When Kurt enters the library the next day, he almost stops due to his shock. Blaine Anderson is sitting at the same table from the day before, with his math book out, and notebook open. He's looking down and for a second, Kurt believes he's asleep. His eyes look up, spying Kurt near the entrance, and there's his signature smirk on his lips.
"Hummel, I was starting to think you weren't going to show." Kurt rolls his eyes, pulling out the chair across from Blaine to sit. Blaine glances at the math book and paper, sighing.
"Where are we starting today Blaine?" Kurt grabs the math book from Blaine, reading over what he had open the page to.
"Hummel, are you gay?" Kurt looses his grip on the book, letting it collide with the table with a slamming sound. The librarian glares at Kurt over her glasses before returning to her computer screen. Kurt swallows air desperately, glaring at Blaine.
"Excuse you?" Blaine gives him a smile that Kurt just can not trust.
"Rumor has it, you're gay. I was just seeing if the rumor is true." Kurt glares, picking the math book back up.
"Rumor has it, you have various sexual diseases and you don't swallow." Behind the book, where Blaine can't see him, Kurt's blushing. Kurt notices Blaine's hand gripping the top of the math book, pulling it down to sit back on the table.
"Last I checked, no diseases. The other rumor, well we can go find that out if you want." If looks could kill, Kurt would have been a murderer at this time. "Hummel, I'll ask again, are you gay?"
"If I tell you can we actually work on math today?" Blaine leans back, looking up at the ceiling. Kurt watches Blaine for a few seconds before returning back to the math book.
"If you tell me, I won't say anything sexual the rest of the hour we have left." Kurt groans which makes Blaine smile wider.
"Yes, I'm gay. Okay slopes, we didn't finish them yesterday."
When Kurt arrives to school the next day, people are staring at him, some even pointing. He quirks an eyebrow at the unusual crowd around him but continues to his locker. As he pulls out his English and French textbooks from his backpack to place in his locker, a blonde football player shows up at his side.
"So, are you free to tutor other boys Hummel?" Kurt looks at the boy, a quizzical look on his face. The boy smirks, looking behind him at his friends. Kurt crosses his arms in front of his chest, slightly feeling offended.
"Excuse you Evans? What the hell are you even speaking of?"
"Blaine told the whole school that when you're tutoring him, you're actually fucking between the bookcases. So, when are you free to tutor me?" Kurt's jaw drops. He knew Blaine might do something but he never realized that he'd go spread lies about Kurt. He slams his locker shut, attempting to hold his head up as he walks away from Sam and his friends. Their laughter is like knives in his back. He makes a beeline to the bathroom in the E wing, the bathroom no one ever uses, so he can just hide from everyone for a while. On his way up there, he sees Blaine. Blaine's arm is wrapped around the waist of some blonde boy named Jeff. He's talking in Jeff's ear when he catches Kurt's eye. Kurt shakes his head, starting to run to the bathroom instead of walking.
He goes to the end stall once he walks through the door and slams it shut, locking it in place. He knows the floors up here never get clean but he still finds himself sitting down on the tile floor. He doesn't even really know why he's crying other than the fact that he's really hurt about everything that's being said about him. He's never told rumors about other people, he's always kept to himself so he wouldn't offend anyone. Yet here he is, crying because of some stupid slut.
"Hummel?" Kurt tenses, listening to the footsteps on the tile. He sees Blaine's converse clad feet stop at the stall he's in. The door jiggles as Blaine attempts to open it. "Hummel open the fucking door."
"No." Kurt chokes out, making himself sound small. He watches Blaine sit down on the tile outside the door, sticking his hand under the door.
"Kurt, what the hell is your problem?" Kurt kicks at Blaine's hand and Blaine eventually retracts it.
"You're my problem Anderson! Fuck you Blaine, just fuck you." Not even a second after the words leave his lips and Blaine is sticking his head under the door to look at Kurt. His sunglasses are holding back his thick, curly hair and there's a nice purple-black bruise forming under is left eye. Kurt glares at him as good as he can with tears still slipping down his cheeks. Blaine swears softly, trying to touch Kurt again even though Kurt rejected him before.
"What did I do Kurt?"
"You know exactly what you did." Kurt throws his foot back out, trying to kick at Blaine again but missing. Blaine sighs, sitting back up.
"Hummel what the fuck-"
"You told everyone we have sex at our tutoring sessions between the bookcases! We don't! I'm a virgin, you asshole!" Kurt stands, to angry to cry anymore, and unlocks the door. He glares down at Blaine on the floor before walking towards the door. "Just forget about tutoring today. I'm going to go home claiming I'm sick."
Kurt walks out of the boys bathroom, leaving Blaine on the floor.
Kurt is gripping the table, glaring at the clock. Blaine is late, really late. It's almost four pm and Kurt is about to call it a day when he hears someone enter the library. He sees Blaine's curly mop of hair and he groans.
"I honestly thought you wouldn't be here but I figured I better come by just to see." Kurt nods, glaring holes into the table, not bothering to look at Blaine. "I didn't spread that rumor Kurt."
"Bull. If you didn't, who did?" Kurt looks up at Blaine and his heart about sinks. Blaine is sporting a new bruise on his face other than the one under his eye and his lip is split slightly off center. "What happened to you?"
"I did some talking to someone."
"Talking? Sure you did Blaine, that's why you have a shiner and a split lip."
"I got in a fist fight with Evans alright? I beat the shit out of him for spreading that fucking rumor." Kurt stares at him, rising to his feet.
"I don't need you to fight for me or something Anderson. In fact, don't even bother showing up anymore, you obviously don't give a damn. I'm leaving, do whatever the hell you please." Kurt almost stomps out of the library but figures that's kind of childish, so he just gracefully steps out instead. The second he's out the door, Blaine punches the table top.
