2. Bury yourself in work

It's been a quiet day at work and that's pretty much the opposite of what you wanted. Last week, it would have been a welcome change, an opportunity to take Erin out to lunch and a chance to flirt for far too long while making coffees for both of you.

The closest you came to flirting today, however, was when Platt narrowed her eyes at you when you took a breather downstairs.

"Things okay?"

"Not really."

"Probably your fault."

That had been a helpful conversation…

Now you sit at your desk, trying to pretend you have documents to shuffle and reports to write. When you caught yourself sketching the line of Erin's leg an hour ago, you excused yourself and went to the men's room. You're not even any good at drawing and so at least no one realized what or rather who is stubbornly refusing to vacate your mind. That's what they (whoever they are) would call a silver lining, you guess. The paper is in your drawer now. With the necklace you'd planned on giving Erin a few days earlier. Maybe your mom would like it.

"Hey, Halstead?"

You look up and Voight's looking at you, and you think you spot sympathy in his expression. Permission would have been preferable. "Boss," you acknowledge. "What's up?"

"You're coming with me. Just got a call."
