Chapter 2

(Stevie Rae P.O.V.)

I screamed, the pain was excruciating as stark shoved the dagger into Rephaim's throat. I could feel the pain through our bond, and as quick as it had come it went away.

I opened my eyes; it looked like I was on a marshmallow that never ended. Then I realized that I was on a cloud.

Wait; was I in vampire heaven? Was I dead? I didn't want to be there again, it was bad enough the first time.

I heard something, at first it sounded like an annoying bee in my ear. Once I put my ear on the cloud I could hear a voice. Finally I could hear the voice saying "oh, Stevie Rae why, why?" wait, I knew that voice from somewhere…it was zoey!

"I have to do it," she said.

"No you can't, it might destroy you," said Kalona

I don't care, I have to try," she said stubbornly

A few moments later the 'marshmallow' ground opened up beneath me, I fell and fell until all I could see was blackness.

I gave a few shallow pulps of air before coughing up as much blood as I had the last time I died.

My eyes fluttered open and I saw zoey crouched over me like she was about to give me mouth-to-mouth C.P.R.

I know you love me zo, but in case you haven't noticed you are engaged and I have a boyfriend. Wait where is Rephaim anyway?"

Then reality hit me at 100 miles/Hr, the dagger, stark, and me feeling Rephaim's soul float away.

"Please don't tell me that he's…he's dead," I pleaded to zoey.

I could tell by the way she looked at me that was true.

I dissolved into tears; I just couldn't believe that he was gone.

"I want to see him," I managed to choke out between sobs.

After zoey mumbled a reply I couldn't hear she helped me get up and we walked about 20 yards away to wear Rephaim lay. I crouched over him and started saying a prayer that I heard zoey say when one of the fledglings died a couple weeks ago.

When I said " I hope thy reaches the goddess' presence". There was a near blinding light as Rephaim was lifted off the ground.

Then, the light turned black as it started to spin faster and faster until he has dropped slowly on the ground.
