Enjolras followed Eponine out of her house and into a forest nearby. They walked for quite sometime, Eponine having a consistent pace. Enjolrs found it hard to keep up with her. Then, suddenly, she stopped. He heard a sharp intake of breath as he caught up to her.
Before them, stood her beloved, Marius. Enjolras always thought him a fool, but surprised him was the woman who was stroking his hair and smiling at him. It was Cosette, the goddess of beauty! And then, they shared a kiss. Enjolras felt the woman beside him grab his arms and take shaky breaths. He turned to her to see tears streaming down her face and a heartbroken look in her eyes.
Her eyes. Enjolras felt as though he could stare into them for eternity. They were so dark, yet held so much emotion. He could see everything, the pain, the anger. And it scared him. Because that is the moment he felt his heart stop as it was ripped out of his body to give to her. Enjolras, the god who pledged to remain pure, fell in love.
He was snapped from his thoughts when Eponine took steps toward the couple.
"Marius?", she asked, shaky and weak. He want to save her from her pain, yet he didn't know how.
The couple quickly separated after hearing the man's beloved speak.
"Eponine, what are you doing here?", ask the dumbstruck male who was previously falling in love with the goddess.
"Enjolras! How good to see you", Cosette spoke up after seeing that Eponine would not respond.
"Wish I could say the same Cosette. Let go and have a little chat", the god muttered, dragging the blonde goddess only a couple feet away. "What are you doing?"
"Well I overheard your friends talk about this mortal more beautiful than moi and I had to investigate. No one can be prettier than me Enjolras. No one."
"So you kiss her betrothed?"
"Yes. Seemed fair."
"That's awful Cosette."
"Psh. She'll get over it. It's not like there aren't tons of guys waiting for her to end it with him so that they can be with her."
"Still, she just lost her brother yesterday. Too soon."
"I heard about that", Cosette muttered, "You killed him."
"It was suppose to be her."
"Why?"
"Father said so."
"Oh, then she is doomed." The goddess flipped her hair and straightened her skirt. "I must be going. Bye Marius! Eponine." And she left.
Enjolras turned to see Eponine slap Marius and announce the ending of their engagement. After which, she grabbed his hand and lead him deeper into the forest.
"I can't believe him", she whispered to herself.
"Stop."
"Excuse me?!"
"He didn't deserve you."
"And who does oh mighty god?"
"I don't even think I deserve you. You are like some untouchable being, mightier than anything I know. You've slayed the most dangerous beast I've ever seen and defied death many times. You survived your childhood and you'll survive this."
She looked at him with those eyes, and for the first time since he met her, he saw a flicker of hope. Then she was pulling him closer and placing her lips on his and it felt better than anything he has ever done. And he kissed her back.
Together, they started the end.
