Chapter two
Jeb's POV
I walked in to the office. Dr. Martinez was standing there. She was holding a notebook.
"Hello jeb." She said.
"Hello Dr. Martinez, are those the results?" I asked, Curiously looking over her shoulder at the notebook.
"Yes, she is progressing fast. She seems not to be a failure. The other doctors are saying that they are bringing another bird child."
"I have to do another experiment. Can you get her and put her on the operating table in room 223?"
"Jeb, I'm leaving."
"What are you talking about?"
"I can't do this I don't think anyone should be treated this way, especially my daughter. I would take her with me but she wouldn't be safe and I would be caught."
"Valencia think this through" I pleaded. I really was evil doing this to my daughter. I kept saying to myself if she does it I can.
"I'm not hurting my child! I have stayed for six weeks. I have seen her in that awful cage. If I don't leave I will have to take her." She turned to go.
"She's just an experiment Valencia." I tried one more time.
"Jeb, you're a shmuck if you really believe that." She walked out of the room slamming the door behind her. I had just lost the only person who kept me from becoming insane.
Three weeks passed and I did my job and went on with my life. I was very unhappy. I walked around the school and never smiled except for the small smiles I gave my daughter. She never smiled anymore. She cried all the time and she didn't look good. Everything changed when she saw the little olive-skinned bird boy for the first time.
It was a dull day, she was getting a rare day of rest. Just as she was waking up from her nap they brought him in. He was put in the cage next to her. They had both been crying but then they turned and saw each other for the first time. They stopped crying and identical smiles lit there faces. They reached through bars and tried to get tiny fingers to touch they tried so hard I could see the strain on my daughter's small face. There was noone around so I unlocked there cages. They both crawled out and went towards each other. Then the cutest thing happened the grabbed hands and hugged each other. For the first time an experiment looked happy. I heard people coming. I put both of them back in there cages. A doctor named Bob Amiba came and took the little boy's cage. As they carried the cage away my daughter started to cry and the boy's face was no longer in a huge smile. I knew that my daughter had a friend. I now knew I would not only be rescuing my daughter.
