I Just Need You By My Side
Chapter 2
Arguments and Determination
"Is that a challenge? Yagami?"
"Hmm… who knows?" Taichi said as he finally released the blonde.
"…You're wasting your time, Taichi-san. You're not gonna like this." Takeru tried to warn him again. But it seemed it wasn't taken seriously by the brunet, evident by the smirk plastered on Taichi's face as he patted Takeru's head.
"Like I said. Who knows, Takeru? Who knows?"
'Beep Beep! Beep Beep! Beep Beep! Beep…'
The sound of the alarm came blaring into the room, prompting a hand to lazily remove itself from the warm covers of the blanket and reach for the annoying alarm. After short seconds of fumbling around, the lazy hand finally offed the alarm. The hand then returned to the comfortable and warm protection of the blanket, only to help remove the blanket before a pair of cerulean-blue eyes half opened to look up at the clock or more specifically, the green-colored digits on it telling the time.
7.35a.m. Time to get up, I guess.
With that, Takeru finally got up, yawned and stretched before slowly plodded towards the bathroom to begin his usual school morning routine of taking a shower and brushing his teeth. After wiping his face dry again, Takeru stared himself in the mirror again, or more specifically, the faint red mark on his neck. Takeru lifted his hand to lightly tip his fingers on it. The weekend had passed since his incident with Taichi, and the hickey Taichi had left on him was beginning to fade away. Takeru sighed as relief began to fill him. For looking at the suspicious red spot could only made him blush every time he looked at it and remembered what happened and what Taichi had said that totally blew his mind off…
"Can't you tell? I'm seducing you."
"I've decided, Takeru. Doesn't matter if you don't love me right now; 'cause I'm gonna make you love me back, from now on, and nothing, not even you, is gonna stop me."
And the worst thing was, Taichi had kissed him! And to further make matters worse, it had been his freaking first kiss! And come to think of it, Taichi could have already taken all of Takeru's first-times during his drunken state last Friday night! Argh… no way I'm letting that bastard know though!
"Takeru?" the gentle voice of a woman suddenly came, breaking Takeru of his thoughts. "Takeru, are you alright in there?"
"H-Hai!" Takeru quickly replied, realizing that he might have been taking his time too long in the bathroom. "I'm fine, kaa-san! Heading out real soon!"
"Alright, just to let you know breakfast is ready!"
"Okay, thanks!" Heaving another sigh, Takeru finally walked out of the bathroom, changed into his high school uniform, and headed down to the kitchen table to have his breakfast before leaving for school.
-**Line Break**-
It wasn't long when Takeru found himself at the ground level below his home, together with a bespectacled bright purple-haired girl, Miyako and a green-eyed brown-haired boy, Iori walking to school together as usual. The trio had been neighbors since elementary school and no one would be surprised that the three of them are also in the same high school, with Miyako entering her last year before university while Iori had just started his as a freshman. Takeru, with the usual smile on his face, listened to Iori asking Miyako about computers again as his family seemed to be planning to get a new one when suddenly he felt himself blinded, by a pair of hands covering his eyes from behind.
"Who am I?" sang a cheerful voice of a girl.
Takeru sighed before he answered. "Hikari-chan…" Takeru removed the hands from his eyes to turn around to come face to face with a pair of red eyes and brown hair, with its fringe held up by a hair clip. His best friend, Hikari smiled brightly as she stepped back and moved her hands behind her back.
"Good morning, Takeru-kun!" Hikari greeted cheerfully to the blonde and then waved to the other two behind him. "And to you two too!"
Miyako was the first to greet Hikari with equal enthusiasm. "Ah, good morning, Hikari-chan!"
"Good morning Hikari-san," Iori greeted as he bowed down. "But why are you here this morning?" Iori asked, as everyone knew that Hikari lived down the streets of their houses, which was closer to their school.
"Well that's because onii-chan offered to bring me to school today!" with those words as a cue, a car horn was sounded, causing everyone to look up and see a black Nissan car. Everyone looked at it with pleasant surprise, except for Takeru, who paled as he saw who was in its driver's seat.
"Hey guys, what's up?" Taichi waved to his sister's friends as he greeted them as well.
-**Line Break**-
"Wow Taichi-san! Your car is so cool! When did you have it?" asked Miyako in excitement as she kept exploring the car with her eyes and hands on the leather seats while Taichi was driving. Taichi laughed at her excitement.
"Just came yesterday."
"But doesn't it cost a bomb?" asked Miyako again as she sat up and held onto the head-rest of the passenger seat in front where Hikari was sitting, who was watching her friend being unable to contain her excitement.
"Well my dad and I managed to save up for quite a while. Thought our family should have one, seeing how my university was pretty far from our house. Dad can use it to drive to work too since he doesn't like the subway."
"Wow… that's so cool…"
"Well of course! Since it's really convenient and all! Not to mention I can impress all the girls and stuff and perhaps go on a date or something!" Taichi exclaimed in excitement and stopped at a red light. "Isn't that right, Takeru?" Taichi turned around with a big smile as he said the name to look at the one mentioned. He found Takeru in a position telling him he was looking out at the window with his chin resting on his palm, but now his eyes turned to glare sharply at the brunet. Say anything unnecessary and I'll kill you.
However, Taichi's smile didn't faltered, as if waiting for him to answer. Though Takeru didn't seem to have any intention to do that as his eyes were soon back to the outside.
"… The traffic light's green now, Taichi-san," Takeru said as Taichi turned back and started driving again, and it wasn't long where everyone found themselves exiting the car and at the school gates.
"Thanks for the ride, Taichi-san!" Miyako waved enthusiastically.
"Thank you very much for the ride," Iori bowed.
"Thanks, onii-chan, I'll see you after school," said Hikari as she joined her two friends. Taichi waved as he looked at his sister entering the school with Miyako and Iori, and then stopped as he saw Takeru strode past his car and headed towards his school, seemingly to avoid any eye contact with him.
"Hey, Takeru-chan," Taichi quickly said before Takeru could walk till a distance he couldn't reach.
Takeru stopped and turned to look at Taichi with a look of annoyance. "'Chan'?" Taichi chuckled at the reaction.
"Thought that was the only way to get your attention," Taichi said with another of his big, goofy smile on his face. Takeru growled as he narrowed his eyes and glared hard at the brunet, his irritation obvious.
"Don't do that," Takeru snarled, almost found himself couldn't keep his anger at bay. "What the hell do you want?"
"Oh come on, don't be like that!" Taichi pouted, giving a hurt look. "I just gave you a ride, you know. At least I deserve a 'thank you', don't I?"
Glaring at Taichi for some time, Takeru realized that the university student was right, and he heaved a sigh before he stood up straight and bowed down like Iori. "Thank you very much for the ride."
"Aww… no kiss for me?" Takeru twitched at the annoyingly playful tone of his best friend's brother.
"In your dreams, Yagami," Takeru stood up straight as he stood up and turned to join his friends.
"I'll see you again soon! Takeru-chan!" Takeru twitched in obvious annoyance again, before turning to see Taichi already driving off. Takeru glared at the car driving away as if it could cause it to explode in flames.
"Dammit Taichi!"
-**Line Break**-
The sound of a sliding door dragging across caused Takeru and Hikari to look up, and landed their eyes on a goggled burgundy-haired kid dragging his feet across the classroom, finally finding comfort on his chair beside one of the windows. The blonde and brunette watched with curiosity and confusion as Daisuke immediately had his head and arms land ungracefully on his desk.
"Daisuke-kun? Are you alright?" the kind brunette immediately asked. Finding the burgundy sleeping in class was common, but before class was not. Daisuke slowly and sloppily moved his head up, surprising both his friends with half-closed slightly red eyes, dark circles under them and the lifeless expression he had on his face. It was apparent that he didn't get much or none sleep at all.
"Ah, good morwwing, Hikari-chan, Takeru," Daisuke managed to greet as he yawned and stretched. But his arms and head immediately fell back into their comfort on the table.
"What happened to you? Didn't sleep much last night?" it probably took up the rest of his energy for Daisuke to lift up his head again, and then turned to face and point his finger at Takeru in front of him.
"More like the whole of the weekend, thanks to that brother of yours!"
"Huh?" Takeru looked at Daisuke with a mixture of surprise and confusion as Daisuke released his hand from hanging and letting it fall to rest in the air.
"Thanks to Yamato announcing his marriage to Sora… that nee-san of mine got all depressed… and then saying something about I as her brother can't possibly abandoned her in these times of her needs…" Daisuke's head fell on the table again and began mumbling. "Thanks to that I was forced to play two whole nights of TV and computer games with her… honestly I didn't think she will go insomnia when she's rejected and get all… depressed… on… me…" Daisuke mumbled as his voice began fading.
"Oh, that's right. Your nee-san is a big fan of Yamato right?" Hikari said as if she just realized this.
"Yeah…" and with that sounds of snores were heard, with Takeru watching in tension. And apparently the blonde didn't realize he was in a daze till he was called repeatedly by Hikari.
"Are you alright, Takeru-kun?" Hikari asked the question for the second time, which Takeru trying to brush her off with his usual smile and 'I'm alright' answer. "Oh! That's right! Everyone's planning to head to my house after school today to study for our upcoming summer tests! Do you want to join us?"
"Hikari… I'll love to," replied Takeru with his usual smile, but it was quickly replaced with an apologetic expression. "But, I've got basketball practice, so I'm afraid I'll have to disappoint…"
"Oh, okay. Guess we'll try next time," Hikari replied with a smile, but an emotion of disappointment didn't go unnoticed by Takeru.
"I'm sorry, Hikari," Takeru apologized as he placed his hand on her shoulder. "Next time, alright?"
It was then the school bell signaling the start of homeroom period, with their homeroom teacher promptly entering the classroom on time and the whole class stood and greeted under the cue of the class' prefect. Well, the whole class except for one…
"Motomiya! Wake up!"
-**Line Break**-
Takeru sighed in relief as he finally left the male changing room. Today's practice was as hardcore as ever and right now Takeru wanted so much to just head into the shower and onto the bed. But before that, he needed to finish his homework and catch up with his studies for the next summer tests and-
"Yo! Takeru!" said blonde jumped when he heard someone calling him while he was deep in thoughts. He recognized the voice, and winced when he saw the familiar brunet waving at him with a mischievous smile on his face while leaning on his car. Takeru froze for a moment, before growling in annoyance and continued walking.
"Why the hell are you here?" Takeru walked up to Taichi and demanded angrily. Taichi shrugged off the angry tone and continued to smile goofily.
"Just thought of inviting you for dinner," Taichi replied. "I've reserved a table at the famous French restaurant down the road. Come on." Taichi said as he turned and opened his car door to the front passenger seat cuing the blonde to enter. However, Takeru got more annoyed with his actions instead.
"And since when did I agree to this?" Takeru refused to move a step, folding his arms and glared at the brunet.
"Oh come on! It's my treat! There's no loss for you at all if you go along with my plans right?"
"No way," Takeru insisted, and turned to walk away from the brunet who seemed troubled with the situation.
"Wait a minute! Take… ru?" Taichi was about to chase the blonde till the blonde himself stopped. He noticed that Takeru seemed to be in a state of shock, his expression stunned and body petrified. Taichi knew something was wrong, and quickly turned to face whatever Takeru was looking right now.
And Taichi too, immediately stunned at his view.
"Yamato?" Taichi whispered, more to himself as he finally took in the information that standing right before them was the blonde rock superstar in a cap and a pair of sunglasses hiding his face. Taichi quickly turned to check on the younger blonde, and then mentally cursed for Yamato's untimely appearance.
"Hey there, Takeru, Taichi," Yamato greeted them as he took off his sunglasses to reveal his cerulean-blue eyes. "Though I would really like to ask why would Taichi be doing here?" Yamato asked as he raised an eyebrow.
"Hey! That should be my line! Shouldn't you be with Sora right now?"
Unknowingly to Taichi, the younger blonde gasped softly when he heard this, waking him up from his daydream of shock from seeing his brother.
"Relax, Taichi," Yamato replied calmly. "Sora's fine; Mimi's with her right now. There's no need to get so worked up. I don't think it's anything serious at all."
"Are you seriously saying that? She fucking fainted! Should you be saying that about your fiancée?"
"Well that's-"
"Wait a minute," Takeru interrupted, slightly surprising the two elder ones. "Sora-san's sick?"
"She's alright. From what I heard from her kaa-san, she fainted in the morning while making breakfast. Chances that she's just overworking her body and not having enough food and sleep. She'll be alright once she had sufficient rest and proper medication." It was then Yamato sternly turned and looked towards Taichi. "So I don't see the point of me getting worked up. You're just exaggerating things, Taichi."
It was as if those words were the trigger, causing Taichi to glare at Yamato while stomping his feet towards the elder blonde and grabbing the front of his shirt.
"Are you still saying that?" Taichi growled, looking closely and fiercely into his eyes. "In case you've forgotten, all of us were there when the doctor was talking to us. The doctor had mentioned about the possibility of Sora being psychologically stressed up AND pregnant. So isn't it crucial that you are by her side right now?"
Taichi continued to glare, but it seemed it didn't affect Yamato at all, who just calmly look into his chocolate brown eyes and sighed, shrugging off Taichi's anger.
"I wouldn't worry about that," Yamato calmly exclaimed with no hint of worry at all. "Sora and I hadn't done anything, so it's impossible for her to get pregnant. Unless…" Yamato's voice began faded as his eyes narrowed suspiciously onto Taichi's.
"What?" Yamato's change in expression didn't go unnoticed by Taichi.
"You seemed awfully very concerned with Sora's condition, aren't you? Seeing that she is my girlfriend, why are you, getting so worked up for?" Taichi's eyes widened and froze for a moment at what Yamato was saying, or more like suggesting…
But that one moment was all Yamato needed to reverse the situation. He quickly grabbed Taichi's wrist and yanked it off him, grabbing Taichi's shirt in return.
"Unless there's something going on between the two of you, there's should be no reason at all for you to be so overly concerned," Yamato said as he tightened his hold and it was his turn to narrow his eyes angrily onto Taichi.
"What?! H-How could you-"
"Don't think I didn't know," Yamato growled as Taichi attempted to argue back. "I have people telling me they saw you entering Sora's house on last night; and coincidentally, her kaa-san wasn't at home."
"Hey! What the hell are you talking about! You're telling me you're suspecting me and Sora-"
"That's right Taichi. For whatever reasons you were with her last night, I don't care. But right now I thought it's best that I warned you to STAY AWAY from her if you know what's good for you," Yamato angrily exclaimed as he roughly released Taichi from his hold, with Taichi being pushed back as a result.
However, the brunet seemed to be very upset.
"H-How could you say such a thing?" Taichi said, apparent that his body was shaking in anger and his menacing voice showing that he was trying to hold back as much anger as possible. "It's true that I was with Sora last night, but that gives you no right to talk about her like that! Sora, she's-"
"Why won't you just shut up, Taichi," Yamato cut in, his interruption and tone greatly shocked but upset Taichi. "I don't want to hear anymore. You've said more than enough. I get it. You and Sora are together. I see it. Congratulations."
That was the last straw.
"Yamato! You bast-" Taichi was about to get ready to give the elder blonde a good punch, but was stunned into a stop when he felt a hand pulling his arm. Yamato had expected the reaction from the brunet, and was ready to defend himself but was petrified too when he saw his little brother quickly holding onto the brunet to stop his fist. Both Yamato and Taichi could only stare at the younger blonde in shock, as if they had forgotten all about him in their conversation.
"T-Takeru?" Yamato said in shocked at his little brother.
Awkward silence followed, but was soon broken when the younger blonde gave a heavy and obvious sigh.
"Nii-san," Takeru finally voiced out, addressing his brother as calmly and as monotonously as he could. "Serious or not, I really think you should be staying by Sora-san's side right now instead of being here. By the way, why were you here in the first place?"
Yamato watched his brother in half shock and awe, almost missing his question meant for him. Yamato quickly broke his daze, clearing his throat once before answering.
"W-Well, as for that… I was looking for you, Takeru."
"Me?" Takeru whispered, surprised.
"That's right," Yamato replied as he looked at his brother, who seemed to be refusing to meet his eyes. "I was more worried about you. You've been avoiding my calls these days, and when I went over on Saturday kaa-san was saying you weren't feeling well. Since today I was walking by, I thought I could maybe find you in school."
"I-I see…"
"Are you alright, Takeru?" Yamato asked, apparently in the overly protective brother mode. But only silence followed, with Takeru kept looking down. Taichi, whose arm was still held by Takeru, could suddenly feel the young blonde tightening his hold and he looked down at the younger blonde in concern.
"Takeru?"
Just as both university students got very worried about the younger blonde and the tensed atmosphere, Takeru suddenly looked up, surprising both his brother and the brunet, with his usual charming smile.
"But I'm fine, nii-san!" Takeru exclaimed cheerfully, with Yamato being rather shocked about it. "Sorry about Saturday, was having a pretty bad hangover from the night before, so I requested kaa-san that unless it's an emergency, don't let anyone disturb me at all. I didn't know you went all the way to check me out. Sorry about that, nii-san. But don't worry, I'm perfectly fine right now."
Yamato looked at his younger brother skeptically as Takeru explained, but after some time it seemed he decided not to pursue further, so he just sighed.
"I see… if that's the case, then I won't worry anymore," Yamato said and walked towards Takeru and Taichi, but keeping his eyes only on his younger brother. "Hey, I know. Takeru, you hungry? Shall we have dinner together? Since kaa-san and tou-san are not at home right now…"
Taichi almost jumped, when he felt the hold on his arm tightened even further. He quickly looked down at Takeru, worried for the younger blonde. But Takeru seemed to be persistent on keeping his usual calming smile towards his brother.
"Ah, about that, I'm sorry nii-san," Takeru said as he raised his arm up, pretending to scratch his head in apology. "I've already got plans with Taichi-san. You see, Hikari-chan has asked to head to her house to do some studying. You know, we've got a test coming up soon at summer, and it's really important for me to pass all my tests and examinations if I want to continue to stay in the basketball team. So, sorry that I can't join you, nii-san."
Yamato blinked, as if processing what Takeru was talking. "I-I see…" Yamato mumbled with an obvious tone of disappointment after some time.
"Sorry, nii-san," Takeru quickly said as he began pulling on Taichi's arm harder, indicating he was leaving. "Well, we have to go right now. Come on, Taichi-san!"
"H-Hey, Takeru-" Taichi finally spoke up after being dragged by the younger blonde towards his car. But looking at the younger blonde being adamant about leaving the current situation, he decided to keep silent, and then silently looked back at Yamato staring at them with eyes full of obvious disappointment and-
Rage? Is Yamato… angry?
"Taichi-san?" Taichi's thoughts were then broken, turning to look into the false innocent eyes of Takeru as if he didn't know what was going on in Taichi's head, which Taichi felt it wasn't true; Takeru was just pretending not to notice anything. However, the tightening of the younger blonde's hold on his arm made him realize Takeru's uneasiness hence he hastily entered his car and left the school, leaving Yamato staring at them while the vehicle disappeared from his sight.
-**Line Break**-
Awkward silence followed in the car as the blonde and brunet left the high school, leaving the elder blonde behind, although Taichi did turn his eyes to check on the blonde some times. Despite seeing Takeru calmly texting with his mobile from time to time, he could tell Takeru was upset about something, and was probably best not to provoke him right now.
Though he still couldn't help but be concerned about the blonde. Since his conversation with Yamato, Taichi could feel an aura of unease and frustration from Takeru, especially when he heard news about Sora…
'That's why I didn't want to tell him…' Taichi sighed heavily at the thought.
"Erm… Takeru?" Taichi finally picked up the courage to speak. He finally turned to see Takeru looking out of the window when he arrived at a red-stop light. It was as if Takeru was in a daze having deep thoughts about something. "Well, about what we said just now, it's-"
"If you're worried about me getting all upset and depressed, you can stop worrying."
"Eh?" Taichi said, surprised and confused by Takeru's sudden interruption.
"More importantly," Takeru continued as he kept looking out of the window. "I'm more worried about Sora-san. I can't believe I wasn't informed about her condition. Is she really alright now?"
"… What?"
"I'm saying, is Sora-san alright now?"
"Ah, yes! The doctor said she will be fine after getting some proper rest and medication." Taichi quickly replied after finally seemed to catch what the blonde said.
"… I see…"
"And in case you're wondering… the doctor did a thorough checkup on Sora's health condition. S-She's not pregnant at all."
"… I see," Takeru replied slowly after a moment of awkward silence, which didn't help in reliving the tense atmosphere in the car at the moment. Taichi mentally pulled his hair in frustration.
Argh… I hate awkward moments like this! How am I supposed to continue now?
A warning horn from the car behind caused Taichi to jump, and he quickly continued driving.
"W-Well then, Takeru," Taichi initiated again, unable to bear the tension that was suffocating him. "About dinner-"
"Already settled," Takeru interrupted before Taichi could continue.
"Huh?" Taichi turned to look at the blonde despite still driving.
"You can drive back home now Taichi-san."
"W-W-What?" Taichi said, trying his best to concentrate on the road despite being distracted by Takeru's words.
"Apparently Daisuke and the others are still studying at your house so I think I would like to join them."
"Wait, wait, wait," Taichi stopped at a red-stop traffic light again and turned to look at Takeru with an incredulous face. "You're coming to my house to study with Hikari and the others? Just like you mentioned to your brother?"
"That's right," Takeru replied, waving his mobile at him while still looking outside. "I've been texting your sister since I've entered your car. She even said there is still food for dinner left in your house. So I thought of going over to eat as well."
"… You're kidding, right?"
"Do I look like I am?" Takeru answered. After looking at Takeru with the same incredulous look for a while, he sighed in defeat, signaling his surrender by lightly bumping his forehead on the steering wheel.
"Oh man…" Taichi whined with defeat. "And here I thought we could have dinner with just the two of us…"
"Sorry about the reservations, Taichi-san."
"… You did that on purpose, did you?" The brunette asked, lightly glaring at the blonde, even though he knew that the blonde was not looking.
"I've told you already, Taichi-san," Takeru said as he turned to look at the traffic. "There's no way I'm having dinner with you alone. The traffic's green now by the way."
The brunette continued to glare the blonde for a while longer, then sighed in defeat as he continued driving down the road to his house. Since Takeru's high school and Taichi's house weren't far from each other, they soon find themselves reaching the Yagami's residential department. The blonde quickly exited the car immediately when Taichi parked his car and it took Taichi to not bring out his materials from his car for him to catch up to him quickly.
"Wait! Takeru!" Taichi called as he stopped the blonde by grabbing his wrist, which Takeru immediately yanked it away with much force than necessary, as noticed by Taichi. The blonde also seemed to avoid all eye contact with him.
"What?" Takeru said as he held on to his wrist that was yanked back. He was trying really hard not to sound annoyed.
"A-Are you really alright?" Takeru could hear the concern in the brunette's voice so clearly, but he wasn't sure if he could calmly reply him back without saying something he would regret. Taking a deep breath, Takeru slowly but surely turned back to face the brunette with a stoic face.
"I've told you already Taichi-san. I'm fine. I won't get all depressed and upset on you if that's what you're worried about."
"Ah, no. That's not it." Taichi said as he scratched his head. He felt slightly embarrassed with himself for some reason. "It's just… you're surprisingly calm about this."
"… I guess you're right." Takeru said, in a calm voice. But Taichi was able to notice the tightening of the blonde's grip on his own wrist. Takeru had also begun to look down, facing the ground, his fringes covering his eyes, as if he was trying hard not to make any eye contact.
"Takeru…"
"I-I'm alright. Really. Just that… it was a shock to me initially, but I'm okay with it… I guess…"
"… You're sure?" But Taichi wasn't convinced, because he noticed something else as well, and it's becoming more obvious.
"Yeah… it's not as if I can do anything about it. Even if I throw a tantrum or cry miserably in front of nii-san, it's not going to change anything. T-This is nii-san's decision; I'll respect it from the bottom of my heart."
"…Bottom of your heart, eh…" Taichi muttered as he walked towards Takeru and suddenly grabbed his wrist. "Even when you're shaking like this?"
Takeru's eyes widened as the university student showed him his own apparent shivering wrist, making him realize just how much he was shaken up by the whole event. Takeru mentally cursed himself for being so obvious. He really thought that he could accept all these. He really thought that it was okay. He really thought he could be happy for his brother. Most of all, he really thought that he could give his blessings to his brother and Sora from the bottom of his heart.
But his true feelings seemed to decide to leak out on their own; right in front of the last person he wanted to show.
Silence continued the current moment; Takeru not knowing what he could say to save himself from the current situation. It was shameful enough to him that he couldn't control his feelings, but to be showing them right in front of Taichi? If only the ground can swallow me up whole. Takeru silently wished to himself.
However, Taichi seemed to be pretty sensitive to the blonde's emotional state at the moment, being able to sense his embarrassment. Taichi sighed as he gently released the blonde's wrist.
"Well, can't say I can blame you. It's not easy to get over Yamato quickly huh…" Takeru twitched upon hearing those words. He didn't he can stand it hearing his own true feelings for his older brother. Sometimes he really wished that those feelings of his would just disappear, so that it won't cause any trouble for himself, his brother, Sora, Taichi and anyone.
Homosexuality and incest, plus he had a girlfriend already and they are getting married. His sinful love for his own brother was wrong in too many ways.
As Takeru busied burying himself in self-pity and shame, a pair of warm and gentle hands suddenly held his face and slowly moved and maneuvered it to face a pair of sincere and caring chocolate eyes.
"You know… you don't really have to be so hard yourself," Taichi said as Takeru looked at him with a blank but tired face. It was then Taichi smiled, slightly surprisingly Takeru as the brunette moved forward to lean his forehead on the blonde's. "But I do know how you feel, I guess."
"T-Taichi-san," It took quite a while for Takeru to understand those words of his. He was beginning to feel nervous as Taichi chuckled in response.
"Say… Takeru," Taichi said as his eyes moved to look into Takeru's. "About my confession last time, did you ever consider it?"
Takeru twitched upon hearing those words, and memories of what happened two days ago began flooding in his mind. Taichi's confession, his kiss and his warming hug, it all suddenly came back to him. Without realizing it himself, the blonde began to blush upon remembering those words they shared on that precise day and moment, and pulled himself away from the brunette very quickly in embarrassment.
"W-W-W-W-What?! O-O-Of course not!" Takeru stuttered, and he mentally cursed himself for that and being so nervous. "I've already given you my answer!"
"And I've already told you I'm not giving up," Taichi said as his smile widened, and he began to stalk towards Takeru. Seeing this, Takeru could only step back, hoping to maintain some distance, but realized his attempts failed as he found himself trapped between Taichi and his car. Taichi quickly placed his arms on both side of Takeru's body to block off all escape routes. "Hey, do answer me honestly."
"W-What?" Takeru tried his best to glare murderously at the brunette, unaware of how much it failed due to his reddening face.
"Do I really not stand a chance? At all?" Taichi asked as his goofy smile came back, but Takeru could sense the seriousness behind. "Not even a tiny bit?"
"No," Takeru answered rather quickly, but currently, for some reason, he didn't know whether it is because that he already decided on the answer, or, that he felt nervous. However, he couldn't help but feel annoyed when he saw that the smile on Taichi's face was not going away.
"Ouch, that's really harsh."
"Not my fault that you are the one being persistent," Takeru retorted as he crossed his arms, trying to show his obvious annoyance.
"Well… I guess you're right," Taichi said with a sad smile this time, and he stood up properly before moving himself away from the blonde. Takeru was really surprised, that Taichi would just give up like this quickly today. Taichi even started walking away. "Well then! Guess we better head to my house! To be honest, I'm starving. Guess I'll make do today with kaa-san's home made dinner!"
"R-Right…" Takeru had a pretty hard time accepting that Taichi suddenly stopped his advances rather quickly today; he was so annoyingly persistent before this. Has he finally decided to give up?
Takeru hesitated for a while, before decided to follow Taichi and make his way to the Yagami's residence.
Well, better to head up quickly and start on the homework.
The walk started quietly for some time, but it was soon broken by the brunette as he suddenly stopped in front of Takeru. Confused, Takeru stopped as well.
"Almost forgot!" Taichi declared as he suddenly turned around, eyeing the blonde for a while before suddenly and quickly moved his head so close to the blonde's face. The blonde could not respond in time as his lips were met by another in a quick kiss, causing him to freeze on the spot in shock. It took him quite awhile to notice the big smile on the face in front of him. "I'm glad to be able to see you today! Takeru!"
"W-Wha-" The blonde couldn't form any words at all due to the shock.
"Sorry, didn't say anything about giving up. In fact, I'm more determined to make you fall in love with me more now!" And that wide goofy smile was still on that face, so close to him.
And he knew that he couldn't hold back anymore as he balled his fist.
And with that, a sudden pain was shoved on the brunette's stomach, causing Taichi to cough and doubled over, gasping for breath while clutching his stomach.
"And that's what you get for getting carried away," Takeru said, as he quickly walked away.
"Ah! Wait, Takeru!" Taichi could only raise his hand trying to reach out for the blonde as he continued catching his breath. But the blonde had already walked for some distance in front, his back view getting smaller and smaller.
Geez, what a brat! Taichi could only slowly stood up, and ran towards the blonde quickly to catch up. But the blonde didn't seem to have any intention to let him do that.
Because he definitely did not want to let him see the heavy blush on his face at the moment.
To be continued
Sorry if you've been gritting and clenching onto your handkerchief while waiting for me to update. I understand how frustrating it can be especially for not-so-popular pairing like this. I am in your shoes (hehe).
Hopefully, just HOPEFULLY, I can get the next chapter up… soon? I guess? Haha… ^^|||
Anyway, remember to review! Pretty please? Thank you! =D
