Chapter 2: Where it all began, part 2
Hello, alvinnascar5 here. Here's chapter 2 of The Pup High in the Skye! Enjoy!
The eagle stared at Skye, who was shaking in fear. The scared Cockapoo then took a big breath of air and then let out an ear-piercing scream for help as she tried to run.
"HELP ME, PLEASE! SOMEBODY! HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLP!" screamed Skye as she ran from the eagle, which still had Delta's bloody body in its grip.
(Lookout)
Ryder was playing with Chase, Marshall, and Zuma in the yard, while Rocky took a nap inside his pup-house, when they saw the plane explosion and heard the scream for
help.
"What the-?! Ow!" groaned Rocky as he bumped his head after being woken up suddenly by the scream. "What was that, Ryder sir?" asked Chase. "Sounds like it came from
the canyon! Chase, Rocky, and Marshall, you three follow me. Zuma, go down into the canyon and search the river. Rocky, gather some old cables and make a strong winch
line extension in case we need pull someone up and out of the canyon. Marshall, have your EMT gear standing by to check for injuries. And I need all of you to check the cliff
walls too." said Ryder. "Chase is on the case!" said Chase. "Green means go!" said Rocky. "I'm ready for a ruff-ruff rescue!" said Marshall. "Let's dive in!" said Zuma. "Alright!
PAW Patrol is on a roll!" said Ryder as he and the four pups headed to their vehicles and took off.
(3 minutes later)
Ryder and the pups arrived on the scene, and when they got to the canyon's edge, the group saw Skye being chased by the eagle.
"That eagle's trying to hurt that cute little pup!" said Chase. "What do we do, Wyder?" asked Zuma. "Change of plans. Zuma, stay up here for now. I don't want to take any
chances. Chase, megaphone! Let's see if we can scare that eagle out of here." said Ryder. "Arf! Megaphone!" said Chase. Once the eagle was close enough, Chase barked
repeatedly, not only causing the eagle to drop Delta's body and fly away, but scaring Skye in the process.
"AAAH! OW! OW! OW! MY PAW!" cried Skye after not seeing a sharp rock, which cut her foot. "Net!" said Chase before launching it and catching Delta's body and pulling it
away from the canyon edge. Then, they focused on Skye.
"Rocky, is that line ready?" asked Ryder. "Ready!" said Rocky. "Zuma, take out your buoy line and clip it on to Rocky's line, and then we'll hook the other end of your buoy
line to Chase's winch line." said Ryder. "On it, Wyder!" said Zuma. After attaching the lines together, they put their plan into action.
"Little pup, tie this around your waist and we'll pull you up to safety!" said Ryder through Chase's megaphone. "O-o-okay." said Skye, still a little scared. After she tied the line
around her, she was pulled up.
"Now, nice and slow, Chase." said Ryder. "Winch line, retract!" said Chase. The winch then retracted, bringing the scared Cockapoo up to safety. After Skye took the line off
her, she saw her wounded mother. Marshall got to work right away.
"She's got severe wounds, Ryder. I'll have to do what I can to stop the bleeding." said Marshall as he started trying to clean the wounds.
"Mommy, please stay with me. We're going to get you to a hospital." said Skye. "Skye, stay safe, make me proud, and be a good pup." said Delta weakly.
"Blood pressure is getting weak and faint." said Marshall. "Mommy…" said Skye, starting to tear up.
"Her pulse is weak." said Marshall. "I love you, Skye." said Delta before her eyes closed and her head tilted to the side. Then, Marshall's heart monitor that he had with his
EMT gear, made the flatline tone noise.
"Mommy? Mommy! MOMMY! NO! PLEASE WAKE UP! PLEEEEEEAAAAAASE!" cried Skye. Marshall then sadly shook his head.
"There's nothing more I can do, Ryder. She's dead. Excessive loss of blood. And her stab wounds were too severe." said Marshall as he began cleaning his tools and putting
them away.
"NO! DO SOMETHING! ANYTHING! PLEASE!" shouted Skye. "I'm sorry, little pup. There's nothing I can do. I tried to save her, but I'm sorry. She's gone." said Marshall.
"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" cried Skye as she lied her head on a non-bloody spot near Delta's chest. Skye spent the next few minutes bawling and wailing uncontrollably.
The pups removed their hats as a sign of respect. After Skye gave Delta one final hug and one final kiss on the head, Marshall had to move Skye away from Delta's body for
the burial. Skye then jumped into Ryder's arms and resumed her crying. Ryder held Skye close to him as he and the other pups mourned Delta's death. After burying the
body, Ryder managed to calm Skye down just enough to where she could speak clearly.
"Marshall, her paw is bleeding. Keep it wrapped up until we get back to the Lookout." said Ryder. "You got it, Ryder." said Marshall. "We're sorry for your loss, little pup. Do
you have a name?" asked Ryder as Marshall wrapped up Skye's paw. "Skye." said Skye, still sniffling a bit. "Nice to meet you, Skye. I'm Ryder. And this is Chase, Marshall,
Rocky, and Zuma." said Ryder. "Nice to meet you all too." said Skye. "Where's your home?" asked Ryder. "It just got destroyed and taken over by those eagles. I don't want
to live there anymore." said Skye. "Do you want to come back to the Lookout with us until we can find you a new home?" asked Ryder. "Do you have food and warm milk
there?" asked Skye. "Sure do." said Ryder. "And a comfy bed for me to sleep on?" asked Skye. "Yep." said Zuma. "Yes. And my paw is still bleeding." said Skye. "Don't worry.
We'll take really good care of you." said Marshall. "Let's go home." said Ryder. Marshall let Skye ride up front with him in his ambulance.
"This is just so you can tell me if your paw continues to hurt or if you don't feel well or something like that." said Marshall. "Thank you." said Skye sadly. The Cockapoo then
looked in the rearview mirror as Marshall drove back to the Lookout.
"Goodbye, mommy. I love you." said Skye, letting some tears flow from her eyes until the gravesite was out of sight.
"Marshall, take Skye over to Katie so you two can help take care of Skye's injury." said Ryder. "You got it, Ryder." said Marshall. "Who's Katie?" asked Skye. "She's the one
who gives us baths and helps take care of us if we're sick or hurt. She's really nice. We'll take really good care of you and we're going to help you through this tough time."
said Marshall as he pulled up to Katie's shop. "Thank you." said Skye as she hugged Marshall.
"It's going to be okay. I promise." said Marshall as he helped Skye out of the ambulance and onto his stretcher he had in the back of the ambulance. "I've never been to the
vet before. I'm kind of scared." said Skye as she and Marshall approached the door. "Don't worry. I'll be with you the entire time. Ryder gave me the task of taking care of
you, remember?" said Marshall. "Don't worry. Everything's going to be fine, trust me." said Marshall as he and Skye went inside.
"Hi Katie!" said Marshall. "Marshall! What a pleasant surprise! And who's this little cutie you have with you?" asked Katie as she tickled Skye's chin. "Katie, meet Skye. Skye,
meet our friend, Katie." said Marshall. "Hi." said Skye in a bit of a shy voice. "What happened to your paw?" asked Katie. "I was being chased by an eagle after it killed my
mommy, and I cut my paw on a sharp rock." said Skye, crying a bit. "Oh my. I'm so sorry about your mommy. Don't worry. I'll have your paw fixed up soon. Marshall, bring
her to my exam room so we can take a look at her paw and give her a physical." said Katie. "See? She's friendly. Your road to recovery has begun." said Marshall as he took
Skye into Katie's exam room.
R.I.P. Delta, Jet, and Finn. And Skye's road to recovery has begun. Next chapter will be up soon. Read and review, please.
