I am so sorry for the long wait! I was so excited to write this one, but life has consistently gotten in the way and I just haven't had the motivation! I'll try to keep these updated more often, but I make that promise too often to trust myself to keep it. But here's this, at least.
The silence seemed to grow heavier the longer they stared at one another. A physical heaviness, one that could almost be believed to be the cause of Cronus' hunched shoulders or the tight way Kankri was holding himself. "That was completely uncalled for, Cronus. Take it back."
"No way." His accent was thick, rough, as if he hadn't used his voice in weeks, even though it had only been minutes. "Stop being so offended by everything I say. Then we wouldn't keep having this problem."
"You are well aware of the problems that your thoughtless sayings cause, if you would just-!" Kankri didn't finish his sentence, as Cronus rolled his eyes and started walking off. "Don't you walk away from me, Cronus Ampora! Come back here and apologize for what you said to me."
Cronus turned back halfway. "Or maybe I'll just repeat it. I don't give a shit about your opinions, Vantas. Shut the hell up."
Kankri found himself, for the first time he could remember in sweeps, speechless. There was more than just ice in Cronus' voice, and it seemed to have frozen the candy-blood in his tracks; one hand up in a point, his mouth open mid-word, eyes wide. "I really don't feel like doin' this today, Kankri. Just. Leave me alone with your shitty lectures and over-the-top whatevers. I'm done." Cronus waved a dismissive hand and walked off, leaving Kankri to stare after him in silence.
~~~Line Break~~~
"You could at least apologize to him, Cro. I think ya might've broken him. Poor crab. He's been hidin' out in his hive for days now! Won't talk to anybody, not even Porrim. Whatever you said to him, buoy, you better be takin' back soon." Cronus shook his head and sighed at Meenah's words.
"Meenah, I have no apologies to give. He deserved what I said, and I don't really regret saying it. If he wants to act like a spoiled child because someone is finally brave enough to call bullshit on his 'triggers,' then that's not my problem! He doesn't give a shit about people bein' triggered, he just wants an excuse to talk down to me and everyone else and I'm not puttin' up with it any longer!" He was breathing hard after his harsh outburst, face flushed a little violet from the wrathful emotion he'd put forth. Meenah was effectively silenced for a good few seconds before she finally spoke again.
"Just keep in mind that he doesn't really have anyone to talk to. And neither do you. It would be better for everyone if you two just hate-fucked already and quit whining." Cronus slammed the door in her face, sighing softly. It wasn't that simple, she just didn't understand. It was about time Kankri shut his mouth for a good bit. Maybe Cronus could finally get some peace and quiet for once. At the same time, he did feel a little bad if he thought about it. Maybe the violet-blood really had taken it a bit too far. Especially if not even their rainbow-drinking friend could trick the mutant into opening his hive door.
"Maybe I should apologize.." He muttered to himself as his palmhusk chimed. He pulled it out of his pocket to read a simple, short message from the troll in question.
'We need t9 talk.'
'On my vway, I guess.' It didn't take too long for the seadweller to walk to his friend's house. If he could still call them friends, half the time he wasn't even sure anymore. The door opened immediately at his knock, and he came face-to-face with the much shorter troll he'd been fighting with.
"Come in, Cronus." The violet-blood winced at the coolness in the other's voice, but ignored it and stepped inside. Kankri led him to a couch, where the two sat in uncomfortable silence for a solid minute before Cronus found the voice to speak.
"Listen, Kan.. I'm sorry about what I said. I just.. We don't get along. It's that simple. And I don't think we should keep trying. I don't wanna do this anymore." Kankri didn't respond, just watching him with curious eyes. "You invited me over, remember? The least you could do is not give me the silent treatment." There was still nothing, so Cronus scoffed. "Fine then. Nice knowin' ya, Kan." As Cronus moved to his feet, Kankri seemed to jerk, almost as if he hadn't been paying attention until Cronus moved, and grabbed the greaser by his jacket sleeve.
"Cronus, wait, I-"
"I'm not gonna keep playin' these games, Kankri! You invite me over, sayin' we need to talk, and then-" Cronus was stopped midsentence as a pair of lips met his own roughly. He froze, and pulled away. "What the fuck was that, Kan?"
"The only logical way to get you to shut up short of gagging you or taping your mouth closed, and I think we both know we need this." They met eyes for a moment, and a hot spark seemed to pass through their skin where Kankri was still touching Cronus' arm, and in the next second Kankri was pinned against the wall with Cronus' lips attacking his own. Let the battle begin, then.
Sorry, folks, I don't really do smut because of the small ones who might read. Unless you really want me to. I'll think about it. Anywho, I know it's a bit rushed, but there you have an update! The next chapter will probably be the last, even though I'd originally planned for it to be longer. Unless I do a bonus smut. Who knows. Bye guys!
