Last time on Among The Stars

"I'm so sorry Dax..." Felicia whispers as she turns off the light and leaves the room.

Timeskip - 8 Years

Dax—through his memories being edited by Felicia—has grown into a normal and upbeat ten year-old boy with shaggy golden brown hair and his fascinating starry night-coloured eyes, the white speckles contrasting with the dark blue of the rest of his iris. The boy's body is adorned in a light gray jumpsuit with six holes in the back—meant to ease the access of the power amplifiers—adorned with dark gray rubber rings. Dax still has no clue of the torture he endures on a daily basis due to Felicia's Memory Magic.

The golden brown-haired boys face lights up as his mother figure walks in—Looking no older than 34—with her signature fake smile on, meaning it's time for another experiment.

"Hey Felicia" Dax smiles brightly, gazing up at the woman who has done so much for his well being.

"Hello Dax, follow me" She smiles back with equal brightness. The golden brown-haired boy getting up and following his guardian.

The two walk through the cold and expansive corridor and into the test room which—unknown to the boy himself—has caused him so much agony and grief.

"Get into the chamber please" Felicia requests. Dax happily obliges to this, heading into the chamber as the restraints grab him.

"Ah!" He exclaims.

"Amplifying power output by 100%" A scientist says monotonously, pushing a switch forward.

"Activating power boosters" Another drones, pressing a large red button.

"Releasing magic transfer cords" A third says flatly, pulling a switch which releases the long cords with needle-like attachments on the end.

"Standby" Felicia says loudly as the machines whir and buzz.

"Initiating Magic Enhancing Experiment No. 10,000" Zaltus grins as he slams his closed fist onto a yellow and black button.

The chambers doors slam shut, the mechanical restraints tightening as Dax attempts to struggle. The transfer cords snake up behind him, stabbing violently into his back through the holes in his suit, causing his eyes to begin to water. The golden brown-haired boy cries out in sheer agony, screaming bloody murder as his body is wracked with pain—caused by the rapid overflow of magic power—. He vomits blood, the scarlet liquid splashing onto the door of the chamber.

Felicia shakes and stares as the boy—who she raised herself—violently shaking with a mouth painted with his own blood. As the hours slip through their fingers like sand, Dax endures as the excess magical energy is forced into his being. After what seems like an eternity—though only six hours chronologically—,Dax's eyes fall shut, much to Felicia's horror. Her spirits are somewhat lifted when the boy snaps his eyes open again, though they're startlingly different. Rather than this night sky-colour that has always been held within his orbs, Dax's eyes have turned a brilliant golden colour, shining like stars. He screams in rage and agony, golden lines crawling across his form, a circle of the Zodiac symbols forming around his neck..

"T-That's!" One of the scientists gasps.

"The Astronomer's Link..." Zaltus smirks "The ultimate power of a Stellar Mage, allowing them to access the power of their magic's sister magic, Celestial Spirit Magic" The silver-haired man crosses his arms.

The whole room is stricken with fear as a large golden magic circle with a dragon spinning inside of it appears in front of Dax. With a scream of anger from the golden brown-haired mage, a giant white dragon—who's scales fit together like metal plates—emerges from the circle, tearing through the chamber door and nearly dwarfing the room it now stands in.

"This cannot be!" Dr. Zaltus exclaims as he checks the monitors and dials "No! You fools! You overloaded his magic power! No mage of his age or ability should be able to summon Ptolemys!" The head scientist screams at his subordinates.

"Dax...no..." Felicia whispers, a single tear rolling down her cheek.

Ptolemys roars in rage, swinging his tail round, smashing nearby consoles and freeing Dax from the restraints and transfer cords. Dropping down, the golden brown-haired ten-year-old stands frozen in shock and horror as the white dragon trashes the lab, throwing the scientists into the walls casually. Seeing Felicia collide with the wall in a loud cacophony of cracking, smashing and wailing.

"Feli!" The ten-year-old Dax cries, attempting to move towards his mother figure.

"NO DAX! Stay back!" She wails "Hide!"

Dax slips into a vent knocked open by Ptolemys, sliding the ajar grill closed as he watched from behind it. The large white dragon bellows in rage as he continues to rampage within the lab, absentmindedly tearing holes in the building as well. Parting the jaws of his hulking maw once again, the dragon—possessing a near infinite well of magic—begins to charge a large orb of white and gold energy which swirls like a whirlpool. Ptolemys releases the charged ball of energy from between his jaws, enveloping the room in a brilliant light and blinding all within range.

When the light fades; the room is no more. Corpses of the scientists are haplessly strewn across the crater with the exception of Dr. Zaltus and Felicia. Being closest to the chamber—thereby the closest to the dragon— they were obliterated first. No corpses left in their wake. Dax crawls out of the vent and into the destroyed lab, gripping his head in pain as the Memory Magic wears off.

"W-What's going on?!" The golden brown-haired boy cries, his unedited memories flowing into his mind.

The images flashing in front of his eyes, the torture, the pain...and the woman whom he loved like a mother. Felicia witnessed it all and did nothing to protect him. He grits his teeth and clenches his fists; but then he remembers. She edited his memory to save him from the pain of knowing what was happening to him. Dax begins to weep for the woman who loved him so much, wrapping his arms around himself as he sulks.

'No!' He mentally snaps 'I have to be strong for Feli! It's what she would have wanted!' The golden brown-haired boy says as he stands up, dusting himself off and making his way to the gargantuan hole in the wall left by Ptolemys.

Dax looks out across the city from the hill where the facility stands, watching as Ptolemys trashes the city.

"STOP!" Dax cries, the fading yet lingering image of his birth parents forming within his mind.

As a sort of response to Dax's plea, Ptolemys looses an explosion of white energy, enveloping the entire town within its range. The golden brown-haired boy's Zodiac symbols begin to glow brightly as Dax cries out in anger, firing a pair of long golden chains from his shoulders. The chains whip outwards, extending towards the dragon—who is still rampaging—and binding the dragon, causing it to writhe and struggle.

"GO BACK WHERE YOU CAME FROM!" Dax shouts at it as the chains produce a giant magic circle which the chains drag Ptolemys into.

Dax then passes out from the stress on his body, falling into a deep sleep. So quiet, so lonely. Oh how he hates being lonely. Dax Sterling, the boy abandoned at a few months old, is once again alone...
