Inspired by Shadowgirl416's drawing "Leaking", which can be found on DeviantArt (linking doesn't work for me). I highly recommend you go and check it out, she's got some awesome DS-art over there! Cheers!
Dr. Drakken, while somewhat overly "passionate", had never been known to be an emotional guy. Not that he ever wanted to, of course, being a ruthless conquer and all, but that was beside the point.
Point being; he just couldn't stand seeing her like this anymore!
Partially out of concern and partially out of pure annoyance, Drakken's eyes were once again jerked in his sidekick's direction. Seated on the floor beneath the window, there she was, arms wrapped around herself and head leaned to the side as she stared off blindly into the sunset. Why she had been like that for the last couple of hours, Drakken had no idea, but as much as he hated to admit it, it was really starting to bother him.
No lip, no nag, not even as little as a sarcastic remark when his latest invention literally blew up in his face. This wasn't the Shego he was used to working with and he didn't like it one bit.
Again, he had no idea what the problem was, so even if he wanted to help her, he wouldn't know how to do it. Then again, Shego never did seem to like it when people tried to meddle in her business, so maybe it would just be better not to ask. Continuously telling himself this, Drakken tried to set his mind on the half-finished gizmo resting before him. Unfortunately, it wasn't for long until she was there again, probing his thoughts and tugging at his focus.
Finally reaching the end of his patience, Drakken let out a deep sigh and set his tools down on the workbench again. He knew that there was absolutely no way he would be able to work under these circumstances, and asking her to leave wasn't an option either. If his conscience didn't break him, Shego definitively would.
Struggling to find a solution to this dilemma, he quietly began examining his workspace in search for any kind of inspiration. In a stroke of luck, he quickly discovered it; seated on a pedestal not six feet away from him. It was a blue vase, filled with some of the most beautiful flowers the caribbean had to offer. Drakken loosely remembered his mother picking them during her last visit, he just hadn't paid it much attention since she put it up there.
Domestic interior aside, the flowers gave him an idea.
Throughout the years, few things had moved Shego as much as when he gave her presents. Well, maybe gifts was a more fitting word for it. It didn't have to be something big. Even small things like a can of soda or the occasional bonus was enough to receive a genuine thanks, which, mind you, wasn't exactly easy for someone as hot-tempered as Shego. And so, he thought, maybe it was worth a shot...?
With a nervous flutter tickling his stomach, Drakken walked up to the bouquet and picked out the most beautiful flower he could find. It was a pink hibiscus, still strong and beautiful, even after all it's time in the vase. Why he knew the flower by name, again, Drakken had no idea, but he imagined it would look quite nice on Shego, tucked behind her ear like so.
Feeling something soft brush against her ear, Shego turned to see Dr. Drakken standing above her, gleam in his eye and a soft smile on his face. Guiding her vision a bit more to the right, she discovered a pink flower resting in her hair-line, no doubt placed there by her scar-faced employer. Acting on pure impulse, she immediately grabbed the flower in a fiery frenzy, sending the blue villain running in fear. Growling lowly as she watched him leave, she soon turned her attention to the flower again.
Taking some time to inspect it's signed form, recreating it's original structure in her mind, her bitter expression eventually began to soften as she puzzled over his intentions in tucking that flower behind her ear. Was it to mock her? No, she just couldn't see that.
As strange as it might seem, the only logical explanation she could find was that he did it simply to be nice. The thought sounded more like a question in her head, but she still couldn't deny it. Just as she couldn't deny this feeling of, dare she say it, happiness building up inside of her. It wasn't like her to get this excited, especially not over something as simple as a flower. But, then again, it was a pretty beautiful flower.
Feeling her lip unwittingly curving upwards, Shego slowly rose from her seat, tucking the flower back behind her ear as she gazed off after him, her problems as if blown away. She couldn't even recall what she had been so down about. All she knew was that, somehow, she would have to return the favor.
