Another stressful day went by for the ruler of fire elementals. Another day trying to keep her citizens and father in place. Another day not hearing anything from him.

She began to head up to her room, ignoring the bowing guards and greetings she received from her subjects. All she wanted to do was lay in her bed and sleep 'till the sun came up. Yet, someone was bound to disrupt this wish and lend her attention to them.

Drudgingly opening the door, she stepped into her room, dismissing the unattended papers that rested on her desk.

The ruler sighed as she changed her armor to a night gown and plopped in her bed. She laid in her bed, limiting herself for five minutes to relax. With the thought of already piling duties expected for her to complete as she is at ease, she let out a growl of frustration with the exhaustion from earlier, disappearing.

'Great' She thought as she got out of bed and walked over to her desk, examining the papers, only bothering to skim through them.

She sighed in relief, knowing it wasn't anything big. Only about some kingdom moving into Ooo.

She walked back to her bed getting ready to finally put the day behind her, when a sudden gleam caught her eye. Turning her head she saw a small, gray key sticking out of her bed.

Biting her lower lip, she hesitated reaching for it. Before grasping it between her fingers, she stared at the key deeply, deciding whether or not to do what she was kept putting off. She finally decided to do it; kneeing down beside her bed, she pulled out a green good-sized chest she obtained from the dungeon of bones.

She inserted the key inside the keyhole and twisted it ,until she heard a click. She opened it and examined what was inside. To someone else who would have been able to glimpse inside would think nothing of these items and mistake it as plain junk. But in her case ,these items meant so much. They were her treasures. Her treasures she collected with her ex-boyfriend for months.

Gold pieces, jewels, scrolls, pictures, and even a small dagger, all in which were found in different dungeons, were scattered around the chest. Carefully avoiding the sharp weapon, she dug her hands into the chest, searching for a particular item. When she finally found it, she slowly pulled it out.

It looked like a plain, silver colored bracelet with her initials 'FP' engraved on it. But in truth, it was an enchanted bracelet that held some kind of secret power she had yet to discover. She held it gently within her hand. Out of all the things in her chest and most likely anything she owned, this had to be the most precious item of them all.

It was given to her by Finn on her fifteenth birthday party. Her first and last birthday party. She still remembers that day like it was yesterday…

~4 years ago (Before the break up)

Flame Princess was putting the finishing decorative touches on the table for her birthday party.

Her boyfriend insisted that they invite more people into her party than just the two of them, and Jake. All she hoped for was that he doesn't get overboard and brings all of Ooo with him, but knowing him that may be an impossible wish.

When the time came for her party to start, she wasn't a bit surprised when the amount of people her boyfriend invited were about one-fourth of entire Ooo. Several people came her way and congratulated her or gave her a tin foiled warped present, in which she nervously thanked and made up an excuse that would make it less rude to get away from them. Even Princesses from different kingdoms were there too, giving her gifts and trying to start a conversation. It felt like every time she escaped from them more people would be their to crowd her a second before her escape plan initiated. So she had no choice but to listen to them as they began to share stories with her about Finn and how he assisted them.

After only 30 minutes of it all, she was getting at the end of her rope and was about to go ballistic All of this was just too suffocating for the young princess that she fled from her party and ran into the woods for some time alone.

After calming herself, she reminded herself to smack her boyfriend upside the head for being unreasonable and invite so many people to her birthday party. Grumbling to herself, she didn't notice a figure sneaking up on her from behind until she heard a twig snap.

Reflexes kicked in and she conjured a ball of fire and fired it at the intruder without hesitating.

"What the? Oh glob! Ahhhhh!" She heard a familiar scream.

'Oh no' The fire being gulped and looked at the spot she hit her target. There sitting around burned grass was her boyfriend, Finn.

She fell to her knees next to him. "Finn, I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to strike you out like that I-I-" Lava tears welled up in her eyes, making it hard to form words.

Flame Princess felt herself become swept up by strong arms and was embraced to someone's chest, Finn's chest. She struggled to break free from him. "Finn let me go, I'm going to burn y- your not burning?"

She pulled away and noticed his whole body was covered in a blue hue.

"But how?" she said bewildered.

"I ran into Flambo and asked him to cast a flame shield on me. It will last for several hours, but just enough time to enjoy your birthday without getting burned" The human grabbed Flame Princess's hand "And I-I thought if you wanted of course, would like to have a dance with me without wearing a tin foiled suit" He rubbed his head sheepishly. "But if you don't, it's okay."

The princess stared at him astonished for moment before blushing, and playfully punched him on shoulder.

"Oh, you dummy, of course I would!" She giggled.

She stood up and offered her hand to Finn, who generously took it.

"So, why aren't you at your party, anyways?"

The girl's eyes instantly darkened, glaring at her boyfriend "I would be enjoying it right now if you haven't invited so many people. They're practically throwing themselves at me!"

The human tilted his head in confusion. "What do you mean FP? I only invited seven people since I know how you get in crowds."

The fire being blinked a few times not understanding "Wait, if your not the one who invited them, then… Jake!" She growled out.

"You called?", said the dog strolled into the forest clearing, not noticing the livid expression the princess of flames had on.

Finn cleared his throat "Umm, Jake how many people did you invite exactly?"

"What do you mean how many people I invited? I invited everyone on my phone contacts bro. I also hired some guys that are suppose to be party starters, they provide entertainment and everything. I think their name was 'Prison Riot' they were cheap, too." Jake said.

Finn's mouth flew open before grabbing his brother's shoulders "Do you mean the same guys who trashed PB's castle last year!"

"Nah… wait, no that can't be them… but, oh my glob! Finn! I think sponked up real good this time!" They both looked at each other and screamed.

"Finn, what's going on?"

"Flame Princess! Please don't get mad. But, I think we may have invited some party crazed, destructive goons to your party that are most likely going to trash your entire home… or destroy it." Finn spoke the last line in a tiny voice.

"You WHAT?!" Flame princess yelled at the top of her lungs.

"Oh glob, Finn! She's going to smoke our hot dogs! Calm her down, bro!" Jake whispered jumping on his brothers open arms.

"FP, we're sorry, but I swear we're going to make things right. I'll make sure those goons don't ruin your birthday! Hero's honor!" He vowed.

Flame Princess took a deep breath to try to calm herself like she practiced before. She glared at the two brothers. "You better."

"Alright Jake, what time is it?" "Prank time bro!" The two brothers fist bumped each other.

"Okay! We'll need a plan and I got the perfect one that will send them packing." Flame princess and Jake gathered around Finn as he whispered his plan.

"Is this the place, Boss?" A small, green goblin said to the big troll next to him.

"Looks like the place. Rick bring me my club, we'll go on foot from here on out." The troll said to another goblin who only nodded.

"You shouldn't be here!" A sudden voice boomed making the three creatures turn around, it was an old man looked to have seen better years. "This area is the resting place of dead, your trespassing on their land. Get out before you anger the spirits any further."

The three creatures looked at each other for a moment before bursting out laughing "Sorry ,gramps! But we have a gig here and ain't no ghost or whatever going to get in our way!"

The old man scowled "You are making a terrible mistake."

"Yeah. Whatever, gramps. Come on, guys! We have a party to trash!" The trio went on their way, oblivious to the old man's smirk.

.

.

"Can you believe that crazy old coot?! spirits, really? Who does he take us for?" The troll laughed.

"Yeah ,boss! But ghosts do exist… I heard from my cousin that he saw one, almost stole his soul is what he said" The little goblin shivered.

"Don't tell me your scared of puny little ghosts." The other goblin snarled.

"Of course not! My cousin told me that story! And plus, ghosts only live in the cemeteries on the other side of Ooo!" The little goblin yelled

"Enough. We're here." The trio made it to a clearing; the whole place looked abandoned and a thick layer of fog covered the area.

"Hey ,Boss, I don't have a good feeling about this" The small goblin shrunk back behind the troll.

"I thought you said you weren't scared of ghost!" The goblin laughed.

"I'm not afraid" He hissed. "It's just I-I don't like foggy places is all, maybe we should come back late-"

"OOHHHH" The trio turned around and saw a white figure trudge towards them.

"Oh crap! It's a ghost! Run for your lives!" The two goblin screamed.

The troll stood his ground and lifted his club up high before slamming it down on the white figure.

The troll examined the 'ghost' and as he suspected it someone wearing tablecloth, the only problem was that there was no one under it.

"What is this?!" The troll growled.

"Um B-Boss there's more of them coming this way!" The little goblin shrieked.

A group of white figures emerged from the fog and began to surround the trio.

"B-Boss! We gottta get out of here, now!"

"No, these are people dressed as ghost see-" The troll grabbed one of the nearest 'ghost' and pulled their tablecloth off.

But when he did, he didn't expect to see a rotting corpse, looking back at him.

"Okay ,Boss. They're not ghosts… THEY'RE ZOMBIES!"

"What the- I didn't get paid for this!" The troll yelled as a zombie grabbed his leg and attempted to bite him.

He punched the zombie out of pure terror and ran out the forest with the two goblins trailing behind him.

.

.

.

"Ha ha! We did it! Woohoo! Okay ,everyone! You can come out, now!" As the fog cleared, all the party guest came out of their hiding spots.

"Okay, you may all continue partying! I now officially declare this party Goon-free!" Finn hollered with a big smile on his face. The party guest cheered and continued with their partying.

"I knew that fog machine would be helpful one day. Thanks for bringing the dead back to life, Marcy."

"Anytime, Finn. It was worth seeing the look on their faces. And next time if you need a party entertainer, you should call me instead."

"Heh, heh. I promise. Umm, can you put them back to rest? They seem to want to take a bite out of the guests." Finn gestured the Zombies that were looking at the party guests with hunger.

"'Kay, come on you guys! Time to go back to sleep!" The Vampire Queen clapped her hands a few times; getting the zombies attention, the Zombies gave groans, but obeyed nonetheless.

Finn leaped in the air, landing in front of flame princess not noticing something slipped out of his pocket.

"Finn, what is this?" Flame Princess asked as she picked up a small, tin-foiled wrapped present.

"Aw crud! I was planning on giving it to you after I saw you. I guess I forgot with all that whole attacking ordeal. Heh, heh…." He nervously chuckled.

"Can I open it?!" Flame princess said shaking from excitedly.

"Uh, yeah! It is yours!"

She frantically ripped the tin foil off the gift and opened the box. she gasped at what she seen inside.

"I know it isn't much, but I just thought since you're a princess and stuff, that you would like jewelry. So, I looked around many dungeons, until I was incredibly lucky and found this fire-resistant bracelet. That's the best I could find. Sorry." The young human scratched his head, as he averted his eyes from the flaming girl.

The fire elemental just stood there speechless.

"C-Can you place it on me?" The princess managed to say.

Finn looked taken aback but still nodded. "Um, gladly!"

Finn removed the bracelet from its tin-foiled case and shakily slipped it through her hand. "Hah! It's a perfect fit- FP, why are you crying? Oh, no. You hate it, don't you? I knew I should have gone with the brass knuckles!"

Flame Princess tried to hold back her tears, but found she was unable to do so. She touched his shoulder and whispered in his ear, "Finn, it's beautiful."

Finn stopped his small rant and smiled. "It also has this amazing power, it-…. never mind. I don't want to spoil it."

"Come on, hero. I still owe you that dance." She laughed as she dragged him to the dance floor. And they danced.

.

.

.

"It's funny in a way. This isn't what I imagined how my first birthday would turn out."

Finn looked guiltily down at her. The two of them were sitting alone on top of a tall mountain, watching the fireworks that Finn requested Princess Bubblegum to make, erupt in the night sky just before midnight.

"Really?" He gulped.

"Yeah. It's even better of than I expected! Thank you, Finn. You not only made this day feel amazing, but you also made me forget that terrible feeling I had when I was locked away in that lantern." She took deep breath. "I always dreaded my birthday up 'till now. It was always a reminder of another year of my life going by along with my never-ending loneliness." Tears of happiness over whelmed in her eyes. "But now, it's a reminder of another year for adventures and freedom and how I get to celebrate it with my friends, even if they are yours!"

"They are our friends, actually" Finn smiled "Everyone deserves a happy birthday Flame Princess. And I'm grateful that I could make yours enjoyable." Finn squeezed her hand lightly.

"I agree. But, just being with you makes this moment even more enjoyable." She leaned on her boyfriends shoulder and continued to watch the firework show. "Thank you again, Finn."

~Flashback over

She remembered she used to spend hours on end trying to find the secret power that the enchanted bracelet possessed. It got to the point where she used to beg Finn for the answer, but he would always chuckle and say that - that would ruin the surprise.

She stared at the bracelet awhile longer, and as if a dam had broken, all of her emotions spilled out. She fell to her knees as tears cascaded her eyes. She cried for a long period of time, sobbing the name of the young boy she use to love.

Its been four years since his disappearance. In the second year, Finn the Human was officially announced dead. All of Ooo gathered around the grassland for not only Finn's, but also Billy's memorial.

And of course, she attended, even though she felt most of the Princesses held her responsible for Finn's disappearance. They never said anything instead just glared behind her back with scornful looks. She didn't blame them though. 'They have every right to hate me.', she thought. She was the one who took their hero away.

It was all her fault. If only she hadn't pushed him away that day. If only she hadn't told him the truth, he would have still been here in Ooo. And maybe they would have started over. Just maybe.

Trying to calm her sobbing she slid the white oval object into her hand and walked towards her balcony.

She looked upon the fire's aura of her kingdom contrasting against the night sky. Most of her subjects were mostly asleep by now. So, she didn't have to worry about anyone eavesdropping.

"Oh ,Finn. I miss you so much. If your still alive out there, please send me anything of a sign? I need you… to be okay!" She cried out.

~Elsewhere

"ACHOO!" Someone gently wipes below his nose with his finger. "Huh?"

"Your majesty, is everything alright? Are you catching a cold? Maybe you should rest." Another figure said as he came to his side.

"It's alright. Just a sneeze."

"But, your majest-"

"Calm down. Relax. It is alright. It was just one sneeze. Someone must be talking about me."

"I guess it cannot be helped. You are worthy of everyone's conversation for all that you've done for us, majesty."

"Heh. Enough with the well-deserved flatter. Let's go. We're running behind on schedule."
