Dedicated to this fic's first reviewer; kawaii dolphin girl. I forgot what choices I gave you or if I ever gave you any, and it was only recently that my sometimes absent-minded mind tells me that what you wanted was this chapter :-/

Through the years after his betrayal, although they are so far away, they are still actually closely connected...they just don't realize it.

Second Year – A Meeting…mutually shared

Somewhere in one of the shinobi countries, a lone bird flew over a vast, seemingly uninhabited forest. The bird was tiring, and wanted to find a nice place to rest its little wings.
Suddenly it spotted a nicely blooming cherry blossom tree. Chirping in relief, it landed on one of its many branches.
It tilted its blue head as it noticed the human resting under the tree. He looked like he was sleeping, his back against the tree's trunk, his eyes closed shut.
Curious, the little bird hopped down from the branch it was perched on and flew to the ground a few feet from the human. Seeing no reaction, it hopped closer.
The human's eyes opened so suddenly it hopped and flew back to its branch, squawking in surprise.
The human's onyx gaze stayed transfixed on it, and it set its unblinking gaze on him in turn.
After a few minutes the ever curious little bird repeated what it did before and was once again a mere few feet from the silent human. The human only continued to stare at it as it hopped closer and closer, until it was only a hand span away.
Then, surprisingly, the human unfolded one of the arms in front of his chest, and outstretched a hand to it.
The little bird hesitantly, continuously, eventually hopped onto it. The human raised its hand slowly until they were almost nose-to-beak.
Then the bird hopped across the human's palm and nuzzled its tiny head against his nose.
And for a moment, just a brief moment, it thought it saw a hint of a smile lifting the ends of the human's previously grimly-set lips.
Chirping triumphantly as if it had just completed a most difficult mission, the little bird flew off, leaving the dark-colored human in its wake.

A certain little blue bird was once again tired and searching for a resting place. And when a lovely pond came into view, it landed near it in relief.
Across the little pond, it noticed a human lying on her back, her lower legs submerged in the water.
As always, curiosity overcame the bird and it flew across the water, landing on the grass near the human. The human seemed to be sleeping, and since it had done such a thing before, the bird boldly landed itself on the human's chest to take a closer look.
It moved closer and closer to the human's face...it wasn't sure why, but there was just something familiar about this particular human...
Said human suddenly opened her emerald eyes, but unlike last time, the little bird remained where it was and only tilted its head a little, chirping.
This human smiled easily at it, so naturally unlike that other one. She greeted it as if she woke to see her sight filled with that of a bird looking down on her every day.
She stroked its wings with her finger gently, and it chirped happily. Then, she started sitting up, and it hopped onto her finger. Lifting the finger close to her face, the little bird chirped as if trying to tell her something.
When they were nose-to-beak, the little bird nuzzled its feathery head against hers, causing her to smile widely.
Ruffling its feathers a few times, it then chirped once and flew off. And only when it was a distance away did it absent-mindedly realize what it was about this human that was so familiar.
This human's hair was the same color as that cherry blossom tree the other human it met had been sitting under...

Not the one I said would be coming out, but yeah --' And not as good as the first one I think, because when I started writing this I didn't write it in the bird's POV unlike the first one that was in the tree's POV. But I hope you guys like it anyway
