"Seven hundred years ago our primitive predecessors were invaded by the dreadful Zhaoí. To save the lives of their kin and the future of our kind, the Great Warriors devastated their native planet along with the Zhaoí. Without their valour and tremendous sacrifice, we would not exist here on Zalübai. We rejoice today in their honour and look to the future for many more centuries of peace."

Suki sat at the back end of the schoolroom, slumped over her writing desk, rubbing the exhaustion from her eyes. She let out an exasperated sigh as the old recording in front of her continued to drone on on the virtual screen. The males monotone voice sounded almost robotic, and it made her want to fall asleep right there on her desk. Regrettably, her teacher was monitoring the room to prevent that exact event from happening.

They shut down the entire city just to air this particular recording on the same day every ten years. It was the governments way of continuously reminding the masses how fortunate they were to be alive on Zalübai. Suki looked out the darkened glass window of the schoolroom wishing she could be outside doing anything else. Yet here she was, sitting in a room filled with people she had never uttered a single word to. There had been a couple of times when she had wanted to get to know the other students but those moments left her as fast as they came.

She had spent most of her life alone and that was fine in her mind. She had more time to do the stuff that she enjoyed. The longer she sat and thought about it, the more agitated she got. She would have loved nothing more than to run out of the school building and race home to the motorcycle that was currently hidden in her backyard. As the broadcast recording ended, the glass windows began to lighten to their original translucent state. As they cleared, the room was bathed in sunlight, almost blinding Suki who had been staring out of it.

"Seriously?!"

She sat back, blinking the sun out of her eyes as black dots swam across her field of vision. She hated it when the windows changed that quickly without any warning. She practically hated anything that changed too quickly for a matter of fact. With the exception of her Zorth of course. The motorbike couldn't seem to change gears quickly enough. Something she would have to persist in working on for the oncoming weeks. She let out another aggravated sigh before glancing at the clock, her vision having finally returned to normal. A smile crept onto her face as it seemed that luck as on her side. There were only had a couple of minutes left before the bell would ring to dismiss the school for the rest of the day.
