As everyone drove back to headquarters, Peter and Ray were indeed acting like typical kids.
"Quit looking at me! snapped Peter, Ray was looking at me!"
"I did not," said Ray.
"Did to!"
"Did not!"
"Did to!"
"Did not!"
"Settle down the both of you," said Egon.
"Yes Captain Egghead," said Peter with a laugh.
Even Ray began to giggle and said,"Egon's an egghead."
"And no name calling it's not nice," said Winston as he drove the car.
"Captain Bossypants," Peter whispered to Ray, as the two of them giggled.
"What did Winston just say?" asked Egon.
"It's not nice to call people names, sighed Peter, before muddering, Partypoopers."
"Peter said a dirty word," said Ray.
"Tatal-tail."
"I'm not a tatle-tail."
The bickering once again countinued.
Egon and Winston sighed knowing it was going to be a long drive.
Luckily the carrying on of Peter and Ray ended shortly pulling Ectro-1 into the firehouse.
After parking the car, Winston and Egon got out.
"Hey fellas, Jeanie the receptionist called out, How did the job go?"
"Don't ask," Egon answered.
"Where are Peter and Ray?"
"You're about to find out," Winston replied.
The two grown-up Ghostbusters went to the back seat, unbuckled the child Ghostbusters, who then got out of the back seat.
"Aww, how cute, said Jeanie, We have a few fans here who look just like Peter and Ray.
They should see this.
It's adorable."
"Jeanie, this is Peter and Ray," said Egon.
Jeanie got up from her desk to take a better look at the kids.
She couldn't believe her eyes when she saw that it was indeed Peter and Ray.
"It is them, said Jeanie, What happened to them?"
"Scary clown ghost," said Ray.
"A stupid ghost, said Peter, But enough of that.
You seeing anyone?"
Jeanie just simply rolled her eyes at the comment, then asked "How old are you?"
"5 and a half, well almost " Peter replied with pride in his voice.
"Almost this many," said Ray, holding up all 5 fingers on his right hand.
"This ghost that looked like a clown transformed them into kids somehow," said Winston.
Just then Slimer appeared and spotted the kids.
He floated down to greeted them.
"Hello," said Slimer, with his big goofy grin.
"Hi," said Ray, with a shy smile.
"Yuck, get this blob away from me," said Peter.
Slimer then realized who the kids really were.
"Ray, Peter, is that you?" he asked.
"Uh uh," Ray answered.
"Who did you expect, Inspector Gadget?" Peter replied
"It's you alright."
"Ray and Peter got turned into kids by a ghost, Slimer," Winston explained.
"Though we're not sure how," Egon added.
Ray suddenly began dancing around a bit.
"I gotta go," he said.
"Me to," said Peter, who was kind of crossing his legs.
"I'll take them," said Winston, as he took Ray and Peter upstairs to use the bathroom.
Meanwhile downstairs, Jeanie turned to Egon and said,"Looks like we're going to have kids here for awhile."
"Looks that way," Egon added.
"I'm going to run out for a bit and get a few things that we need for the firehouse to keep it safe as well as some clothes that will fit Peter and Ray.
Maybe a few toys as well."
"Make sure they're educational."
Jeanie then ran out to run the errands, while Egon headed to his lab to research the ghost the guys had encountered earlier and try to figure out how to transform Peter and Ray back into adults.
A short time later, Egon was skimming through the pages of Tobin's Spirit Guide as well as looking up items on the computer in his lab, when Winston entered.
Egon looked up from what he was reading and asked,"Where are Ray and Peter?"
"In the living room, I gave them each a book to read," Winston replied.
"Big Mistake."
"Why?"
"What kind of book is this, there are no pictures," Peter called out.
"Yeah, no pictures," added Slimer, who joined the younger Ghostbusters.
"And I can't read this," Ray added.
"See what I mean," said Egon.
"Let's find them something else to do then," Winston added.
"We're bored," said Peter as Winston and Egon entered the living room.
"Yeah, bored," Slimer added.
"Can we watch some cartoons?
Please," asked Ray.
"Yeah, cartoons," Slimer added.
"Cartoons are for babies, said Peter, I wanna watch that where the cowboys shot off their guns that go "pow" pow" "pow".
"How about a science show?
There's a fasniating program coming on about alge," Egon suggested.
"Boring!" Peter,Ray and Slimer said at the same time.
"How bout Doopey Dawg?" asked Winston.
Ray clapped his hands and said,"Yeah Doopey Dawg, Doopey Dawg!"
Peter slightly pouted and said,"Fine.
But only because Ricky Roach is funny."
Winston turned the TV on, and luckily it was the start of the program.
Peter, Ray, and Slimer watched in amazement, while Egon and Winston returned to the lab to focus on what they were looking for.
Their thoughts of consintartion was soon inturupted by the sound of Ray,Peter, and Slimer's laughter from watching the cartoons.
Egon poked his head out of the lab and said," As much as you three are enjoying your show.
Please keep the laughter down to a miniual."
"Uh," Ray,Peter and Slimer said at the same time.
"I think what Egon is trying to say is, Please keep the noise down," said Winston, who also poked his head out of the lab as well.
"OK," Peter,Ray and Slimer replied.
Slimer and the younger Ghostbusters went back to watching their show, while the grown-up Ghostbusters countinded on with their research.
A short time later, Jeanie returned back to the firehouse.
"Guys, I'm back," she called out.
Both adult and children headed downstairs to meet Jeanie.
Ray, holding on Winston's hand, while Egon had Peter, who climbed onto his back.
She had a few bags containing items for Peter and Ray, which included clothes and pjs, a few toys, games and art supplies.
The junior Ghostbusters couldn't believe their eyes on the items.
"Wow, look at all the cool stuff here," said Peter, as he began grabbing the toys one by one.
"Now Peter, you have to share with Ray," Jeanie pointed out.
"OK," Peter grumbled a bit.
Ray responded by giving Jeanie a hug and said,"Thank you Ms. Jeanie."
"You're very welcome Ray, said Jeanie.
After getting Ray and Peter settled with crayons and paper for coloring, along with cookies and juice for a snack, Jeanie met up with Winston and Egon in the lab.
"Did you have any luck finding what you were looking for?" she asked.
"We did, Winston responded, It took some time, but we found it."
Egon hit a few keys on his computer and a picture of the ghost he and the guys had the encounter with earlier appeared.
"The yuckster, he said, A clownish ghost who was documented in the early 1900's is a spirit of a once aspiring circus performer by the name of Joseph Yates.
Yates who had desires of becoming a professional clown had tried to join the Chuck Miller circus company in the mid 1800's.
He wanted to be known as the world's most funniest clown, so the circus hired him for a show as a try-out."
"He did pie and seltzer in the face bits, jokes, the whole bit.
But Yates was fired after his first show," Winston added.
"He didn't make the audience laugh?" asked Jeanie.
"The kids liked him, not the adults, Egon replied, They found his act to be dull, and they found his yucking sound of laughter annoying."
"Yates then began ranting and insulting the crowd even it was at the adults saying that they don't understand the real meaning of humor and laughter the way children do, this caused everyone in the audience to get upset and leave.
He was fired on the spot," Winston countinued.
"What happened afterwards?" Jeanie asked.
"Yates died in a drowning accident, shortly after the fiasco at the circus, Egon answered, But not before he said, "Laughter is wasteful on the old, only a child can be amused by the gift of humor."
