Author's Note:

Hello guys, it's me StormersEdge, I finished school for the year, and next year will be my final year of high-school. I have a bit more free-time than I originally anticpated, so I'm writing once more. With that being said, let's continue with the story!

The Legend of Zelda, Skyward Swords: Chapter 2

Link's P.O.V.

As I left my bedroom, I walked down the stairs, to see my friend struggling to lift a barrel for the lunch lady. I offered to help him, and carried it into the room for her. Setting it down, I waved to them both with a smile, and continued on my way. On my way outside, I ran into Professor Horwell. He requested for my assistance in retrieving Mia, the headmasters' remlit. He also mentioned that she gets rather vicious at Night time, and is left outside at night due to that. After retrieving Mia, I continued to Zelda. I walked up the staircase leading to the Goddess Statue, and half way up I could hear her. Her beautiful voice, the sound of an instrument unfamiliar to me. I approached her, she spun around, very obviously expecting me. "Oh Link, you're awake. Today's the day of the Wing Ceremony, the most important day of the year for us academy students. I hope you're ready to win today, because I picked this outfit out for you." She did a cute spin, showing me her outfit in it's full display. "Isn't it cute? I made it myself. After all, I'm supposed to look my best today, I'm representing the Goddess for the chosen Knight. Speaking of the Goddess, did you hear me practicing? I have this new instrument, it's called the Goddess Harp!" I looked at it in awe, I've never seen an instrument shine so brightly, how gold it looked. I heard a voice behind me, and Zelda and I turned to face it. "I see you're up Link, good to hear. I do hope you're ready to perform today in the Wing Ceremony." said the Headmaster. "He will be, after he fully wakes up and practices, whenever he is out on his bird, he's just lazily gliding around, not a care on his mind. How can I expect him to win today, if he doesn't practice?!" She grabbed my arm, and dragged me towards the edge of the diving dock. "You're gonna go and practice now, right Link?" she said chippery as always. I thought for a moment, where was my bird. The people of skyloft have an almost psychic bond with their Loftwings. Yet here I was, unable to sense mine. "Zelda, I can't sense him out there, I'm worried." I said. "Yeah yeah, trying to get out of practicing are we? Sureeee... OFF YOU GO!" she said as she shoved me off. My life flashed before my eyes, I knew he wasn't going to come when I whistled. Zelda soon realized this, I saw a look of panic in her eyes, as she dived off after me. To her came her purple loftwing, and she swooped down and grasped me within the purple talons. They brought me back up. The strain put on the Loftwing injured it's left wing. The Headmaster suggested that I talk to Professor Orwell about delaying the ceremony. Zelda suggested that he should just talk to him, since he would just come to him about it anyways. He agreed and left, after Zelda had tended to her bird a bit. She joined me in my search. She searched on the other side of the Watch tower, and I walked by Groose, I could hear him mentioning something about my loftwing, so I approached. He commented on how the bird wasn't around right now, and how I probably won't be in the Wing Ceremony today. He then started crap talking me in regards to how Zelda and I are so close. That's when she came out from behind the tower. The look of anger in her eyes would cause me to faint had I been the origin. She came out, slipped herself inbetween me and Groose. She put her pointer finger right in his face. "Just what do you mean by that?" "You must know something about the Loftwing". Groose's face went red, a comparable shade to that of my loftwing. "Uh... Just forget about it. I don't know anything." He and his crew dived off the edge, calling their loftwings and flying away. We continued our search and eventually found the loftwing on an underlayer of Skyloft. Zelda heard something strange, a voice coming from below the clouds. I worry about her sometimes, perhaps she's growing ill. We each ride our respective loftwings as Zelda refreshes me on some of the advanced aerial techniques that may help me win. We heard a bell, signalling the start of the Wing Ceremony. The headmasters and professors did their usual introductions for the ceremony that occur yearly. And we were off. I won, of course, but that's not to say that it was easy, Groose and his goonies were cheating the whole time, by throwing things at me. After I won, I met Zelda on top of the statue. "I'm so proud of you Link." She said with a smile that melted my heart. She began the goddesses' ritual, by placing a bird statuette that I had won in the ceremony in a slot at the top of the Goddess statue. She then began a prayer. "Oh Goddess Hylia, give me your blessing as I act in your stead in this ceremony of knighthood." She then sang a song, I believe it was called the Ballad of the Goddess. She handed me a Sailcloth, that she had made herself. In a matter most would consider inappropriate, she got right into my face, and with a Wink, I thought she was going to kiss me. Instead, I found myself falling off the Goddess statue. I thought to myself 'Man, she loves to throw me off of stuff doesn't she." I pulled out the Sailcloth, and used it to land in the center of the landing point. Zelda dived off after me, without a sailcloth, I caught her and she knocked me over, and I hit my head lightly against the thing, I rubbed my head and laughed. As we were sharing our laughter, Zelda looked to me. Almost nervously, she asked me "Say... Link, would you be interested in going on a ride on our loftwings together? Like we used to when we were kids?" I nodded. When we were on the loftwing, she began to talk to me about the surface. "Have you ever wondered what was below the clouds? Father tells me of the legends in the scriptures, but I'm never sure. Most people say it's nothing below them, but I can't help but wonder. The land I read about in the scriptures, The Surface, is it real?" As I pondered that question, a loud explosion occurred next to us. Zelda was sucked off the Loftwing, and was beginning to be swallowed by the Tornado. I rushed towards her on my loftwing, but was pushed back. I am not giving up that easily. I used a technique that I had not yet been approved to use in regular means. The Spin dash, meant to allow birds to soar through difficult winds with ease. I almost fell off, but I managed to reach Zelda, and we perservered through the Wind back up to a landing pad. Mysteriously enough, the Tornado began to fade, I could see the black winds fade. Zelda, my Loftwing, and I passed out on the grass, safe, but exhausted. We woke up in my room, Zelda next to me in my bed, with the headmaster watching over us. We explained the situation, and he said that he was glad we were safe, but he needed to look more into the scriptures to see if anything had mentioned this. I thought everything was going to return to normal. Then I heard a voice, a robotic voice. Zelda heard it too, and we walked out into the hallway to investigate. There a ghastly blue figure, floating a few feet off the ground stood, she began to move backwards, almost beckoning us to come with her. She led us outside, to the Goddess statue, although we had to go a different route than usual due to the gate being closed at night. "Link, where is this figure taking us?" Zelda asked. "I have no idea". I replied. Just then, a door opened on the goddess statue, a door that we had not thought was a door. It faded away in a blue light, and in the room the spirit flew. We followed cautiously. Inside, the Spirit hovered over a sword.
