The pitter patter of feet echoed through the otherwise silent home as a child no older than five ran to the kitchen. Hair which could only be described as something akin to a lion's mane or perhaps a bird's nest, bounced as she sped through the halls, her curls unruly and alive making her already petite face appear even smaller. Honey eyes determined regardless of the harsh beat of her heart loud in her ears.
She tried to steady her breaths as she made it to the refrigerator, it wouldn't do to be caught. If she hurried she should be able to sneak some food before they came home. As quickly as her tiny hands would allow, she grabbed onto the fridge door yanking it open.
There wasn't much she could reach at her height, but she did spot some yogurt with in her reach and a banana. She would eat the yogurt first and keep the banana for dinner.
They wouldn't feed her until the end of the week at best. Stuffing the banana into the waist band of her oversized pants, they were an old pair of jeans that belonged to Jane, she had cut off the pants at the knee and had her wear them for clothes.
She didn't deserve her own clothes, certainly not ones they'd have to pay for. The yogurt she stuffed in her sleeve, closing the fridge door as quickly as possible before turning to run back to the attic. She'd nearly made it to the steps leading up into her small room when the front door burst open.
"Brat, where the bloody hell are you?" It was her father, rage coloring his voice amplifying each word.
Fear gripped at her heart, scrambling up the steps she ran into her room, hiding her food underneath a loose floorboard she'd discovered a few weeks before.
"Stupid brat get down here!" His voice getting louder as he got closer, he was getting closer.
Securing the floorboard back in place she ran back to the entrance of her makeshift room, jumping down the steps as fast as her legs would allow, missing the last step and falling face first onto the ground, right in front of her father.
A hand made its way into her hair grabbing onto the unruly curls and yanking her up to eye level.
She winced, tears welling up in her eyes.
"Look at me filth." Her eyes slowly crept up his face, taking in the snarl and the hatred in his eyes glaring straight at her. She swallowed down the whimper threatening to come out.
"Y-yes s-sir," she stuttered as she fought the urge to grab onto her hair in a futile attempt to lessen the pain, knowing he'd only hurt her worse.
His snarl seemed to grow, the disgust in his eyes blatant as he tugged harder at her hair.
Her teeth tore at her lips, drawing blood.
"I'm having some friends over and you're going to stay in your bloody corner and not make a damn sound got it?"
A timid nod later and the hand in her curls finally loosened only to intensify. He twisted the hair in his hand, blood trickled down the side of her face. "I asked if you understood filth? Answer me!" The veins in his throat pronounced, his spittle flew onto her face going into her eyes.
"Yes sir!" She all but screamed.
She wasn't allowed to call them anything else, they claimed it was repulsive enough to even share the same blood as her, much less have her call them parents.
"Tsch." The feeling of the wooden floors breaking her fall, informed her he was done with her.
He stomped down the stairs, locking her up in the attic.
Feeling the hot liquid run down the side of her face she reached up and wiped at it, knowing the small amount of bleeding and a throbbing headache was nothing compared to what he could and would do to her.
She'd been lucky he was in a good mood, there was no telling how bad it would have been otherwise.
A/N: I've wanted to rewrite this for a while now and finally got around to it. There were just too many things that wouldn't have made sense later on or really connected. I realized my hatred for Ron would have clouded and led to unreasonable actions. It'll still be the same concept just hopefully written better. Updates will hopefully be frequent and if possible weekly. Thank you to all those who have stuck around and will continue. I hope you all have a wonderful day.
