Dealing With Jack
Chapter 2
"I could just kill him!" Sharon fumed from the table as Andy was finishing the dishes.
"Well we certainly have enough experience with murder…"Andy joked back at her. Sharon shot him a look, "Hey, I didn't do anything this time" he laughed.
"How dare he drag Rusty into this? Telling him that he is the reason I'm filing for divorce! And pumping him for information about who I might be dating? Just when I think he can't disappoint me anymore than he already has. Why would he do this?"
Andy left the dishes and came over to her, "Come here" he said taking her hand and leading her to the couch.
"Sharon, Jack is addict, and what is the number one thing I have told you about addicts? Andy asked her.
"That they are selfish bastards whose first response it to hurt the people closest to them" she answered looking away in frustration, "But Andy, you are an addict and you are not that way."
"Oh, Honey, as much as part of me wants you to think that forever. It is not true. How many meeting a week do I go to?"
Sharon sighed, "At least two and your therapist at least once a month."
"Do you know why I do that? I do it because I know just how much being a selfish bastard has cost me. I lost everything because I loved drinking more than my family. I know that any bad day or hell sometimes any good day I could be right back there if I don't chose not to be. Look at last night. I was angry and I said something even though I knew it might hurt you. As soon as I saw the look in your eyes I knew that the selfish bastard was trying to come out. Do you know where I went when I left here?"
Sharon looked and him with concern, she hadn't even thought about it. Would he have gone to a bar because of their fight? Jack would have. "I assumed you went home."
Andy could see the concern on her face and he moved closer to her, "I did, but first I went to a meeting because I know I have way too much to lose by acting that way. The problem with Jack is that for some reason he still hasn't figured that out yet."
Sharon sighed again, "I am beginning to think he never will,"
"Well until he does you have to stop expecting him too." Andy told her gently not wanting to start another fight.
She smiled at him, "I guess maybe I should listen to you a little more on this."
"Well, that would be nice." He said with a smile, "Now, I believe we have spent more than enough time talking about Jack the last two nights and I also remember that I am supposed to make amends to you for being a selfish bastard last night." He reminded her pulling her back against him managing to untuck her blouse from her skirt in the process.
"Hmmm, what did you have in mind?" She asked closing her eyes as she leaned back on to him.
Andy reached around and unbuttoned the top two buttons on her blouse allowing him to move it off her shoulders a little. He began to rub them and her neck, knowing all the rights spots to relieve her stress. "I thought that would be a nice start, then I could move onto this." He whispered against her neck as he began to kiss it slowly.
"Both are a very nice start" she responded her voice starting to shake a little as her ran his hand underneath her shirt and he placed it against her stomach pulling her even closer to him. "But what after that?"
He moved her bra strap down and began kissing her more causing her to breathe in quickly, "Oh, I can think of a few things that might work. When is Rusty going to be home?
"Late" was all she could answer, as he managed somehow to turn then both around so that he was on top of her.
"Good, because making amends should never be rushed."
The next morning Sharon let Andy go with her to Gavin's office. "Well this is a surprise. Not a surprise that you two are, well whatever you are, but that she would let you come." He said to Andy not even attempting to hide his pleasure at the situation. "Must be serious."
"Gavin," Sharon started trying her intimidating voice but the fact that he had caught them holding hands getting off the elevator didn't do much to help her cause.
"Oh Sweetheart, lighten up, you will finally be a divorced woman soon and nobody will care what you are doing with the handsome Lieutenant."
Andy for once actually looked a little uncomfortable.
"Gavin, fine but how do we get it finished and protect my money. I'm not giving him anything."
"Darling, do I tell you how to catch murders? No, then you don't try and figure out my job. It will all be fine."
"Speaking of murders, Provenza says they have something." Andy said looking up from his phone.
"Run along and catch your bad guys and I will deal with Jack." Gavin said shooing them from his office
They had finished the case and attended the service Andy had arranged. It almost cause Sharon to break their work agreement. She wanted so badly to hold his hand during the service instead she nudged him gently with her shoulder. He smiled and she knew he was doing better it had been a hard case for all of them but it had really touched him.
"Let's get Rusty and all go out tonight." Andy suggested in her office later "Something fun."
"Ok, well you know Rusty is always up for burgers and milkshakes." She offered
"Perfect."
They went back to her house and changed, and all took one car to Rusty's favorite place. Sharon smiled as she listened to the two of them. She realized that while she and Andy had been forming their relationship that Rusty and Andy had been forming one too. She looked around and realized that they looked like any other couple out with their teenage son. She wasn't sure when or how that had happened but it felt like what she had wanted for so long.
They were just getting back from dinner when her phone rang. "God, I hope it's not a case" Andy groaned. It was Friday night and he wanted a weekend off. Sharon smiled, 'It's Ricky" she answered and excused herself into the bedroom to talk to him.
When she came back out she had a somewhat worried look on her face, "What's up?" Andy asked her
"Ricky says he's coming to visit next in two weeks." She told him
"Well, isn't that good? You are always saying you want him to come home more." Andy asked clearly confused
"Yes, but the timing of this visit concerns me and I have a feeling that Jack has something to do with it"
