"Mommy! Mommy!" a little boy cried running through the house.

"Hidashen! Whats wrong?!" a young women, with soft light brown hair and gentle dark blue eyes called out, sounding very worried at her sons distress.

"I hurt myself!" The little boy with dark tousled brown hair cried, holding up a finger to show his mother. The mother had to stifle a laugh, seeing the small miniscule paper cut on her sons finger, that had him all upset.

"Oh Hidashen! What ever will we do? Hurry we must take you to a doctor quickly!" The mother teased sarcastically scooping up the little boy and tossing him in the air playfully. The little boy giggled happily, until he was put back down on the ground, only to resume his pouting.

"Come on lets get a band-aid on that little sir." she said, holding out a hand for the little boy to take. He nodded solemnly following his mother to the kitchen where she pulled out a small first aid kit. She picked him up and sat him on the counter, then pulled out a small band-aid wrapping it around the small digit, before finishing with a kiss to his forehead.

"All better?" She asked, fixing his messy hair.

He nodded happily, before jumping off the counter and running out the door. Only to be stopped by a man in front of him.

"Dad!" he cheered running into the mans awaiting arms.

"Hows my little buddy doing?" the man said, looking happily at his son.

"I'm ok now! I almost died of blood loss but mommy says ill be ok!" Hidashen said showing his father his wrapped finger.

"Oh thank goodness!" the father said, faking a look of shock at his sons finger. The three of them laughed, happily before he spoke up.

"Hida, why don't you go upstairs to play in your room until dinner, hmm?" his father suggested.

"Ok daddy!" the little boy agreed, running out of the room. The young women walked over solemnly to the stove to stir a pot of stew.

"...you have to go again don't you?" Hanruen asked sadly.

The man turned to face his wife sadly.

"...I have to leave tonight..."

(Later that evening)

Hidashen ran through the hallway, the smell of food luring him to the kitchen. He found his mother standing quietly at the stove watching a pot. He walked over to his mother and tugged on her skirt, but stopped noticing some tears on her.

"Mommy, why are you sad?" he asked.

"Oh! Hida. I was cutting some onions and they made my eyes water. That's all." she lied.

"eeewww I don't like onions." Hidashen whined sticking out his tongue. His mother smiled lightly at him stirring the pot before pulling out the wooden spoon in front of the little boys face.

"Taste for taste?" she said.

He blew quickly on it before giving an experimental lick. He smiled before giving her a thumbs up.

"Well I guess dinner is ready if you approve. Go set the table." she said, turning off the stove and pulling out some bowls.

Dinner that night was quiet, not its usual chatty self. Hidashen ate quickly, wanting to get away from the awkward silence. He finished his food and was about to scurry away from the table until his father got his attention.

"Were are you off to in such a hurry Hida?" his father asked.

"Nothing father, I just have a few chapters in a book I'm reading that I really want to finish." Hidashen said innocently.

"If it's a story you want, I have a new one to tell ya." he said getting up to sit in his chair mounted in the living room. Hidashen was quick to sit on his lap, and waited for his father to begin.

"hmm, well now where to begin?... Well the story I'm going to tell you Hida, is about a boy and how he grew to be strong and brave..." His father said, seeing Hidashen's alert face.

"How old is the boy?" Hidashen asked.

"hmm, well he's about your age." his father explained. " Now well to begin, this little boy, around your age, grew up in a house with a loving mother and hard-working father. Now this boy was really happy, and loved his parents. But then came the time of war and his father left to fight, leaving the mom and son alone..." Hidashen's mother came in to listen and sat opposite her son and husband.

"Now because all the daddies left to fend for their families, the little boy was left to be the man of the house. And he was determined to do a good job. He did extra work, and extra chores. Took care of his mother and watched the house. But after many months with out his fathers return, he grew lonely..." Hida looked worried, not liking the fact that the little boys father left.

His father seemed to notice his worry and positioned him more comfortably in his lap.

"... but to help chase away his loneliness he took an autograph book, and at the very top on the very first page, he wrote his fathers name..." As Hidashen's father continues the story he begins to pull out a brown paper package from behind the book shelf.

"...he told himself that night, if he writes his fathers name on the page, small and neatly, once every night, he'll come back the night its filled..." as he finished the story, he placed the package in his hands waiting for his son to open it.

"I want you too have your own autograph book.. just in case there's ever a day your feeling lonely. Pick a random page and start writing, by the time the page is filled that person will return to you." he explained, whispering quietly to the now sleeping boy. After being placed in his bed, the father grabbed a bag, kissed his sadden wife, and walked out the door into the dark night.

( A few weeks later)

Hidashen looked out of his window with a blank stare. It had been three weeks and his father was still away on business. His mother kept telling him that his father would return soon and that their was nothing to worry about, but she didn't tell him why.

She told him that he had gone away to take care of some business, and that he would return home soon.

After the first three weeks, Hidashen began to feel lonely.

His mother still didn't tell him where his father had gone too, but that he shouldn't take very much longer to return. But still he had a bad feeling in the back of his mind.

After a few more days, he found himself in his room, with tear filled eyes. He suddenly had gotten an idea, and rummaged though his closet until he found his book.

He scanned though his book, with the blank pages ready to be written in.

wiping his nose, he decided to go outside to think.

If your ever feeling lonely...

He sad on his tire swing that was hanged by the large oak tree.

….pick a random page...

He sat there quietly thinking about his fathers words.

...and start writing...

He pulled out a pen, picked a random page, and began writing his fathers name.

….by the time the page is filled...

'Hidara...'

...that person...

'… Shen... '

(about a year later)

It had become clear though the passing days, and his mothers spirit, that his father would not return anytime soon. A few months back, his mother had gotten a letter, and started to cry.

Hidashen feared the worst of words in that letter, but couldn't get himself to ask.

He knew his father worked for important people, and that his job had to be dangerous. He knew his father could had possibly passed away, but he didn't want to think about it. He didn't want to accept the fact that it could be the reason for his absence.

He didn't want to believe that the man his mother saw on occasion, could possibly become his new dad.

He didn't want to believe that the older boys, with mean words and insulting stares, would now be his brothers.

He didn't want to believe any of that.

He did want to believe in his fathers story, in the power of the book.

So he held his tears till night time, when no one saw him.

He waited till midnight, when his mothers boyfriend finally went home.

He waited till he finally went home, and his mother retreated to her bedroom.

He waited for her to go, before he pulled out his book, and began to write.

(sometime later)

His mother soon would wed his soon to be stepfather. He didn't like him very much. He was mean, and always intoxicated. If his mother wasn't around he would slap Hidashen behind his head for being in the way.

His soon to be step brothers would tease him. He wanted to say something to his mom, but he remembered that time his soon to be stepfather brought her flowers, and how happy she had been.

Happiness that he had not seen in her for a really long time. So he grinned and bared it.

(Sometime later)

It had been around a month since his Stepfather and Mother had gotten married, and all his fears had unfortunately become true.

His Step dad wasn't very found of him, and neither were his new stepbrothers. All three of them would push him around and order him around.

One day his mom found him in tears and demanded to know what happened. His stepfather was quick to respond saying that they were just kids and that they needed time to adjust to him. Hidashen desperately wanted to say something, but one look from his new "dad", and he knew it was better to keep quiet.

"Well then if that all then. Hidashen, why don't you take them to local park? A bit of sibling bonding time is all you need." His mother suggested.

Even though it technically was a suggestion, Hida knew there was little space for arguing against his mothers wishes.

"That sounds like an excellent idea" his stepfather said "Taka, Jurro! Grab your shoes and head out with your new dear brother, I'm sure you boys will have lots of fun."

Hida couldn't believe it, he could practically taste the sarcasm in his stepfathers voice.

"Oh goody! Kicking up some dirt and walking around aimlessly. How fun" Jurro laughed heading out the door, following Hidashen.

His stepfather chuckled, "Kids"

Hida tried walking as ahead of them as possible keeping his head down.

"So dipshit, where are you taking us huh?"

Hidashen tightened his fists at the comment.

"My n-name is H-Hid-hida..."

"Hi Hi Hi-duh?" Taka mocked.

"No..." Hidashen muttered, hot tears pricking the corners of his eyes.

"oh wow Hi-duh, doesn't even know his own name..are you crying? HAHA Hidan's a cry baby!"

Hidashen cringed, at his stepbrothers teasing.

"Hidan's a crybaby! Hidan's a crybaby."

That's it. He pivoted around and screamed.

"I AM NOT A CRYBABY."

His stepbrothers jumped back before both getting angry looks.

"You can't yell at us like that!" Jurro screamed.

"Who do you think you are?! Dipshit!" Taka joined in. Hidashen didn't even cringe keeping his ground.

"Apologize now! Or we'll tell our father Hi-duh-n" Jurro screeched.

"NO!" Hida yelled.

"Get him Taka!" Jurro yelled.

Hida turned and tried sprinting away before getting caught by his shirt. He was violently shoved towards the ground, before repeatedly getting hit.

"Apologize now!" Taka yelled, emphasizing with each punch to Hida's face.

"THATS NOT MY NAME" He yelled, trying desperately to defend himself.

"It is not you stupid brat! Say it! MY. NAME. IS. HIDAN."

"NO" Hida yelled, but his self control began to wither away as his body accumulated more and more bruises.

His body hurt so bad, and he was sure his bottom lip had been split, because he could taste some blood.

Soon he felt tears that were sure to fall soon.

"PLEASE STOP! LEAVE ME ALONE" He cried.

"Not until you say it" Taka grinned cruelly, kicking him the side hard.

Hida cough violently, clutching his sides and openly crying.

"whats your name dipshit?" Jurro asked once more

"Hi-dan..." Hida sobbed.

"Good boy. Now get up stupid fuck" Taka said, kicking him once more.

Through sore limbs, he picked himself little by little, wiping away blood from him mouth with his sleeve.

"Now take us home! Tattle on us and your going to wish you were never born.." Jurro threatened.

Despite the warning, that night Hida cried to his mother. She said that she'd talk to them, but he made her promise not to. After a few minuets she reassured him that everything would be alright soon. With that said, Hidan limped away to his room, where he collapsed on his bed.

(Much later)

Hidan's family issues hadn't gotten any better. His mother wasn't stupid, she knew her new sons were picking on Hida, but she couldn't afford to argue with her new husband, as he had become a bit violent as well. Something she had discovered not to long ago.

(flash back)

Hidan, now used to his new nickname, was walking aimlessly around the house. When he had accidentally walked into a heated conversation between both his parents. His stepfather gave him a dirty look.

"..sorry sir.." Hidan whispered quietly, before walking out of the room.

He went over to sit in the living room, and waited. He knew his mother and stepfather would begin a fight, and result in his mother going to her room in tears.

"Don't talk to him like that! He's only a child!" … and it began.

"A useless child! Look at my boys! Their both strong and independent!" the man bragged.

"Your sons are twice his age! And I treat them like my own!" she yelled right back. Hidan whimpered sadly on his seat, he hated when his parents fought.

"You stupid bitch! How dare you speak to me in that voice!"

"How dare you let your ungrateful sons treat my son in that way!" she countered.

"He deserved Every. Single. Time." he growled. "He will never grow up to be a man with his pathetic attitude!"

"YOU are half the man my son is-" SLAP.

His mother gasped in shock before crying out.

"Stupid bitch..."

"I'LL DIVORCE YOU! I SWEAR I WILL" Hanruen screeched.

His stepfather "pfft"

"You can't divorce me useless slut... you're broke. Ever since you no good husband left, you've had nothing. Go ahead divorce me. Lets see how long you'll last..."

(flash back to present.)

Hida couldn't take it anymore, he couldn't go an hour without some sort of beating or insult. Sometimes when his stepfather was drunk, and angry he'd put out his anger on him

Once it had gotten so bad, that he had lost consciousness from the sheer pain. On that day it was around dinner time, and his stepfather had still been out of the house. His mother knew he was probably over at the local bar, but at the moment she really couldn't give a crap.

Anyways he had gotten home that night, and he was beyond drunk and aggressive. All it took was one weird look from Hidan to get himself dragged to a room, thrown on a bed and a rain of endless lashes with a belt for the rest on the night.

He woke up the next morning in pain, and disoriented.

He couldn't take it anymore. He had to get away.

Getting up he had to bite his lip to prevent the screams that threatened to erupt from his throat if he opened his mouth.

Grabbing a drawstring bad, he stuffed a few pairs of clothes and a jacket. He grabbed a tin container he had made sure to hide really well that was full of money he had been saving since forever. And he made sure to grab his journal.

Running down the stairs, he stopped by the kitchen to grab a few water bottles and random items of food. He ran past the main door, before running off into the woods.

He wasn't sure where he was going, all he knew was that he had to go get his mother help, and find a new place where he could stay. What he knew for sure... he was never going back.

He kept a steady jog deeper into the woods until he came upon a road then jogged along side of it.

He had done a good job of keeping his jog consistent, and had been traveling for a good two hours now. It was cold, and his feet were numb, but he really couldn't care any less. It was pitch black but he could make out a dim light up ahead.

It seemed to be getting closer, then he realized it was a head light. The driver seemed to try to motion to him, before pulling up along side of him.

"Hey kid, what are you doing out here in the middle of the night?" the man said, looking him over.

"Just, going for a walk. Trying to get to the next town." he said, continuing on the road.

"If you're trying to get to the next town over, you should know you're heading the wrong direction." The man said.

Hida stopped, not believing that for the past two hours he had been traveling in the wrong direction.

"oh..."

The man seemed to look him over wonderingly, before speaking up.

"Listen, I'm heading in that direction. Hop in, I'll give you a ride and drop you off wherever once we get into town." He said motioning for him to hop into the front seat.

Hida nodded before walking over and hopping into the car.

"Thanks." he said, before settling into the seat, thankful for the rest.

"No problem..." the man with strange grey eyes, and pale skin said, all while watching him closely. Hida looked at him, before his head was pushed back.

A hand had come up from behind him, catching him by surprise, before holding a toxic smelling cloth to him mouth.

He barely had time to react or fight, before the medicines took affect on him.

"W-what.. the...heeeell.." He slurred, before losing all consciousness.

(Sometime into the future)

Hidan's eyes seemed to flutter open slowly, as a low mummer roused him from his sleep. He tried looking around the dark space, but found his neck to be stiff and sore.

He was laying on a hard cold floor, with his hands bound behind him. He was in an uncomfortable position, but he didn't move an inch realizing there was someone close by.

Being careful to be silent, he pivoted his head to try to get a better understanding of his surroundings. It was pitch black, except a small blue glow from behind him.

He couldn't see any windows, but could tell he was in a car by the sound of the engine.

Then he remembered getting into the van, and then feeling really sleepy. Feeling his sense of panic rising, he tried calming himself down, realizing there were quiet whispers coming from the front.

Listening carefully he could make some of them out.

"...So what did you bribe him with? Puppies or candy?" a masculine voice asked, laughing quietly.

"Kid needed a ride, pretty fucking easy if you ask me." a familiar voice answered.

Hidan remembered the man who had offered him the ride earlier, and decided that was the owner of the voice.

Trying to stay calm, he continued to listen.

"So, how much you think they'll take for him?"

"Depends, I'd say he's around 12ish. Not much room for training. Unless he qualifies as open for adoption soon, were not getting much." the man with the grey eyes responded.

"Guess, we'll just have to whip him into shape then..."

"Yep, go check on him. The sedative should be wearing off sometime in the next hour."

He heard some shuffling before someone approaching him. He tried staying as limp as possible, making sure to not move around and keep his eyes relaxed.

He felt a rough hand fist his hair and turn his head over. A few moments later, his head was shoved back.

"kids fine".

"Ok, leave him. Were almost at the crossing, get your shit together."

"ok ok, geez"

The man left to go and start getting all the bags ready, tossing the ones that were all packed over in Hidan's direction not caring if he hit him or not.

After everything was packed, the man sat back in his seat and waited.

"Were approaching the gate soon." the man said.

"Ah, its to be back home. Don't you agree?"

"I guess, now shut up."

They continued to drive for a while before the car came up to a gate. The driver handed his friend a key, before he left to go open the gate and let the car in.

These guys had a huge drive way! It twisted and turned all the way up till they got a view of a rather large house.

"Its amazing how we can afford such a house, right honey?"

Honey? so these firkin weirdos were in a relationship somehow.

"Yeah, if we keep it up with all these smuggling cases, we should be good for the rest of our lives."

"Forever! But if those asshole cops catch up. Were fucking screwed!" the passenger said.

"The only who is screwed will be you tonight, idiot" the driver said with a bit of humor in his voice.

"Bastard!"

"Do you think your sister will like him?"

"Temi? Why do you care?...wait a minuet! You want to keep him dont you?

"Well yeah... he's cute,"

"He's untrained, and not useful."

"B-but,"

"No,"

"Come on!"

"We'll see..."

The engine was turned off soon, and the two men got out of the car. They began taking out their things and setting them inside of their house.

Hidan opened his eyes one more time, trying to find an opening to escape, before the first guy came back and swung him over his shoulder effortlessly.

With his eyes slightly open he kept track where he was taking him to make sure he could get out. He made his way up some stairs, not the main stair case though, it was through a side door. Once he was upstairs, they moved through the first door, that led into an empty room.

It was blank. No bed, no furniture. Just a plain white mattress and bucket in the corner with a roll of toilet paper near by.

He tossed Hidan on the mattress, before reaching a shackle that was chained to a pipe in the corner of the room. He chained one of Hidan's ankles before leaving the boy alone in the room.

Hidan cracked open his eye slightly, and made sure no one ells was in the room with him. He immediately started to play with the shackle, checking if there was anyway for him to remove it. Unfortunately this kind would need more then just some tampering with a tooth pick, this one would need the key to open. Sighing frustratingly, he looked around the room checking to see what was at his disposal.

He assumed the bucket would be for his personal reasons, while a pitcher that sat near the door must be the water he would drink from. He stood up and hobbled over to the only window, and peered outside. Even if he were to yell for help no one would hear him from the main road.

"What the hell am I supposed to do now?..." He asked into the open air, as if someone would actually answer the question.

He paced around frustratingly, realizing that he was only here because he was being stupid.

Careless.

Naïve.

And now he was kidnapped.

He sat back down, trying to find a way to shimmy his way out of the shackle, but nothing worked. He tried remaining calm, knowing he had to have a clear mind. He got up and looked outside the window.

It was going to be a while before he stood under the sun again.

The very next day wasn't any better. This super sketch doctor came in to give him a "Check up". He ended up getting knocked out, and when he woke up, his hair was a bleached white, and his eyes a shocking pink. They had put drops in to keep them permanently that color, as well as his hair.

Hidan spent the rest of the day staring at his new self in the mirror, with saddened, broken eyes.

(Kakuzu's POV)

"These pieces of shit dont know anything about kidnapping, they practically left me a trail of bread crumbs..." Kakuzu muttered to himself, exiting a local bar where he had gone to ask the locals if they had seen the smugglers by any chance. He had been hot on their trail for a good week now, and he was seriously getting tired of their shit.

"According to the bar tender, they live in the next town over." Kakuzu thought to himself.

He was pretty positive he knew where they lived. Since everyone in the town was pretty much poor, they had to be the couple who lived in the one mansion, having the "resources" to pay for it.

"I should be there by noon tomorrow." he thought to himself getting onto the expressway.

(Normal POV)

"Dumb fuck, wake up." commanded a harsh voice.

Hidan cracked open an eye, finding the man from the van standing at the door way.

"W-who are you? W-what do you want from me?" Hidan asked trying not to sound scared.

"That is none of your concern, you just behave and do what I say and we will have no problems okay?" the man asked, throwing a piece of bread in Hidans direction.

"Eat up, I'm taking you to your first pet lessons in an hour, cant have that stomach growling" the man was cut off when the door bell rang. "What? ugh, Dominik! Answer the door!"

They heard a faint "I'm busy!" from down the hall.

"Dammit," the man from the van said, stomping down the stairs to go and answer the door.

Hidan sat, watching the door, trying to absorb everything that had happened up until now. He scooted over grabbing the chunk of bread, looking it over before taking a careful nibble. After taking another careful bite, he jumped slightly when he heard an abrupt thud coming from downstairs.

"Dammit! Temi! Run!"

Hidan heard another loud thud, followed by a stream of profanities. He heard more violent shuffling, before the door was roughly shut. After a few minuets of everything being quiet, he heard the door reopen, and heavy footsteps making their way upstairs.

Hidan quickly jumped onto the mattress and closed his eyes shut.

He could hear someone creak open the door, before swinging it open, and coming inside. It seemed to approach him, and get closer and closer.

"Hey kid" Kakuzu whispered.

Hidan kept his eyes shut.

"Come on I know your not really asleep."

Hidan hesitated before opening his eyes and meeting the gaze of green ones.

The man in front of him was wearing a black hood and mask. He walked over, quickly freeing Hidan from his shackle, and making his way back to face the boy.

"Alright come on." he said motioning him to enter a crate he had standing next to him.

Hidan looked at is curiously. 'he wants me to get into it?' Hidan fearfully shook his head no. the man seemed to frown, before going over and kneeling in front of the trembling albino.

"Listen, I know your frightened and you miss you Master. I'm just here to do my job, and ill make sure you get home safely, ok? But you need to do what I ask of you."

"Are you...like an officer?" Hidan asked shyly. The man in front of tried giving him a reassuring smile, even through the mask.

"Something like that, now get in the cage." Kakuzu said, with an annoying sigh.

"Well you didn't answer the question, I was kinda expecting a no, or a yes."Hidan replied sitting and crossing his arms.

Kakuzu sighed once more, before reaching back and bringing out a bottle.

"Shut up and take a nap kid." he said, while spraying Hidan in the face with a strong sedative. He caught the albino, before he faceplanted, and placed him inside the cage.

"I'm getting to old for this job." he said, making his way back to his truck, where his three guests we're yelling up a storm. He put them to sleep too, deciding he wasnt going to deal with that head ache.

He drove off towards the police office, where a receptionist was already waiting to assist him. It took about twenty minutes to unload the poachers and get them nice and locked up in their nice little cell.

Kakuzu hauled Hidan's cage over to the main office and started to fill out some paper work, until he got some disturbing news from the girl at the counter.

"What do you mean I can't keep him here!?" Kakuzu barked at the poor receptionist. The young girl jumped back, clutching her clipboard tightly.

"I'm sorry sir, but our department has no pet kennel. Usually the office on the north side of town deals with strays. I tried calling them, but they had some sort of issue with some missing files, and will be closed for the weekend." She answered warily, inching back more and more.

"So you're saying that I'm stuck with that brat until Monday morning?!" Kakuzu yelled, not believing he had to deal with the albino for three whole days.

"Monday afternoon… they open at 12" she whispered, scared that he might smack her just for answering.

"Ugh!" Kakuzu grunted, throwing his arms up in the air in frustration. " So you just expect me to take him home?"

"Well yeah…" the receptionist whispered. "He's still under your custody until all the proper paperwork gets filed…"

Kakuzu stormed out, grabbing a hold of Hidans cage and storming out the door. He tossed him into the back of his truck, not too gently either, and drove off towards home.

"I guess Tobi's getting a playmate after all…" He said in a slight sigh.

The drive home took about two hours, which went by smoothly and quietly, since Hidan stayed asleep. After pulling up into the drive way Kakuzu breathed a sigh of relief, finally being home after a long road trip for work. Getting out, he swiftly took out Hidans cage, carrying him up to the house, where his little brother Sasori was the first to greet him.

"Kakuzu, you're finally home. How was the trip?" Sasori asked, deciding it was best not to mention Kakuzus new house guest.

"Boring, those two idiots made it way too easy." Kakuzu replied casually, dropping the carry-on by the door entrance, before making his way to the kitchen where the rest of his family was in the middle of their dinner.

"He-hey! Kuzu! You're back early! Those dumbass didn't give you much of chase did they?" asked Kisame, while taking a bite of his spaghetti.

"Nah, they were just a bunch of tools." Kakuzu replied, starting to pile himself a plate from the table.

"Did you have a good time?" "Score any chicks?" The bipolar twins asked, simultaneously sipping their drinks.

"CHICKS! TOBI LOVES CHICKENS!" Zetsu's flamboyant little pet, came running into the room, holding lollipops in his hands, while wearing a blanket tied around his neck like a cape.

"Oh darn it! Who gave my Tobi candy?" "Mother Fuc… Don't you know he's hard enough to handle all ready Sue?!" The grumpiest of the twins called out, knowing the push-over maid was the one responsible for giving his pet the sweets.

Sue the second eldest maid, poked her head out from behind the door, feigning innocence.

"I don't know what you're talking about," she said, with a big smile.

"hmm, well no matter. Why don't you hand those to me sweetie. There going to melt in your hand." Zetsu asked the sugar high Tobi, holding his hand out for the treats.

"These are for Tobi and Tobi's new buddy!" Tobi yelled, running up to Hidan's cage that was up against the wall. He kneeled beside it, before poking in a lollipop, and waited patiently for the white haired boy to say thank you.

" You brought a pet home?" Zetsu asked.

Kakuzu in the middle of eating his dinner sighed, remembering the boy.

"Not by choice..." he mumbled.

"A new pet!" Mai cheered, puting her tray down on the table and making her way quickly to the cage that was sitting next to the main door.

"Hey! Mai get away from him, he's a vicious untrained human. He could be dangerous." Kakuzu yelled, getting up from his seat.

"Nonsense, the poor thing is knocked out cold, plus look at that adorable face! Does he look like a killer to you?" she said sarcastically, opening the door, and reaching in to tousle the albinos hair gently.

"Mai, close that door now!" Kakuzu yelled, running over to the curious maid," It's best to keep that thing sedated until I can take his to the office on Monday."

"You plan on keeping him sedated until then? The poor this will starve to death, heaven knows they don't feed them at the holding kennels either. I for one, am not planing on letting the poor thing go hungry while he is under this roof." She said, grabbing the limp boys arms and scooting him out of the cage. Hidan stirred a bit from the movement, but stayed asleep.

"Oh look he's waking up! He's waking up Zetsu-sama!" Tobi cheered tugging on the twins sleeve.

"Yes, Tobi I see that," "Tobi, please shut up"

Mai scooped Hidan up in her arms, and rocked him back and forth quietly, hoping he'd wake soon.

"Oh, look he's waking up!" Mai said excitedly.

Hidan groaned, and groggily opened his eyes, finding himself face to face with a wide-set of teeth. The girl who was holding onto him, was smiling right in his face, making his jump back. Mai giggled slightly, letting the teen sit himself up.

"Hi honey, my names Mai, welcome to your new home!" she said, patting his back. Kakuzu grunted.

"No, this is not his home, its a temporary stay, but not a home." Kakuzu mumbled, crossing his arms.

"W-where am I?" Hidan asked, trying hard not to stutter and seem tougher then he was.

"Don't be afraid, were going to take good care of you," Mai said, helping him to his feet and guiding him to the dinner table. She sat him down, and quickly fixed a plate for him. Hidan didn't hesitate to dig in, especially since he hadn't had anything to eat in quite a while.

"Oh Kuzu-sama! Can we keep him please?!" Tobi asked hurriedly, jumping up and down.

"I'm afraid we can't keep him, Tobi, he'll be going to a new home," Sasori commented.

"But whyy?!" Tobi whined.

"Because Kuzu-sama is a big fat meanie!" Mai pouted, giving Kakuzu a small glare, and pouting her lip.

Kakuzu rolled his eyes, and proceeded to leave the room. "Well I can see that i'm not really wanted, so I'll be off."

"Aww, don't be like that bro." Kisame said, patting his older brothers shoulder, " You know we're just teasing, plus we're all going to help you watch over the kid. okay?"

Kakuzu sighed, and nodded, " Alright, but first he needs. Then we'll start showing him some manners."

In a swift motion, he grabbed Hidans arm, and dragged him out of his seat, carrying him up the stairs towards his bedroom.

"Hey let me go asshole!" Hidan hissed, very soon regretting it. As soon as the words left his mouth, and hard swat was met with his backside. Hidan yelped in pain, rubbing his butt with his free hand.

"I would watch your mouth, especially around me." Kakuzu warned, pushing the boy into the bathroom, and tossing him a towel. " Get in the shower, and clean yourself up. I'll leave some clothes you can wear on the bed. Then I expect you to come downstairs to the family room. I'll give you fifteen minutes, or else I'm coming after you. Is that understood?"

Hidan glared up the man, ordering him around. It was hard to believe that after finally escaping his step-father, he was stuck with another asshole all over again.

"Yeah... Whatever." Hidan muttered, closing the bathroom door. Kakuzu jaw tightened, restraining himself from strangling the little disrespectful human, and made his way back to the family room.

20 minutes later. Kakuzu sat on the couch irritably drumming his fingers. The kid was late. And that really pissed him off.

He would give him five more minutes before he marched right upstairs and dragged him by his bleached white hair.

25 minutes late...

With an angry huff, Kakuzu got up from his seat. Marched up the stairs. And was close to ripping the door right off its hinges, but he heard a muffled cry that made him stop. He knew it must have been the boy, and felt slightly bad... only slightly. He sighed, deciding to head back to the living room, where he would wait for the kid.

He sat skimming though a news paper, when he heard quiet shuffling at the door. He looked up seeing the albino with slightly damp hair, and red puffy eyes. obviously trying hard not to show that he was crying.

"I'm sorry, I just needed a little alone time... Plus, no offense dude, but you have like a million bottles of shampoo. Not to mention I needed to read all the chemicals in the conditioner bottles! My hair has ver specific needs." Hidan said, his voice hinting a bit of sarcasm, hopefully lighting up the mood.

Kakuzu grinned, knowing the kid was just trying to hide his nerves by trying to joke a bit.

"Well I hope my assortment of shampoos and conditioners met your needs. But for now why don't you take a seat and we can get this over with." Kakuzu replied motioning for the boy to take the seat across from him.

Hidan didn't hesitate, and plopped down in front of the weird man, combing his fingers through his still slightly damp hair.

"Sooooooo, whatcha wanna talk about, police-man-sir." Hidan asked, giving Kakuzu a small salute.

Kakuzu rolled his eyes slightly, before sighing a bit annoyed.

"Well, erm.. this might sound a bit weird, but I actually want to talk about you. The more that I know, will help me build a more accurate profile. It will then help the Abandoned Pet program file a report easier, and place you in the proper group, blah blah. All very important police-sir-man work. All very official." Kakuzu replied, scanning though some paperwork quickly.

"Wait, wait, wait. Before we start this glorified interview, can someone please explain to me why the hell you people keep referring to me as a "Pet". I mean, what the hell? is that like code for something? Or is it a new thing that I just haven't found out about yet? Am I really that un-informed? We certainly have never used this lingo, back where I used to live" Hidan asked, showing his most legit confused he could accomplish.

Kakuzu stared at the albino, trying to figure out if the kid was kidding or not.

"So... You really don't know what I'm talking about?" Kakuzu asked, gotting this obvious important note in his notebook.

"Well um.. no? Look man, life back home sucks. So It would really be helpful if you would just help me out and let me continue with my "running away". This time hopefully not interrupted. It was nice of you too help me out back their with those weirdos, but I'm sure I can manage on my own from now on."

Kakuzu grinned.

"If only it were that easy kid..."

"But it can be! Just let me back out onto the streets!" Hidan half cheered.

"Pssh, and risk losing my job? Do you know how much paperwork that would take? Not to mention the loss in my income!"

Hidan's eyes widened.

"So you're telling me that you're the same as those other losers! You sell children through the underground railroad! FOR A FEW BUCKS!"

"I think you have your history wrong there..."

"So what! You're still a creeper!"

"What did you call me?"

Hidan stuck his chin up defiantly.

"I said, You're nothing but a motheri-fing creeper!"

Kakuzu sprang out of his seat in less than a second. Grabbing the albino roughly by the collar of his shirt.

"Hey! let me go!" Hidan yelled, trying to wiggle out of the mans grip.

"Not until you learn your well deserved lesson in respect." Kakuzu muttered, dangerously low.

Hidan instantly became scared, realizing he had gone to far. This man was going to seriously hurt him.

"No, No Kakuzu-sama don't!" Hidan begged.

"You can't say that I didn't warn you. Bad boys deserve to be punished." Kakuzu replied, dragging the boy up the stairs.

"Please! Please! I'm sorry!" Hidan begged. Anticipating a beating Hidan tried pulling away harder, but was surprised when he felt Kakuzu's hand rest on the small his back.

"The longer you take, the worse you're going to get it."

Hidan gulped, his knees wobbling slightly, knowing he wasn't going to get out of his impending doom.

They finally reached Kakuzu'z bedroom, and Hidan was close to breaking into tears.

' Just don't show him you're weak. You just have to be brave.' Hidan thought to himself. Kakuzu slammed the bedroom door close, and brought the albino over to a corner, plopping him down and making him face the wall.

"Hidan, you're in the quiet corner for swearing and yelling at me. You will sit here for five minutes. The timer starts as soon as you calm down." Kakuzu warned, crossing his arms and looking down at the extremely confused teen.

' The quiet corner... this creeper is putting me in a time-out?' Hidan couldn't believe it! Sure he was happy as hell that no leather had made contact with him yet, but he certainly wasn't going to sit in a god damn corner!

"NO. I will not sit in a corner. I'm not five!" Hidan was quick to get up, but was abruptly pushed back down. He tried fighting, but Kakuzu's strength was all that more powerful than his own.

"Hidan your in the quiet corner for yelling and swearing." Kakuzu placing him back in the corner, re-acknowledging the punishment.

Hidan screamed and thrashed around, but Kakuzu's arms kept him there. Frustrated with his failed attempts at getting away, he yelled once more giving up the fight. Crossing his arms across his chest and turning away from Kakuzu angrily. Kakuzu waited a few seconds before leaving the red hot teenager glaring holes into the wall.

After a few more moments of frustration, anger, embarrassment, and the fact that he couldn't fight him off led Hidan to break down in tears. It was a pitiful cry. Full of all the emotion Hidan had been bundling up ever since he had gotten there.

Going from a life like a slave, to a five year old seemed to be really upsetting Hidan at that moment. He continued to sob, pulling at his own hair and kicking the wall halfheartedly. Kakuzu sat watched as the new pet tossed around in emotional distress.

"Why are you so upset Hidan?" Kakuzu asked, but his question went unnoticed by him. He decided the kid needed a little talking time first, or else he'd be the host of an all night tantrum.

Sighing he got up, walking over to him. Hidan shivered slightly, now expecting a whip to be lashed out. Kakuzu grabbed hold of his arm and picked him up effortlessly off of the ground. He half carried, half dragged him over to the bed.

Kakuzu ignored his cries as he sat down on the bed, keeping a grip on the upper part of both Hidan's arms. He scooted back, while Hidan dug his heels on the floor. It didn't work though, as he was pulled with Kakuzu, while Kakuzu rested against the head rest.

Hidan was now hovering right over Kakuzu's lap, almost sitting down. Releasing one of Hidan's arms, he brought up his free hand behind Hidan, causing him to yelp and flinch away.

He held his breath, closing his eyes tightly waiting for him to receive some sort of strike when he least expected it. But one never came, instead the foreign hand, warm and embracing held him gently. Kakuzu's hand rubbed up and down slowly, warming him up and relaxing his coiled up muscles. It felt marvelous, but such a luxury was something that Hidan had never felt before, and it made him feel uneasy.

Bending his knees he tried standing up, but the hand kept him down with minimal force. He tried once more to try to wiggle his way out, but Kakuzu didn't let him budge. He held still, a million thoughts swarming through his head. He didn't allow himself to settle down, but he was getting tired of the awkward kneeling position he was in.

Deciding he would try to get away once more, he suddenly tugged with all his might. Kakuzu grunted, gathering him back up, this time wrapping his arm around his middle completely.

"Hidan, Hidan. You were finally calming down. Enough" Kakuzu whispered, embracing him. He rocked gently from side to side. Instinctively Hidan hugged him back, overwhelmed by the sensations he was getting.

"W-why aren't you p-punishing me? W-why a-are y-you not y-yelling at m-me? And i-insulting m-me?" Hidan cried, into Kakuzu's shoulder.

Kakuzu smiled softly, stroking his hair lovingly. The kid had a breaking point after all.

"I tried Hidan, I put you in the corner but you wouldn't hold still." Kakuzu whispered, smiling lightly at the growing wetness on his shirt. "I know its boring to stare at a wall. But its supposed to help you think and 'reflect'... to be honest, I don't know why Zetsu insists on this being effective"

"I g-guess, the boring part is the w-worst. Having to just s-sit there." Hidan muttered, trying to steady himself.

"Hmm, yeah I guess you're right... So now Hidan, what are we going to do with you?" Kakuzu asked, giving his back a gentle pat.

Hidan quietly slipped out of the bed, and walked over to the corner sitting down and keeping his nose towards the wall.

' good boy... maybe the kid can be trained.'

After about ten minutes, which Kakuzu thought was an appropriate add-on, he called the albino over.

Hidan shuffled over, and sat down next to Kakuzu.

"Well Hidan, thank you for accepting your punishment, and acting appropriatley. But there is still an issue that needs to be taken care of."

"Whats the issue?"

"Well, in our world, there are very strict rules. Any human in knowledge of our world, must be kept under supervision. I understand that going back home is something you wouldn't be up for, but at the same time I can't just let you run around. So we have to options. One, I take care of all that tedious paperwork, and I get you admitted to an abandoned pet program, who all in all will meet your basic needs, a few quaint meals, but I can't promise anything about the quality of a home you get adopted into, or if you even get adopted..."

"W-well... whats the second option?"

"Option 2... you stay here, and become part of our family."

Hidan sat and thought, before smiling and nodding his head. "I'd like that."

Kakuzu mentally cheered for himself, but of course kept his composure.

"Well excellent. Theres a lot for you to learn, of course. But I promise to take care of you. First things first, we need to break the news to everyone else. Come on Hidan."

"Hidashen,"

"Hmm?"

Hidan blushed a little, looking down.

"My real name is Hidashen, but I actually don't mind Hidan now."

"Oh really? What changed?"

Hidan couldn't help but tear up. It didn't go unnoticed by Kakuzu, who patted his head gently.

"You're the first one... to call me that... without hate. With kindness. And...I... just really appreciate that."

Kakuzu grinned, giving Hidan's hair a gentle toss.

"Heh, any time kid."

The End.
