It wasn't uncommon for him to wake up in uncommon places, that doesn't mean he liked it. The last thing he remembered was…..
He wrenched is eyes tired eyes open, finding himself staring up towards a light, but it was far away, as if he was in some hole looking up at the entrance. Suddenly apulshing pain emerged from the back of his head, ripping through his whole body. He hissed in pain, bringing an injured hand upon the back of his skull to ease himself of the immense pressure. He couldn't hear anything but an immense ringing, it was difficult to breath as well. Slowly but surely, he forced his body into a sitting position, ignoring his body's demand of rest.
The place was strange, it gave of that district earthy musk as if he was underground. It was even stranger when he found himself upon a bed of golden flowers, none of them were damaged at all, as if he never fell upon them….
He brought is hand to his face, observing the warm and sticky substance coating his hand, blood. If he didnt fall then how-
Wait where was Midna?
He swerved his head around looking for his partner, regretting it as it worsened his pulsating head. The blurry memories rushed back to him quickly, but still he had no idea what exactly happened. He prayed to Hylia she was safe.
Getting back on his feet was easier said than done. He almost stumbled back into ground if he had not caught himself upon a wall, a brick wall. His hand roamed the wall for any switches or levers, none. Patting himself down as well, he found nothing missing, even finding himself sporting more wounds than he originally anticipated. That's more worries to add to the list, great. The pain was manageable, it's not exactly uncommon for him to get these kinds of injures, if anything it was rare for him to go for more than a week without having one.
He followed the wall into what seemed like a door, a very large one. With caution, he peered in between out of the opened door, he only found even more golden flowers, or to say one flower-It was staring right at him, giving him a sickly sweet smile, his body screamed at him not to near it.
"Howdy!" It said with a bright animated voice as it took in the hylian. The boy didn't know what to think, sure he has met weider and far more ferocious looking creatures, ones that could swallow houses whole. But this one was….different. It irradiated something he couldn't quite put his finger on. Something dark, empty, and blood hungry.
"I'm FLOWEY. FLOWEY the FLOWER!" It announced, noticing the boy was purposefully maintaining a far distance, for a moment before its face crumpled in confusion.
"Hmmm... This one doesn't exactly look human, even older, aw well close enough…..but it hasn't even been a year since the other human arrived." It mumbled to itself, but Link managed to pick it up with his strong ears. He was thanking Hylia that his hearing came back in time.
"You're new to the UNDERGROUND, aren'tcha?" Trying to coax a response from him, he sealed his mouth shut. The flower still mainited his smile, but it looked strained.
"Golly, you must be so confused. Someone ought to teach you how things work around here! I guess little old me will have to do." Flowey announced loudly. Out of nowhere, a sudden wave of magic hit the hylian, taken back by the immense pulling sensation from his chest, it felt as if his heart was being ripped out of it. And in a way, it was.
A blinding light ripped into existence, showering him and the room in a warm light. A golden heart presented before him, it was beautiful.
"See that heart? That is your SOUL, the very c- that can't be right. Why is it so bright?…..nothing can be that pure and strong, not if you killed so many!" The smile falls suddenly, the hylian snaps his head up narrows his eyes animalistically.
"How can you have a pure golden soul if you killed so many!?" The flower suddenly grew an evil dark look.
"What are you!? You're not HUMAN at all, are YOU!? You're not from the SURFACE!" It said in a scratchy voice as it's face crumpled even more. He had enough of this, drawing Blade of Evil's Bane, he sliced into the magic forcing his-well soul out. The room darkened dramatically without his soul's presence, almost plunging him into darkness if it was not for the one ray of sunshine the flower was basking in, He tightened the hold upon the handle of his blade, falling into a defensive stance.
"OH! So you want to play, huh?! Well theN LETS PL-ACK!"
A flame impacted the nasty plant, knocking it into the shadows of the room. Link would've pounced to finish him off if it wasn't for the new stranger appearing.
"Oh dear not again." A soft voice whispered from the darkness, slowly the figure stepped into view. A sweet, a kind looking goat lady, he felt no dark intentions and only found pure sweetness. Her kind, brown honey eyes full of concern as she walked closer to him, before stopping as she noticed the blade.
"Y-you do not need to be afraid, you're in no danger." She said in a kind yet cautious voice,he could smell her fear from here. She regarded him as if he was a wild animal.
"You-You are injured. Please, let me help." She stepped forward only to stop as a growl escaped his throat at move, frightening the female for a moment. They held eye contact for what seemed like hours, but in reality was only a few seconds. He slowly sheathed his blade, calming the woman down immensely.
"I am Toriel, caretaker of the ruins. I pass through this place everyday to see if anyone has fallen down…..it hasn't been that long since the last one….." Toriel trailed off suddenly, her face crumbling into despair. He studied the goat woman before him, for a moment the pain in the back of his skull flashed back angrily. Stars swam into his vision, dancing around when suddenly he found himself falling. Then the world faded out again, he wondered where he was going to wake up this time.
A soothing hand rubbed his back, his eyes connected to the soft warming brown as the world faded out again.
