How come we don't say I love you enough, 'til it is too late.

Arthur wakes up, sleepy eyes greeting the world with a vibrant green. He looks as though he does not know where he is until Alfred's blood-shot eyes finally come into his view.

Whatever he is about to say stays lodged in his throat. Alfred is beautiful... broken but beautiful.

His eyebrows furrow when Alfred begins to fuss and a hand shoots out to weakly grab at his wrist. 'Sit,' he gasps out, eyes half lidded. He is already tired from the chemotherapy he promised to try for Alfred despite the percentage being so small…

He did it for himself too though, because he is selfish and wants to hold Alfred's heart forever. He doesn not want him to fall in love with someone else. His hand tightens around the wrist, catching Alfred's gaze.

'I love you,' he chokes out, tears gathering in his eyes.

'I love you so much you bloody git…' He repeats in a breathless whisper, chest already heaving. His tears pool and then fall, creating loving tracks that highlight his bone structure and give the situation a disgusting sense of beauty.

Alfred stares because Arthur resembles a fallen angel, taking on the sins of others. Something close enough to Alfred's honest opinion of the situation that he canot help but cry too. He lovingly whisper for only Arthur to hear, 'I love you more.'

And then Arthur laughs among the tears, because this is god damn ridiculous. The coughs soon come and Arthur is curling in on himself. Blood, blood that has been a reminder for quite some time of how slim the chances are speckle his hand and the covers. Alfred stands up, ready to call for a nurse but Arthur waves him off, landing wearily back into the pillow, a small bitter sweet smile greeting Alfred.

'You make everything a bloody competition,' he murmurs the smile spread across his face fond despite the fact his eyes are glazed in pain, love and maybe the drugs he is on. 'Does'nt mean I love you any less though…'

Once again, thanks for reading this and getting this far.
