A/N: Zuko apologizes to Mai. Mai/Zuko. prompt: rain

Disclaimer: I do not own AtLA.

Zuko didn't care as the hard pellets of water fell upon his head and obscured his vision. He had to see her. He had to apologize for his actions yesterday. He hadn't meant those things he said. He had just acted on impulse and anger, and he didn't even realize until she didn't show up for their date today that he had possibly ruined everything.

He pounded on her door, uncaring if her parents had a problem with how the crown prince was acting. He had finally seen the error of his ways and he had to make amends.

The door was drawn away and there she stood. She took in his soaked clothes and the water dripping from his hair onto her front porch. He was looking at her with sorrow and regret in his eyes, and she knew he was completely sorry.

"Mai, I was a fool. I said some horrible things to you which I had no right to. I can understand if you never want to talk to me again, I can understand if you hate me, I-"

She reached out and held a finger to his lips. Then she said with a soft smile, "I don't hate you."

He smiled back and said, "I don't hate you either."

She stepped out of the warmth of her home and into his embrace, placing a kiss on his lips, paying no mind to the wetness of his body or the raindrops falling on both their heads.
