The Awakened
A Beautiful Day
The air was cool and the wind still with nothing but the soft chirps of birds to be heard in the distance. Goku sat amongst the lush green grass in meditation, his eyes gently closed and his mind and body relaxed. It had been a glorious day in which he and his eldest went fishing for the first time in over 7 years. Goku was so very proud of his son, and how far he had come since Cell. He was grown up now and was starting a family of his own.
He smiled at the thought of the new arrival; Goten. Only seven years old but so strong and boy was he a handsome young boy. Though nervous when meeting him for the first time, Goten pretty much loved his father from the moment they met and this made Goku smile wider.
"What are you smiling at?" a woman's voice questioned gently. Goku opened his eyes and turned his body to see his beautiful wife, basket in hand, un-pegging the now dry washing from the line.
"I was just thinking...it's been a beautiful day" Goku spoke gently as he rose from the ground and walked over to her.
"Yes, it has been beautiful. The sun has been shining and I haven't seen Gohan so happy in a long time" Chichi spoke happily as Goku approached her.
"Yeah, it's so good to see him again, well, to see all of you!" he murmured into her neck as he wrapped his arms around her tiny but strong waist. Chichi chuckled and let her half full basket drop to the grassy ground. She turned in his grasp so she could face him and she embraced him quite snugly.
"I'm so happy you're home, Goku. It's hasn't been the same without you" Goku rested his head on hers and sighed.
"I know honey, I'm glad I'm home too" he replied, continuing to hold her.
Everything was perfect right now as far as the Son family were concerned. They were all together again, like old times and at last they were at peace – no threats, no fighting, just quality family time.
It was just too perfect.
Chichi laid the last of the plates with mountains of food upon the large wooden table in their kitchen. The four warriors who sat around the table began to feast, well, three of them more than the four. Piccolo sat and ate a small plate of food with etiquette whilst the three hungry Saiyans began devouring the delicious food Chichi had cooked for them.
Chichi sat and prepared a small plate for herself with a huge smile across her face. She was so happy her family were back together. She looked over at Piccolo and decided he too was part of this family and sighed happily before eating her food.
"OMG Chichi, this food is delicious!" Goku complimented, mid chewing, food spluttering out of his mouth.
Chichi frowned, "Goku! Don't talk with your mouth full!" she scolded.
"Sorry" he returned, his mouth still full of food, a grin appearing on his face after he swallowed it down. Chichi couldn't help but give him a sneaky little smile, ensuring her children didn't see it.
Goten and Gohan helped their mother to clear the table whilst Goku and Piccolo sat back in their chairs and relaxed. Goku sighed and patted his full stomach.
"Well I am stuffed! Thanks again Chichi!" he complimented with better manners this time.
"Yeah, uh, thank you" Piccolo added in.
"So Piccolo, how are you enjoying the family life?" Goku questioned. Goku hadn't been back more than a couple of months and heard that Piccolo had been pretty much inseparable from the family since his death 7 years ago. Piccolo lifted an eye brow.
"It's noisy" he commented before getting up and making his way towards the front door. Goku chuckled and got himself up, following Piccolo to the door. Goku followed the Namek outside and called for him to stop. Piccolo turned slightly to look at him.
"I want to thank you" Goku began, "For watching over my family when I wasn't here. I know Gohan really needed you and I know that deep down Chichi appreciated it" he finished. Piccolo nodded in understanding and appreciation and then took off into the evening sky. Goku smiled as he watched his now friend fly off into the distance. It's incredible how far they'd come, once enemies, now friends.
Goku re-entered his home and decided to help his little family with cleaning up after their meal. He wasn't one for doing chores, but he had missed his family life so much and just wanted to be with them.
It was bedtime for his youngest so Goku grabbed him and slung him over his shoulder like a fish and took him to his bedroom. Goten giggled the whole way there, trying to fight his dad and escape his grasp, to no avail. Goku plopped his little boy down onto his bed and let him pull back the covers and crawl underneath them. Goku sat on the edge of his bed and ruffled the boy's dark crazy hair.
"Daddy?" the little boy called.
"Yes son?" Goku responded gently.
"Daddy, can we go fishing tomorrow? You, me and Gohan?" he asked in excitement. Goku chuckled.
"I don't see why not son" he replied before tucking the small boy in, "but you need to get some sleep!" he finished before giving him a wink. Goten nodded and closed his eyes straight away making Goku giggle a little.
"Goodnight son" Goku told his son as he was leaving his room.
"Goodnight daddy" little Goten replied, beaming at his father. Goku then closed his door.
Goku made his way down the hall and come to his eldest son's room. He knocked the door and then entered his room. Gohan was on top of his bed, led reading a book.
"I've come to say goodnight" Goku informed him
"Okay dad, goodnight" he replied with a smile. Goku winked and then left his son at peace with his book. Goku entered the room he shared with his wife, yawning as he did, pulling off his white Gi top and placing it over the wooden chair by the bed. Chichi came out of their en-suite bathroom, clad in a knee-length nightgown, her hair down and flowing over her shoulders and down her back. It was so long now Goku thought, and so beautiful. Chichi got into bed whilst Goku undressed down to his boxer shorts. He jumped in bed with her a few moments later and stretched out, his right arm stretching out towards her, motioning for her to cuddle up to his chest. Chichi didn't hesitate to accept the offer and immediately snuggled up to her big strong husband.
Goku yawned once more snuggled in more to his wife.
"Someone is sleepy" Chichi commented, looking up at her tired husband. Goku gave her a small smile.
"It's been a long day" he reminded her, "I was up very early to go fishing with Gohan. Goten said he wants to go tomorrow as well" Goku mentally reminded himself.
"He is so excited to do things with you" Chichi informed her husband, "Gohan told him stories of all the things you used to do with him – camping, fishing, hunting for dinosaurs. He wants to do all these things with you too"
"And we will" Goku assured her, "I look forward to it"
They both lay in silence then, just enjoying each other's company and each other's bodies, their eyes closed. Chichi drew circles over her husband's muscular chest whilst he did the same to her right arm. Sleep claimed them a short while later, gentle snores filling the room.
What a beautiful day it had been.
The birds were singing as dawn approached. Goku woke up to the sound of the birds chirping in their garden. He turned over to snuggle into his wife, his one arm draping over her form. Goku kept his eyes closed for a bit longer, his nose nuzzling into his wife's neck, his hand drawing circles on her stomach. He began to kiss her neck gently which caused her to stir.
"Goku" she gently murmured, quite enjoying him disturbing her sleep. Goku's fingers continued to draw circles on her stomach, then moved his way up to her chest where he began to gently massage her one breast. Chichi's eyes shot open and she turned to look at him.
"Son Goku, what are you up to?" she questioned, but instead of answering her with words he kissed her on her lips and she giggled slightly, her nose then wrinkling up, "Goku! Morning breath" she complained, so instead he began kissing her all over her face causing her to giggle even more, "Goku, stop it!" she continued to complain, but found it hard to stop laughing at his childish antics.
Goku stopped kissing her and decided to cuddle her instead, his face buried in her chest, his spikey hair almost poking her in the face. Chichi chuckled and began to play with his crazy dark hair as he cuddled her. She had missed these moments with him.
It wasn't long after when there was a gentle knock at the door.
"Come in" Chichi called, and in came little Goten. He come bounding in and jumped into bed with his parents, squeezing himself in between Goku and Chichi.
"Morning mommy, morning daddy!" he exclaimed as he cuddled in as well. Chichi laughed at him, so like his father. Chichi could see the playful frown on her husband's face now that he had to share her with Goten and she rolled her eyes and pulled herself away from the two Saiyans.
"Come on you two" she ordered, "get yourselves washed up and dressed and I will start breakfast" she informed them as she walked into the bathroom. Goku let out a huge yawn and stretched out across the bed.
"5 more minutes" he called to her, grabbing Goten and cuddling him, causing Goten to giggle insanely. Chichi got herself washed and dressed and walked back into the bedroom, only to find Goku and Goten playing around on the bed, tickling each other and throwing pillows.
"Boys, come on, get yourselves sorted" she scolded gently, picking up a pillow and throwing it right at her husband's face. Goten laughed at his dad as Chichi left the room.
"Mom got you right in the face!" he pointed out, the look of shock on Goku's face more than evident. Goku suddenly smirked at his son and grabbed the pillow and hit him around the head, causing Goten to lose his balance and fall off the bed. Now It was Goku's turn to laugh.
"Hey, that was a cheap shot daddy!" Goten moaned upon the floor. Goku merely grinned at his little son. "Fine!", Goten shouted, "I'm gonna beat you getting washed and dressed and I'm gonna eat ALLLL the food!" he excitingly shouted and ran out of the room.
"Not if I get there first!" Goku challenged back and shot out of bed.
Chichi could hear their antics from the kitchen and she laughed to herself. Her boys were seriously something else. She pulled out some pans and glanced out of the window.
Today was going to be another beautiful day.
