Chapter 1:

I said good bye to my parents and got onto the school train, looking for somewhere to sit. This Ravenclaw I didn't know very well asked me to sit with her but I said no. Then I heard a familiar voice in the corridor behind me.

"Hi Star, how are you?" It was Draco. He had Crabbe and Goyle behind him like usual and he was smiling at me. "Found anywhere to sit yet?"

"No," I sighed. "You haven't seen Harry or Hermione have you, I promised them I'd sit with them."

He looked a bit hurt. He's my best friend still but I've been getting closer and closer to Harry and Hermione and I suppose he feels left out a bit. Crabbe and Goyle aren't the best company in the world.

"Hey Star," said a voice from behind me. I turned and there were Harry and Hermione. My heart started beating fast when I saw Harry he had grown over the summer and got this sexy new haircut and stuff. He looked really good. Hermione looked as good as ever – she has really pretty dark blonde curly hair that I'm really jealous of!

"I'll be going now," said Draco a little sourly, turning away but I caught his hand.

"Why don't we all sit together?" I said with a smile. It was high time that Harry and Draco started being friends. Draco looked unsure but nodded.

"Sure, that's cool," Hermione said, winking knowingly at me. "Look, there's a spare compartment here."

We all went into it, except Crabbe and Goyle who wouldn't fit so had to go somewhere else. We started talking about Harry's summer, it had been pretty bad as usual. He has these really mean relatives that are really mean to him.

"I heard about you getting attacked by dementors," I said sympathetically.

"You got attacked!" Draco said horrified.

"Yeah, me and my cousin," Harry said uncomfortably.

"Hey guys, we're nearly there," said Hermione, always the observant one. We got off the train and went up to this carriage, and Harry started staring at these horse things at the front of the carriage.

"Don't worry, I can see them too," this crazy-looking girl said. "You're just as sane as I am."

"They're Thestrals Harry," I said as we got on the carriage. "You can only see them if you've seen someone die. " He was still looking at them weirdly as we moved off.
