Link: Guess who's back?

Zant: Back again.

Midna: Sono's back!

Sonofdin: ... it was pathetic to even try this with you guys. It's been awhile since I've posted the last chapter. So... sorry guys. I've decided to alter the plot slightly so that Midna hasn't revealed her secret yet, just in case anyone's wondering. I'm going to try switching the POV every once in awhile. If I haven't stated this before, I usually use parenthesis to distinguish thoughts from narration and dialogue. Anyways... Let's get on to the chapter. Naga, disclaimer.

Naga: He owns nothing but me, the plot, and anything else Nintendo hasn't claimed... yet.

SonofDin: Just for that, you're first. And yes, I call Poison Mites scarabs, just for the sake of the story.

Chapter 2

Scarabs, Twili and sand, oh my!

[Naga's POV]

It's been six minutes since I've agreed to help these two... and Link still hasn't gotten any further than the entrance. I sigh, and look over to Midna. "Are you sure he's the real hero of time?"

She laughed quietly at my comment before replying. "Yes, that's him."

I stood there for the longest moment, silent, before falling to my knees. "Dear Farore, we're all screwed!"

Link glared at us, having crossed the hazard while we were talking. "I'm not deaf, you know." He looked at me for a moment, then smirked. "So, smartass, how are you going to get across? I doubt you're hiding a clawshot in that stylish outfit." Link laughed, quite pleased with himself.

I yawned, then looked at the quicksand, a few moldorms burrowing through it. After a moment of staring at sand, I started to scan the wall for any sort of foothold, and my eyes rested on a protruding brick. I leaped forward, kicking off the wall to reach the first platform. "Says the man in a skirt and tights."

Once again, Midna's laugh could easily be heard in the quiet room. She then shook her head at the two, then floated across the gap. "You don't know how many times I've said that same thing."

Link just kept going, annoyed with both of us. He spoke quietly to himself. "Great... another freaking Midna. Next thing you know, there'll be another Zant, too."

I looked over to Midna as we all continued, the two of us lagging behind, then decided to try starting a conversation. "I hope we'll be out of here by nightfall, it'd be a shame to waist the only beauty the dessert holds." (What the hell am I thinking? Next I'll be chatting to a Zora about the water!)

"You're hilarious Naga..." She rolled her eyes, assuming I was being sarcastic.

"I'm serious... Twilight's the only time of day when I can actually focus on what's important." I sighed quietly, then decided to shut up.

[Midna's POV]

(He can't be serious... can he? He's probably just another idiot attempting to find any common interest with me. Still... I guess I could go along with it for now.) I nod once, then turn to him. "I suppose you're right... some people just don't think it's all that great." I shrug, then glance to Link. "But hey, it's their loss."

Naga laughed, and I managed to catch a glimpse of his face under his hood. It was... beyond pale. (... he's definitely not a light dweller...) We continued on to a small room with a chest at the end.

"This seems simple enough," Link said as he crossed the quicksand.

I started to follow, but Naga put his arm out to stop me. "I think you should stay back for a moment."

I turned to him, "And why is that?"

He just pointed at Link opening the chest, and when I looked, hundreds of scarabs were moving towards him. "That's why..."

Link screamed at the top of his lungs, and for a moment, I thought it was Zelda here instead. Naga and I shook our heads, and said in unison; "Courage my ass..."

Link did a spin attack after he was done, and only one scarab survived. Naga calmly walked over, and held it in his palm. "How could anyone, especially the courageous hero of time be afraid of that," I asked.

He then stood, putting the little beetle on his shoulder, and laughed as it crawled into his hood, hiding on his neck. "Let's take a vote. Who says we keep him? Raise your hand." He raised his hand, as did I... both my right hand, and my hair.

[Naga's POV]

I rolled my eyes, snickering. "Well then, I guess it's three to one." The little bug crawled out of my hood, and on to my head, trying to stand tall as if it had won the most prestigious prize in the world.

I could have sworn Link shot a glare at me. (Could he know? Shit, he's smarter than I thought...) For the first time since I've joined these two, I couldn't even bring myself to speak. After a long moment, I had an idea. "Link, are you sure you came prepared," I asked, getting ready.

He must have calmed down some, because he started checking through his supplies. "Thanks for bringing that up... I guess."

As he was focusing on his bombs, my shadow started to extend towards his quiver, lazily placed on the ground behind him. It raised slowly once underneath the quiver, emptying it out into the quicksand before returning to its original position. I sighed in relief, realizing Link hadn't noticed.

I heard Midna clear her throat, and I knew I was caught. I turned to face her, and she spoke quietly enough so only I would hear. "I won't tell him... but you owe me an explanation." She smirked, knowing she had me beat.

"Fine," I said in the same hushed tone. "Once we're out of here."

Link finally turned to us, nodding once to me. "I doubt I'll find too many arrows in here... Next stop, Malo Mart."

-Kakariko Village-

We stood there at the edge of the village, and then I realized something. "Midna... won't you have to hide for us to go in?

She just shook her head, and looked over to me. "I'll stay behind this time." She then gave me a rather demanding look, as if to say; "So are you."

I took the hint, and faked a yawn. "Yeah, I guess resting for a moment wouldn't kill me either."

I sat down on a rock, and she floated in front of me. "That was... interesting... what you did back there."

Since she'd already seen my "trick", I decided to hold nothing back... or rather... hold less back. "Alright. I at least owe you this much..." I lowered my hood, my white hair being the first thing revealed, followed by my pale-ish skin. Familiar luminescent markings show on my shoulder and over my right eye, which had an unusual yellow sclera, and red iris.

She floated there for a long moment, before speaking. "How? I thought... only Zant and I were here."

I shook my head before putting my hood back up. "Zant should learn to look behind himself... he's lucky no one else slipped through."

Midna shook her head, then sighed. "He's lost his head... again."

(... she's not like what I was told. She's actually... tolerable.) "Well, it could always be worse. Especially for you."

At this, she let out a small laugh. "True... I could be stuck with him, and look like you."

I clapped slowly, laughing quietly. "Congratulations, you write that one yourself?"

She shook her head once again, smiling slightly. "Glad to know someone appreciates my sense of humor."

I just laid down on the rock, looking up at the sky. (Finally... someone who doesn't hate me. Who knew my first friend... would be the princess?)

Oh shit, Naga knows! Will Link ever get back from arrow shopping? Will our heroes ever continue the journey? Will I ever shut the hell up? Stay tuned to find out. Reviews much appreciated.
