Sakura pulled her white coat off once she got inside the elevator.
She was completely absorbed on the medical scroll she was reading that if Ino hadn't come in and banged on her table, she wouldn't notice that the sun was already up. She chuckled at how many times Ino yelled at her to get a life. This is my life, she quipped in her head but realized that it's a sad truth to admit. So she settled for grabbing her bag and taking a walk to get a quick snack before today's meeting with the upper-management.
"How's our little bet going, Sakura?" Tsunade's amber eyes crinkled when she saw Sakura go in the dango shop today. One look-over and she knows she pulled an all-nighter at the hospital – again. She decided to not say anything about it though, instead she teased: "Three years is a long time for a bet if you ask me."
Sakura breathed a defeated sigh as she thought to herself: Three years… that long, huh.
It was around the same time Sakura founded the clinic, that's when she started fully immersing herself into her work and training as everyone's lives were moving on. Right about that time, Naruto and Hinata announced their wedding, Chouji started dating Karui, Ino even admitted a crush on Sai. After the war, it was a wonderful spring for everyone.
"I wonder when my time will come. When I'll be happy like them", she often caught herself thinking when she closes her eyes at night only to be met by a pair of onyx eyes that never seem to be here. Then one night, in desperation, she asked Tsunade to bet against her: "Shishou, please make a bet. Please bet that my feelings won't work out. Because, Shishou, your bets are always off the mark. That's why."
Fortunately she caught herself spacing out before her dango fell out of her hands.
"Shishou," Sakura pulled her mouth into a smile that didn't quite reach her eyes. "I don't think the dice has stopped spinning yet."
