded. Professor Redwood walked out.

"The first pokemon battle is one to remember." The professor said. "Alright. I'll be the judge. This will be a one on one battle. The first pokemon to be knocked out loses. Now you may begin!"

"Tribranch! Tackle!" Jasper orders. The triceratops charges forward.

"Coalcalf counter with your own Tackle!" Amber ordered. Her ox charges forward. The two pokemon butt heads and push each other backwards. "Ember!" The pokemon launched a small fire at the triceratops.

"Dodge it! Then use Leafage!" Jasper ordered. Tribranch jumped over the fire and shot a small leaf from one of his horns. Coalcalf takes it but doesnt move. "Ah! I forgot that's not very effective!"

"That's right! Ember again!" Amber smiled. Coalcalf fired another fire. Tribranch tried to dodge but got hit by it, making it wince in pain. "Tackle!" Coalcalf tackled Tribranch, sending him toppling over. "And to finish it, one more tackle!" The ox nods and tackles Tribranch one last time, knocking it out.

"Tribranch is unable to battle. Coalcalf is the winner. Amber, you win!" Redwood said.

"Wow Amber..." Jasper said in awe. "Your a natural at this"

"Thanks Jasper" Amber smiled, rubbing her head. They healed their pokemon, then turned to look at the pathway before them. The first route. And the first step on their pokemon adventure.
