Hey guys, I had made a chapter yesterday and I already have like four reviews and comments so that's great lol I'm always worried about whether a new story will get the popularity it should or not. But this story might not have a problem with that. :D But tell anybody who would like this about it and I'll be happy. Anyway, please review or comment the story! I honestly support anyone who does it for every chapter! Alright guys, she's about to join the team. Here's the chapter and I hope you enjoy it!
Ch. 2
"Young Justice Team?"
I asked; bewildered at what Batman was asking me. He nodded in response and stood in front of me.
"Scarlett, the Young Justice team is a pre-mature team of superheroes that will eventually become part of the Justice League. In the team, you would work together with other heroes your age and complete missions that you usually would if you were like us. Don't ask us how, but we have researched your special abilities as well as your past and we believe that you would make a nice fit as a member."
He said to me. I stared at the ground and then looked at him again.
"So...you know about my past? Everything about it?"
I asked with a slightly shaky voice. He nodded sadly but kept his serious expression.
"Yes, but we can help you with your hapnophobia. You won't have to worry about anybody mistreating you on the team; we all treat each other with respect."
He stated proudly. I had to admit, my fear of trusting someone or being touched was really annoying but I couldn't help it. Doctors creeped me out so I never went to one to try to cure it. And...it would be kind of cool if I got help from famous super heroes. I put one hand on my hip and leaned on my right leg.
"What would do on these missions? I don't really know how to fight..."
"We will have Black Canary, I'm sure you know who that is, train you with hand-to-hand combat and she will help you with your light powers. You won't have any trouble fighting when she gets done with you. Missions can range from gaining information on a person to fighting off the 'Joker' in the middle of the city. But remember, you would have your teammates there to protect you. In return, you must protect them."
Batman's way of explaining things was excellent, if not perfect. He didn't act like I had to do anything, he just gave me the details while also giving me the risks for my own good. I sighed but smiled when he finished.
"Where would I stay if I joined the team? I don't think I could stay in this apartment and fight along the team at the same time."
He said with a raised eyebrow. He nodded and I think I saw a smile spread across his features.
"That's right; you're smart for considering that Scarlett. You would be staying at Mount Justice with a couple of other members. You would live in the finest room we can provide for your comfort. We will also make sure your caretaker, Sylvia, knows of your where-a-bouts."
I laughed and rolled my eyes.
"Please don't tell me you're going to tell her about my powers and that I joined a team of super heroes."
He chuckled as well and shook his head. I mentally patted myself on the back for making 'The Batman' chuckle. He shook his head at me.
"No that would be illogical. We would simply come up with something more...appropriate. so what do you say? Will you join the team? We would be pleased to have you. Oh, and did I mention that we would put you in school while you're there?"
My head perked up and my eyes sparkled. I never went to a real school before but I did go to the library everyday to read and learn as much as I could. I'm so lucky that Sylvia bought me this apartment...Maybe I can repay her back by not living here. Then she wouldn't have to pay for it anymore. I gave the tall suited-man a nod and smiled.
"Okay! I'll join! Just as long as you promise to help me...And that the members on my team don't touch me at first..."
I said softly. He smirked and turned to the window.
"Well alright then. Your things are already packed so let's go to Mount Justice."
I gave him a soft glare at the mention of my stuff already being packed. Oh well, he probably knew I was going to say yes from the start; fucking genius...He opened the door to the outside and closed the door behind him. He then clicked something on his belt and a solid black jet soon hovered over us. All I could say was 'wow' before he grabbed me by the waist and shot us up and into the jet. For some reason, I didn't get scared when he touched me. I guess I already trust him; damn he was good!
"Alright, we are in Atlanta as of right now. We should reach Mount Justice in about an hour; which is near Happy Harbor, Rhode Island. So just sit back and enjoy the ride Scarlett."
He said to me as he started the jet up in the northern direction. I stared out the window in awe as the ground moved faster than I could blink; plus the fact that it would only take one hour to get to Mount Justice. I had never been in a plane before. Partly for the fact that a plane was crowded but another being that I just never got the chance to. The land underneath us changed considerably with every state we passed. It felt like each state took about ten minutes to travel through.
"I hope you don't mind me asking but how the hell are we going so fast?"
I asked him in astonishment. He grunted in reply.
"Let's just say I have a guy for everything and this certain guy made this jet. He's an expert in air mechanics and figured out a way to make the jet perform the speed it is right now. To tell the truth, this isn't even the highest speed limit at which this jet can go. But I figured you wanted to feel like you were going through the scenic route."
I laughed at his 'sweetness' and made an 'aww' sound at him. He just rolled his eyes and continued to drive. It was literally like five minutes later when I saw the giant mountain in sight. Was my room inside? That would be so cool! We landed right in front of it and Batman helped me out of the mountain.
"The others are on a mission right now so you can meet them later."
He said as we both walked up to a big entrance. A scanner came in front of both of us and it 'beeped' when it saw me.
"Recognize Scarlett, B100. We will use that for now and can change it later if you want."
He said as he tilted his head at me. I simply shrugged at him, because frankly, I didn't care. This was just too cool. We both walked into the giant cave after the automatic voice recognized the two of us. The inside of Mount Justice was huge but modernized. There was a giant room with a platform in the middle of it; I'm assuming that was for training. The second big room was the living room; it had a long couch with a flat screen in front of it. It looked like a man cave...Get it? Man cave? Cause were in a...you know what, fuck you! The next room was the kitchen complete with a nicely done counter and cooking station.
"Wow, there's like everything in here!"
I said in astonishment. He shrugged.
"Well not everything. We have a Grotto, a hangar, kitchen, library, rooms, locker rooms, a lounge, a medical bay, the mission room, the showers, a souvenir room, a waterfall room, and a workout room."
"Wow, and I'll be living here for now on?"
I asked the man in front of me. He nodded and led me into a hall.
"Your room will be next to Miss Martian's so you can ask her for something if you need it."
He told me as he opened the door to my bedroom. The room was big enough to where I could dance or exercise freely without hitting anything. The bed was queen-sized and the sheets were a bright color of black and red. The walls matched the bed perfectly and it gave the room a darker feel. But it looked badass to me so I didn't mind. He walked in and showed me my bathroom; which was completed with a jetted-bathtub and walk-in shower. I mentally jumped in excitement at the grand quality of everything that was here.
"So you like your room?"
"It's so great! Thank you so much for bringing me here."
He smiled and nodded. We walked out into the living room to see a young blond woman looking at me with a soft smile. She put her hand out for me and I began to get nervous.
"Hi, I'm Black Canary. You must be Scarlett."
She said. I stared at her hand and smiled up at her; hoping that she would get the message. She gasped and put her hand down.
"Oh I'm sorry, I forgot. Well it's nice to see that you've accepted our offer to join the team. I hope it everything looks all in place for you in here? Is there anything here that you think we're missing?"
I waved my hands in front of my face and shook my head.
"Oh no, everything looks perfect Ma'am!"
I said out of nervousness. She laughed at my behavior and put her hand on her hips.
"You can call me Canary. I think I've got it from here."
She said as she turned to Batman. He nodded and walked out of the cave without a word. Canary looked at me again and gestured her hand towards the couch. I obeyed and sat on it while she sat next to me.
"So, while we are here, let's get to know each other. I will be helping you with your training and will act as a counselor for you. So tell me about yourself."
She said with a sweet smile. I brought my hands together and blushed in shyness.
"I don't know; there's nothing really interesting about me..."
"Well I hear you like books..."
She replied with a smirk. My face lit up and I looked at her with a smile. Books were the only thing that really made me happy. Movies did as well but books just described it better. I nodded my head 'yes' and played with my long blond pony tail.
"I really do. I've read thousands of books. My favorite book right now is The Hunger Games series by Suzanne Collins."
"Hunger Games, huh? I read the book and thought it was one of the best I've ever read. What do you think about the movie with Jennifer Lawrence that's coming out?"
She asked me in her womanly voice. I 'fangirled' inside and waved my gloved-hands in the air.
"Ohmygosh, I'm going to love her in it. She's the perfect Katniss Everdeen!"
That's basically how the next to hours went. We would talk about books we had both read and then movies we saw. Then, to my surprise, we actually talked about girly stuff. I never talked to anyone liked this; mainly because I didn't have any friends. I sighed after laughing so much and smiled at the ground.
"Thank you..."
I said to her quietly. She tilted her head confusion.
"For what?"
"For being my friend and talking to me."
I said with a smile. She gave a face that showed heartbreak and held out her hand once more. I didn't have any trouble taking it but I was shaking from my nerves activating in my body. She patted our hands with her other hand and stood up.
"I'm glad you like me."
She said jokingly. I giggled as well and shook my head.
"Well I'm not very trusting at first but once I get warmed up to you, then it gets better. But it amazes me that you and Batman managed to convince me to trust you so quickly and easily. For other people, it's taken weeks."
I said to her. She smirked and went over to the kitchen to pour us some water.
"Well, all it takes it to talk about something you like and then it goes from there. I am a therapist so I've had to do this kind of thing before. Water, Scarlett?"
I nodded and took a glass of the water. I poured it down my throat and slightly shivered from the extreme coolness of it.
"Now, I would like to talk about your special abilities. They're very interesting to me. I, myself, can control my voice at different frequencies to loud or quiet. So if I had to, I could break all of the windows in the average skyscraper with just one scream. Can you tell me a little bit about yours?"
She said proudly. My eyes went big at the magnitude of her powers. In bed, I bet you she's a screamer! Haha, but seriously, I wouldn't want to be in front of her when she screamed. It probably hurts like hell!
"I don't know if I could do that but I honestly don't really know the limit to my powers. I've only used it once for real; the other times being from curiosity. I do know that I can form the light into almost any weapon. And all I have to do is snap my fingers and the weapon will go away. That's all I know."
Standing up, she thought for a moment before taking me to the platform in the training room. I stood there, not knowing what to do until she told me something.
"I want to see your abilities in action. I'm going to put a dummy right here and I want you to hit it. You can throw your weapon at it if you would like. So I'm just going to step back and let you do your thing. Start when you're ready."
She said loudly as she stepped back; just like she said she would. A dummy was lowered in front of me and I knew I had to start soon. I took a deep breath before forming some light in my right hand. I decided on a hammer and it appeared just as I thought of it. I spun around once before throwing the hammer at the dummy. It struck its head and flew back off the platform.
"Wow! Amazing! It seems your strength is also above average for your age. Now do that snapping thing you told me about."
I nodded and snapped my covered-fingers. The hammer on the dummy disappeared and Canary made a face of confusion. She knelt down next to the dummy and felt over its head.
"What's wrong?"
She looked at me.
"Nothing...it's just...there's no damage in its head. There was when you threw the hammer but when you snapped your fingers it disappeared."
Then she made a joyful face of discovery.
"...maybe that's one of your abilities! You can hit someone with one of your weapons of light and then snap your fingers so they won't die or be wounded. However, they will feel the same pain they would if the wound was there; they just wouldn't die."
She explained. I blinked in confusion because this was the first time I was hearing anything like this.
"Is that even possible for a wound to just disappear like that?"
She looked to excited to answer in a calm voice.
"I don't know, it's just a theory, but I will do more research on it. Scarlett, you're amazing! We can focus on your light abilities later and put attention in your skills in hand-to-hand combat. Do you have any?"
She asked me as she walked up to me. I was about to answer but I heard a robotic voice behind me. I jumped and squealed as I turned around in surprise.
"Haha, no need to be afraid Scarlett. This is Red Tornado."
Canary said to me. I hid behind her and peeked at the red robot known as 'Red Tornado.' He was tall and he didn't seem to have any human qualities besides talking. It...He...whatever, tilted its head at me and stepped forward.
"Was it something I said?"
It asked as it tried to look at me. Canary brought her arms out and pushed him away.
"Whoa, hold on there big guy. This is Scarlett and she's nice but she doesn't feel comfortable around people she doesn't know so don't get touchy-touchy with her."
She told him. He tilted his head again and then looked at me.
"Why? I have no conflict in interacting with people that I do not have connections with."
Canary looked at me and rolled her eyes.
"He's still trying to get the whole 'human feelings' thing down. Don't get too annoyed by him."
I simply laughed and nodded.
"It's okay. So what did you want to tell us?"
I said to him. He paused and started speaking.
"I came to tell you two that the Young Justice Team is done with their mission and they will be here in a couple of minutes. Batman said that he would like you to introduce Scarlett to the team in a 'safe' way. That is everything I was commanded to say."
Uh-oh. They were here! My God, I'm so nervous! What if they don't like me!? What if they think I'm a bitch!? What if they think I'm ugly or something!? Or maybe they might think I'm too weak to be on their team!
"Scarlett!"
I looked up to realize that Canary was holding my shoulders.
"You okay? You were shaking for a second there and not responding..."
I took a deep breath and shook my head.
"Sorry, I was stuck in thought for a minute. I'm good now."
I quietly said to her. She stared at me for a second in worry but shrugged it off when I smiled at her. We all turned to the corner of the other room when we heard people coming in. Canary told me to wait there while she talked to whoever it was. I quietly made my way to the corner and listened to what they were saying.
"Geez, will you shut up about being 'whelmed?'"
A boy said to one of the other guys. The guy he was talking to laughed at him.
"What!? It's my favorite word!"
I heard Canary tell them to be quiet so she could talk and I couldn't help but giggle.
"Now guys and girl, you all will be getting a new addition to the team..."
I could hear a couple of them start asking questions but she told them to be quiet again.
"It's a girl this time and her name is Scarlett."
I heard two guys hive-five and I rolled my eyes.
"Now guys, personal space is one of the most important things to her. So I don't want any of you to shake her hand or try to sling your arm over her shoulder; that means you Kid Flash! Wait for her to warm up to you first."
I was relieved that she told them that and laughed when I heard the guy, Kid Flash, pout at her mention of him. I heard Canary's footsteps come back to me and I jumped back to where Red Tornado was. He just looked like he was in a daze so I don't think he noticed me. She gave me a comforting smile and I slowly walked over to her. She leaned to my ear and whispered,
'It's okay, I'll be right next to you.'
We both walked to where the others were and I got a good look at what members would be on the same team as me. The first guy was a little shorter than me and probably younger than me. He had solid black hair and by the design of his costume, this was 'Robin.' The boy next to him had bright red hair that went well with his yellow and red costume. He also had these red goggles that looked pretty sweet to me. The two other boys were taller and older than the rest of them. One looked exactly like Superman but younger, and the other had dark skin and gills...Gills!? Luckily, there was one girl on the team. She had green skin and long reddish-orange hair. She looked nice so I don't think she's a bitch; or at least I hope not.
"Guys, this is Scarlett."
Canary said with a smile. They all gave me a grin and I felt the heat rise to my cheeks in shyness. The red headed boy grinned widely at me and pointed at himself.
"I'm Kid Flash! Nice to meet you!"
He said loudly. I blushed even harder and nodded.
"N-nice to meet you too..."
I said. His face went to a blank expression from my shyness and I mentally kicked myself for it. Robin stepped forward and smiled.
"I'm Robin, but you probably already knew that. Haha, that guy over there is Superboy; he's sort of like Superman's son but not really. And that's Aqualad over there."
I giggled at the tone of his voice and he stuck his tongue out at Kid Flash. Superboy looked away from me in shyness, just like me, and Aqualad stood up.
"It's nice to have a new friend join the team."
I smiled softly when he said friend; it made me feel good, okay! The only girl in the group brought her hands together and jumped up in the air.
"I'm so glad I won't be the only girl on the team now! You don't even know how excited I am. We could do stuff that normal girls do together!"
She was lost in her own world at what we would do together and everyone kind of just stared at her. I thought it was funny and sweet at the same time because it sounded like I would be her first 'girlfriend.' Canary smirked and gave me a 'I think they like you' look. I smiled and looked down at the ground.
"Well...I'll just leave you all to chat..."
Canary said as she left the room. I felt myself whimper while she was leaving but I didn't want to seem mean. I looked at the others and couldn't bear to look at them in the face. Kid Flash stepped forward and made sure Canary was out of the room.
"Well not that she's out of the room, let me tell you my real name. I'm Wally; Wally West. I'm sure a pretty girl like you will keep my name a secret right?"
He said with a flirting smile. My eyes went wide because nobody had ever flirted with me before. I didn't think I was pretty enough to flirt with. And of course, I acted like an idiot when he said that. I laughed nervously and shook my head.
"Of course not..."
Wally grinned at me and the others started introducing themselves for real.
"My teamates call me Kaldur. Superboy's name is Conner and..."
"And my name's Megan!"
She suddenly blurted out. She was shaking was anxiety. Wally made a glaring face at Robin and rolled his eyes.
"But of course Mr. Batman's 'right hand man' is required to keep his identity a secret."
Robin ignored him and ran to the couch, jumping over it and starting up the Playstation that was there. I blinked at his randomness and then looked back at the group. Wally smiled at me and backed up to the couch.
"Excuse me while I kick his ass for not being social."
He said as he jumped over the couch and they started punching each other. Kaldur sighed and slumped his shoulders.
"I'll go separate them..."
He did as he said and then there were two left; Megan arguing with herself and Conner looking away from me with his arms crossed. She may be weird, but at least Megan wasn't boring I guess. She continued to mentally argue with herself until she smelled something in the kitchen.
"Ah! My cookies! Not again! Shit! Shit! Shit!"
She screamed as she flew in the kitchen. I giggled and Conner looked at me. I couldn't tell if he liked me or not by the blank expression on his face. I stepped closer to him and blushed because I didn't know what to say.
"Hey..."
He said quietly. I looked at him and then away again.
"Hey..."
"I-I like your hair..."
My eyes sparkled and I felt my blond hair with my hands.
"Thank you..."
I said with red cheeks and a smile. I felt like I needed to compliment him back.
"I-I like your eyes."
I said as I finally looked at them. They brightened a nice light blue and he gave me a soft smile.
"That's cool..."
It was small but it was progress! I guess I won't have to worry about making friends on the team now. They all seem like really nice people. They're all definitely fucking crazy but normal's boring. I just hope my fear of trust won't ruin something special we may have together...
And that is the end of the chapter! Another long chapter huh!? Yeah well I really didn't mean for it to be this long but I'm sure you guys don't mind.
