It was an unusually sunny day. After being awoken by a dream that he could no longer remember, Aidou rose from his bed and stepped toward his windows. There were traces of sunlight filtering through; it bothered him slightly.

Hanabusa sighed, and mumbles to himself, "Too bright. I should get thicker curtains."

He made his way to the couch, where Aidou then sat himself down and prepared a blood tablet to drink. Wordlessly, he swished his deep red cocktail, as if deep in thought about his hero, Kaname Kuran. He tipped the entire glass' contents into his mouth.

"What are you doing up so early?" Kain's voice broke the bleak silence.

Hanabusa looked over to his cousin's bed. "Can't I just have a drink at night for no reason?"

His worrisome gaze came over Aidou. "You had another dream. The ones you can't remember; the ones that wake you up."

Akatsuki's comment hung in the air.

"Yeah, so?"

His face was kept uninterested; Aidou stayed unmoving in his seat.

"Maybe you should tell dorm master Kura-"

"Akastuki," Hanabusa interjected. "I'm fine. You don't need to worry about my problems. And besides, Kaname-Sama has more things to concern over than me."

He returned Kain's concerned watch with a cold look.

Characteristically, Akatsuki sighed.

"Whatever."

Moments of silence passed, as Aidou made another glass of blood. Suddenly, a pain shot through his body. He coughed on the sip of his drink and doubled over in shock. Memories, memories washing by, he thought. Hanabusa's head filled with swirling images he could not understand, bombarding him with colours and pictures he could not decipher. With a loud thud, he fell to the ground, holding his head and screaming silently for the flow of throbbing to stop.

But through the pain, a single image blew into the crevice of his mind.

A picture of Yuuki Cross.

Then, as suddenly as it came, the pain ceased. Aidou lay awkwardly on the floor, still cradling his head as he kept his eyes closed.

The darkness behind his eyelids had become still, and Hanabusa finally came to the realization of the trigger that stopped his ache.

That, was when Aidou finally discovered that he has a special connection with Yuuki Cross, the girl who would eventually change everything in his life.
