A/N Damn so first let me say sorry for the time between updates. I was dealing with a lot of crap, ranging from a new girlfriend who became a ex, three different moves, start of university, and a bunch of writers block. I know its not much of an excuse but it is what it is. So here is the next chapter. I still need a beta writer who can read over my chapters and help me out, as well as kicking me in the butt to update more then once every two years. If you are interested the PM me and we will talk. My disclaimer is the same as ever. I do not own Harry Potter or anything from the story Make a Wish.
Chapter 2
The aftermath
"Hermione, he captured and killed Hermione" George picked up with tears in his eyes."
With that one sentence Harry felt his whole world collapse. Hermione the one person who was always there for him when he needed it was gone. Gone because of a mad man bent on killing him. Hermione had taken from him… taken from her friends because he had ran away. Rage slowly built up in his stomach. "When did this happen?"
"She was captured a month an a half ago, but we only where able to find her body a month ago. We had the funeral three weeks ago." Fred said finally getting control of his emotions. "The Order all looked for her Harry believe me, George and I went as far as trying to spike Snape's tea with veritaserum but he most of sensed something was wrong and banished his tea." He added.
"She didn't go quietly you know. She killed 5 Death Eaters before she was stunned, and had fatally injured another 4 and this was out of ten Death Eaters sent." George added seeing the look of absolute rage on Harry's face.
"I know she wouldn't have gone quietly, all the training with the DA made sure of that but my question is why didn't Snape warn the Order about this, tell us where she was, or get her a portkey?" Harry demanded. He could barely could control his rage, and sorrow but knew that Fred and George where not the people to direct his rage at. Voldemort, Dumbledore, Snape, and the store keeper where to blame in one way or the other.
"Snape said he didn't know she was going to be grabbed and couldn't find where she was being held before she was killed." George said rolling his eyes. Harry could tell that he didn't believe Snapes story.
"Well I guess I will have to just ask Snivellus next time I see him" Harry said with a cold smile. "and if he refuses to answer I will show him why I am feared… yes I do believe I will do that." he added "Well its been a slice but I have a store keeper to beat and a bank to visit" Harry said as he walked out the door.
Fred and George both look at each other with unease. "You know my dear brother I do believe that moldeshorts made a mistake going after Hermione like that" Fred said.
"Yes my dear brother I do believe you are right." George answered as they both got back to work. Harry's mood did not change as we walked up to the one store that started this all with the wand the Professor made out.
"Ahh young Mr. Black how was your vacation" inquired the store keeper that start it all seemly unworried about the rage pouring of Harry or the wand in his hand.
"It was eventful, you know the exact opposite of what I wanted" Harry spoke through clenched teeth. "Also not only am I angry about that but I'm angry that you sold me a SEP field device that didn't work so because of the events my best mate was killed so we need to talk, now. Close up."
"Have you ever read the Iliad Mr. Black?" The shop keeper asked as he locked up and closed the shutters.
"Yes I have. I do not know how this relates to anything but yes I have. Now stop stalling." Harry responded.
"One must be careful of unwanted ears," the shop keeper said glancing around.
"Do you perhaps remember Cassandra, the woman cursed to see the future but unable to effect it? What do you suppose would happen if she had children and her powers clung to the family line?"
"I have some ideas," Harry allowed. "But it would be in your best interests to continue."
"We wondered the world for a time, and many of us went mad." The shop keep hissed, "do you know what it's like to be tormented by images and unable to change them. But we were talking about the family, one day one of them realised something . . . they realised that the power that would not allow them to save their empire would allow them an advantage in the business world."
"So we have a wand maker that always knows your name and can usually find something for you without too much trouble, a series of shop keepers that know more than they will admit and always have some sort of item that will turn out to be needed in the future?" Harry exhaled, "Now my SEP device, why did it not work?
"The SEP field device didn't work?" The shopkeeper was puzzled, "What do you mean?"
"I mean that didn't work," Harry snorted. "Sure it kept people from recognising 'the great Harry Potter' but it didn't do a thing to make my life less exciting."
"May I see it," the shopkeeper examined the item for a few moments. "I find that it works better when you turn it on, at the moment you have it on the lowest setting. Next time read the instruction manual."
"And just why should I have needed to read the instruction manual?" Harry asksd sarcastically, I mean after all you did say and I quote "want to immerse yourself in the culture huh, got just the thing, this bracelet creates a powerful SEP field around you and it will help you remained unnoticed unless you commit an aggressive or incredibly strange act" so be what you said all I needed to do was put it on."
"Well I thought most people would assume that there was more to a device then just that" the store keeper drawled. "After all I did hand you a bundle of books that needed to be read."
Harry just look at the store keeper in shock "So you are saying that everything is my fault?" He asked dangerously
"Well yes" the store keeper responded before a silenced cutting curse took his head off.
"I hope you burn in hell." Harry responded shaking with anger. Turning around he headed to the Gringotts to see if he his family had left any books in their vaults.
Storming into Gringotts and to the next open teller. "You Teller Gutsgrabber I want to see the next available account manger." He demanded.
'Well human they aren't available for anyone." Gutsgrabber drawled looking up from his notebook. Seeing who it was his eyes widened "But for you Mr Potter I do believe we could find the time. Now just one moment." Gutsgrabber said before ducking down and pulling out a different notebook that was bigger then the one he was working on. "The next available manager is tomorrow at 9 am." He responded after looking at the book. "Does this work for you?" He asked looking up with a little fear in his eyes at the angry wizard.
"It will have to work I guess." Harry responded as he turned and walked off. "Looks like I'm spending the night at the Leaky Cauldron" He muttered as a owl swooped down and held out his leg after landing on his shoulder. Pulling the letter off and sending the owl on its way Harry began to read.
Dear Mr. Black,
You may not know who I am so let me introduce myself. My name is Professor Severus Snape. I teach Potions at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and I need your help. I will be at the Broken Quill in Knockturnalley for the rest of the day if you wish to meet up. The matter I wish to discuss is a delicate one and one that would mean a profit for you.
Your,
Severus Snape.
He couldn't help but smile because in a stroke of luck the one person he wanted to talk to, wanted to talk to him.
