I am Back! *Le cringe*
THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU SO MUCH! I wasn't expecting 33 followers, 14 reviews and 20 favorites in the first chapter itself! I am not a very good writer I accept. But I do try very hard.
And you don't know how much I love you guys!
Disclaimer: Do I need to tell? I mean it's pretty obvious. *sad sigh* :(
"Clarissa, you are going to get married," Valentine said with a cold smile etched across his facial features.
Clary's eyes went wide and she choked on her steak. Married? Beside her, she heard a deep and a weary sigh from Jonathon. Did he know about this? After a few minutes, Clary finally got her tongue back as she took in Valentine's words.
"What do you mean by getting married?" Clary said in a hoarse voice.
"Why of course. Marriage." Valentine said with the awful smile on his face yet she noticed the impatience in his voice.
Clary stood up from the table and looked at her father dead in the eye. "I am not getting married."
How could he be so...so blunt? How could she be so naïve?
"Why won't you get married?" Valentine bellowed as he banged his hands on the table.
Clary flinched. She helplessly looked at her brother but he sat there like a statue, his face emotionless. She took a deep breath to calm herself down.
"Father. I will not get married." Clary said in an extremely calm tone. If her father pushed her buttons anymore, she will lose control over her temper. And whenever she did that, well...let's just say that she made some really stupid decisions.
"I won't repeat myself now. I said that you will get married and that's it. End of discussion." He said breathing heavily.
She will not give in today. She had enough of her father and his selfish needs. Today because of him, their family was broken. Mom is in a coma and Jonathon is depressed. All because of the monster standing in front of her.
"I won't. Not today. Look at yourself! You are pathetic! Ready to sell your daughter for your precious little company. Have you ever even considered my decisions? No! because you were too busy pampering yourself!" She yelled.
Valentine's eyes turned, even more, darker than his normal onyx shade. His eyes had a murderous glint. But Clary wasn't the one to give in so easily.
"Well, would you look at that. How easily have you turned the tables." He said menacingly. A shiver ran down her spine.
"Of course I would sell you for my company dear Clarissa. And you know why?" He bent forward. "Because I don't consider you as my daughter. You are just a burden I am consecutively trying to get rid of. So I thought why not even benefitting myself through it?"
Tears threatened to spill from her eyes. How could this man be so cruel? She clutched her purse tightly as Valentine started heading towards his room.
"Natalie will send you the pre-nuptial agreement between the two families tomorrow. Joseph will be waiting by the limo to drop you home," he said before banging the door shut.
The tears had already started to blur her vision as she stood there alone. She felt pathetic right now. Her whole life thrown away. After all, she was a burden.
"Clary I will go and talk to him. Just wait by the entrance." Jonathon finally said as he stood up.
She noticed the dark circles around his eyes and the weariness in his posture. She hastily wiped the tears from her cheeks and proceeded towards the doors as Jon went inside the room.
She waited for fifteen minutes until finally Jonathon came back looking more exhausted than before. She nervously waited for him to speak.
"I couldn't do anything." He finally said.
The little ray of hope that was left in her, vanished. She inhaled sharply to compose herself.
"Why. Why is he so cruel?" She asked her brother.
A quick emotion passed through his eyes before turning into steel. "This marriage is for the benefit of the company. Can't sacrifice anything just for once?"
Clary blinked in surprise from his harsh tone. "What?"
"All I'm saying is that I always compromised and sacrificed everything? Why can't you just do it for once? Is it too hard for you snobby self?"
"Unbelievable." She whispered as she looked at Jonathon in disbelief.
"This is marriage! Not a joke! All my dreams, my freedom, everything will be gone!" Clary exclaimed.
"What about my dreams? I gave up on my career to save you! Dad was right...you are nothing but a burden." He finally said as he turned and went inside.
Clary bit her lip to stop herself from breaking down. She just can't believe that Jonathon, her brother would say something like this.
That's it. She was getting married to some stranger because she was nothing but a burden.
Clary unstrapped her stilettos and slung them across her shoulders. She was the stupidest person living in this world right now. Anger coursed through her veins as she thought of tonight's events.
Blisters had started to appear on her feet and it was getting painful to take another step. Why was she so prideful to accept the limousine? At least it would have dropped her safely at her apartment. But instead, she was walking barefoot on an unknown street in the middle of the night.
She could have called the cab but her purse had only 20 dollars left in them. So yeah she was broke. She tried calling Simon millions of times but he won't pick up.
She sighed. Even though she knew krav maga, she was a girl walking alone on the streets of Manhattan in the middle of the night, wearing a strapless dress.
Finally, out of energy and extreme pain in her feet, she decided to rest on the sidewalk. She was the most unfortunate person walking on this planet right now. Not a single car was in sight. She sighed frustratingly. Out of exhaustion, she shut her eyes and rested her body on the street light.
HONK! HONK!
Clary opened her eyes. A sleek Lamborghini was waiting in front of her. It's waxed surface was reflecting the light coming from the street light.
"Wow." She whispered as she eyed the model in awe.
"I know." a deep voice spoke.
A blond-haired man was standing with his weight on the car. God, the man was way more 'Wowza' material than the car. He was wearing a white button-up shirt that was showing his toned abs hidden underneath. And his jawline was extremely sharp as if it could cut metal. And God, that sexy smirk that was playing on his lips. She could melt right there.
"Take a picture. It lasts longer." He said in a very amused voice. Shit, she didn't realize she was drooling. But he sure was a cocky asshole.
"I'm sorry but my phone can't take pictures of obnoxious and trashy people." She said smiling.
His cocky smirk grew bigger than before. She huffed.
"Uh...what are you doing here?" She asked cautiously.
"Well, first of all, I should be the one asking you that. And second, I decided to do a good deed today and came here to give you a lift." He said crossing his arms.
She narrowed her eyes. What the hell did he want?
"What do you mean by 'came here to give you a lift'?" She asked.
"Well, I was driving past here when I noticed you standing alone on the street, And then I thought it was unsafe for you to stand here alone at night, And decided I will take the responsibility of dropping you home." He explained.
She huffed. Yeah, no way. "Did you seriously think that I'll buy that bullshit?"
"It's your choice. I don't like forcing girls at all. They come at me by choice." He said raising his hands in defense.
"Oh, I'm sorry for them." She said in fake sympathy.
This time, his smirk was wiped off his face. Point for Clary!
"I am a busy man. Now if you want to consider my offer, get in or stay here all by yourself and face the horrors." He said impatiently.
"How do I know that you aren't a serial killer or worse a rapist?" She asked.
"Well, I have a reputation to maintain. So cross off the serial killer. And..." He made a big show of checking her out. "I am not interested in flat chests."
She gasped as he smirked. She wasn't flat-chested! But compared to other girls...she might as well be. But she was a B-cup.
"Are you coming or not?" he asked.
Should she go with him? He was an asshole but he didn't seem like he would do any harm to her. And even if he did, She at least would be able to practice some moves on him.
Jace Herondale has finally entered! What will happen on the ride home? And what about the marriage contract? Was Jace aware of it?
The next chapter will contain Jace's POV! And thank you all for reviewing, following and favoriting!
Stay tuned!
