Chapter 2: A new start
Sapphire smiled at one Ruby before following her up the stairs. The guards did some kind of gesture as she walked past out the door.
"Pearl, One hour! Get to it!" Yelled Yellow once Sapphire was out of sight "Yes, my Diamond..." Pearl whispered while tugging at his wrist. While walking away, Daniel could feel the Diamond staring him down, but didn't dare look back.
"You are most likely going to see some rather strange things for yourself, so just keep quiet" As they reached the top, the guard standing there raced down towards yellow. Few of them looked while most hurried on.
Pearl went right to a panel on the wall. With a press, strange symbol's strung and flew about it, and few pearl pressed. The stone doors opened up. Looking back was a large hallway with many other larger hallways to the sides.
Each entrance on the sides had symbols set in shiny stone above that he didn't understand. By most entrance there were stone pillars reaching the ceiling.
Pearl took his arm again racing down the hallway. As Daniel looked down to his left and right, he saw gem like people rushing to and fro. Some were tall while others were short. Some were green, yellow or even blue. Some had armor while some had clothes like Pearl.
Not every hallway was open however, some doors were shut with red glowing at the seams. Pearl hurried down not even looking up.
"How do you know where you're going?" Daniel asked, but she didn't reply and kept pulling. At some point there was a break in the corridors with solid metal and stone. But every now and again there was a window. When looking out he couldn't see earth anywhere, madder of fact, didn't even see the sun or any stars for that matter, just complete blackness
"Okay, just answer this one question then..." Daniel stopped following willfully. Pearl had a drawn out sigh turning around
"Make it quick. Mind you I'm only being nice cause MAYBE you will be a Diamond some day" Her last statement resonated inside his head for a second
"Uh, out there. Where are all the stars?" Pearl stopped and looked out too with him
"Simple. We are moving too fast for their light to reach us" Pearl responded nonchalantly. Daniel made sure he had a solid footing after hearing this
"noooo, no. That's impossible. How can you travel faster than the speed of light and NOT even feel it" She took his arm again, but didn't start moving
"Listen, I'm just a Pearl, not a Peridot or Zircon, But you shouldn't feel anything. Our gravity neutralization's tuned to your earth. We took great measures encase we would fine a match early, and early we did"
After Pearl vented a little to him, she hurried forward even faster now. The sides stop having windows and was solid metal, not even stone anymore. Around him it was growing wider and the lights were getting farther away
Before Daniel knew it, he was inside a hanger size room. Large enough for anything larger than a diamond and then some. The room was rather bare expect a pair of metal spiral staircase in the far right corner
"Those stairs will take you to the room. It's the first door on the left" Pearl was busy fumbling with something on her arm to notice him. Daniel walked his way over to the stairs quickly going up them.
Pearl stayed by the entrance still messing with something on her arm. The door was there like she said, but was more of curtain. Once pulled aside he was greeted with a simple room for simple human needs.
A bed to the left in the stone tiles. A water fountain running on rocks and some three shelving coming out of the wall. Also there was a table tucked away in the corner with three chairs and a letter sitting on top.
Daniel didn't pay any attention to it while eye balling the bed. The room was quite warm, this made him even more tired. Along with his emotions getting caught up, he collapsed onto the bed crying away. At what he didn't really honestly know. Nothing truly bad has happened to him, but still this felt like the end.
After napping for what only felt like five minutes, was long enough for Pearl to return.
"Found some old ship fitting and molded them together into some standard passable clothes" She mumbled throwing them to the floor. It was a brown pair of pants and shirt, he picked them up staring to pearl, expecting her to say something
"Ten minutes before the Diamond comes" She let go of the curtain waking away. The clothes felt smooth, slick and form fitting. reminded him of what she was wearing. Once fitted he walked out looking down below.
What waited was rather strange. Three small green gem he saw earlier when walking the halls, they were hovering over a short table to the ground that didn't have anything on it. Yellow Pearl was waiting for him once he reached the bottom.
The three small gems looked to Daniel as if they were waiting for him to speak. Once he made eye contact they quickly looked away.
"Don't mind them, they're Peridots. Not know for being kind..." Whispered Pearl leaning over a bit
"Who is?" She made a mocking face before looking back to the Peridots. From the right in the large hanger, came a taller Peridot. She had longer arms and legs, also triangle blond hair with a visor covering most of her face. Seemed to be the leader by the gestures they gave.
Peridot's metal boots echoed through the hanger as she closed the gap between the other three. They spoke in a high pitch tone and in a languge he didn't understand.
The tallest peridot pulled out some kind silver box placing it on the table. They hovered over the box, but didn't open it.
Another higher pitch voice shot through the hanger. Out from the main entrance came a taller gem with a monica and blue suit. Her whole body in fact was light blue.
"That's a Zircon. They speak English, for they're required to learn all forms of speech, but Peridot's on the other hand have a choice" Pearl whispered for some reason
"Bring it here, Pearl!" Shouted the Zircon while walking to the Peridot's.
Pearl guided Daniel not by force anymore to Zircon. They talked shortly in their own language before Pearl walked to the entrance leaving him alone.
He stared up to Zircon, who didn't even bother doing the same. The metal ceiling above started to part revealing a giant window. The ship wasn't moving at all. Outside smaller ships and other weird looking triangle vessels were moving about.
Some going to a distant planet made of solid white light. Didn't look nature like at all. Daniel had a hard time getting a look at it from the white shining off it, as if a sun.
"Better. Now, keep a watch on it, Pearl" She slowly but surely walked back to him. He calmed a tad taking in every bit of information, which wasn't much.
"What now?" Daniel whispered "Ha?" Pearl said looking to him real fast
"We wait. Their arrival should be in a few Parstanders at least" Declared Zircon standing proud, also was giving him a smirk. Daniel blew them all off starting to think this was all a dream, or maybe something worse.
"With this time, we should prepare. Peridot, release the Amethyst!" Zircon started to chuckle while pointing a finger off to nothing in the distance
Everyone stared at her with a weird face, even Daniel. He understood every word for some reason she was speaking in English.
"Zircon! Do we realllly have to do this?!" Exclaimed the tall one in a high pitch voice, Daniel found it quite cute and couldn't help but smile.
"The candidate PASSED the Rose Quartz test. PASSED the the Diamond to Human test!"
"I'm quite aware of that YOU CLOD, but a Pearl did it! How do we know for sure?" Peridot yelled back in a rude tone while resting her hands on her hips.
"Yellow Diamond HERSELF confirmed the test, you idiot. We have nothing to worry about" The peridot was eye balling Daniel the entire time as she talked to Zircon, often going in and out of English.
"SO, release the Amethyst!" Yelled Zircon again. Peridot rolled her eyes turning to the table in the middle of the hanger. She opened it revealing a medium size cushion shaped purple gem.
Peridot placed the gem on the bare silver table waiting for something. Daniel found this all quite strange and didn't understand a word any of them were saying.
Suddenly the gem floating up into the air with a bright light. A person started to take shape in the ball of light. First their legs that formed the body, then all the way to the head.
A short gem crashed to the table below. Peridot yelled something at her he didn't understand. She had short white hair and a one piece suit that was solid purple, like her gem.
This gem clearly was forced against her will here. She seemed more scared than Daniel himself. They looked understanding each other's situation and felt for one another.
"Prime! What a prime gem, Peridot! Where did you find her!?" Cried Zircon doing circles around her looking for any imperfection, but none was found.
"She was created moments ago. Fresh Gem is needed for this test" Peridot mumbled, didn't seem like she was such a fan of this idea. This Amethyst didn't dare talked and kept her distant from anyone, even though she was sitting on the table surrounded.
"She has fused before, correct?" Peridot nodded also looking for any flaws. They both took this quite serious, as if their life was riding on this.
The sounds of heavy footstep's echoed down the hallway behind them. Peridot pressed something on the Amethyst's clothes before she reverted back into gem state instantly.
What came in was different that he was expecting. Yellow was there, but also another Diamond. She was talking to this Blue one in a soft, calm tone now, something about another Diamond's demise and about shards. They stopped talking before reaching the entrance.
This Blue Diamond was tall like yellow, but well, blue. Wore a long dress that covered her feet, like a hood. Had soft white hair and sad eyes on her face, as if she was about to cry at all times. Deeply troubled by something.
They were followed by the same Sapphire and her ruby team, but was joined by football players of gems that looked like the Amethyst. They're were four of them following behind Blue.
"Look at this, Blue...This will change the face of war" Boomed Yellow with a hearty smile at him, Daniel tried his best to hide behind Yellow Pearl, but it was of little use.
"Yellow...Take it easy, we have yet to do a basic fusion..." Blue Diamond's voice was soft with a slight quiver, Daniel found it quite calming actually. There was another gem he didn't' see, a Pearl. This one was blue and was wearing a tutu around her waist with a blue shirt. Reminded him of Blue Diamond by the way she kept herself.
"This is the right thing to do..." Whispered Yellow, for some reason she was in a calm mood right now.
"I-I don't know...Is this what Pink would want? T-To be stuck in a human body?"
"PINK is GONE, BLUE. This is just using what's left in her gem!" That calm tone was gone on a whim. Blue Diamond closed her eyes letting Yellow vent before speaking again
"Don't grow angry at me. I just want what is best for her..." Yellow looked down to Daniel, who didn't understand a word of this conversation.
"I know...She's never coming back and we HAVE to act, Blue. Her Gem is sitting here, waiting to be used again. The shards were collected thousands of years ago, then it was up to her, not it's up to us"
Blue nodded and hug her head low starting to cry a little. Yellow darted to everyone in the room before landing to the tall Peridot
"You, Identify yourself. Seemed to be the leader here" She froze slowly turning around to them
"My DI-AMonD! I'm Peridot, Facet-2F5l, Cut-5XG" Yellow rolled her eyes half way through her little spout of words.
"You...Zircon, what are we testing first?" Whispered Blue
"Fusion. That is what Yellow requested, my Diamond" She didn't ask anymore questioned and waiting for Yellow to say something
"Very well, lets get started"
