Guest: Yes I did, and good to hear.
Allen Vth: Yeah, sorry about that. I wasn't completely awake when writing that chapter. Star, Janna and Jackie were wearing the typical dancer clothes, miniskirts, tight tops, you know. Marco was wearing jeans, a t-shirt and a leather jacket. Sorry I forgot to put that small detail in.
Star's Keyblade4114: Probably. Keep reading to see if you're right.
Useful76: Yeah, sorry for the short first chapter, but it was in development.
Enjoy the second chapter.
Marco stood in front of the two-way mirror, his arms crossed and his eyes narrowed, staring at the man sitting at the table in the other room, "Hey nerd," he looked back and saw a woman with orange hair and green eyes walking up behind him, "When are we going to go in there and talk to this slime ball?"
"When his lawyer gets here," the woman groaned an Marco sighed, "Sorry Higgs, but I had to read him his Miranda Rights unless you wanted to see this bastard out on the streets because of a slip like that,"
"And you should've taken me with you. We're partners, you know," Higgs Foley groaned and rolled her eyes, "We could've gotten a confession out of him without reading him his rights,"
Marco gave a small throat laugh and shook his head, "I didn't know a classy lady like you would want to be seen in a place like that," Higgs jabbed her elbow into Marco's side and Marco chuckled, "Totally worth it…but in all seriousness, you know if we get a confession without reading someone their rights, we're going to have to throw it away…unless they talk to us willingly, and these scumbags are all the same. They won't talk to anyone they don't know,"
"And he won't be talking to you two, or anyone else in this facility tonight," they looked back and saw a finely dressed woman approach them, "Chantelle Hackman, I'm representing Mr. Klaus, and this interview is over before it even started,"
"Be that as it may, he has ties with notorious drug dealer Toffee Baxter and-"
"Detective, this interview is over before it even started," Chantelle interrupted Higgs.
"Fine, we don't have to talk to him about Baxter," Higgs looked up at her partner in disbelief, "But I would like to ask what possessed him to throw a beer in my face. And since this has nothing to do with Baxter, I believe we can question him," Chantelle growled under her breath before the three of them entered the room.
The man looked up and smirked at Higgs and Marco, "Hey cop, how come you didn't bring this lovely young thing with you to the club," the man laughed and gestured a kissing motion towards Higgs, "Hey baby, I know how to treat you-" before he could finish, Higgs pinned him down to the table.
"Keep talking, I have a trigger finger that's just inching to get some exercise, punk,"
"Higgs, we don't need to get violent," Marco pulled his partner off the man as Chantelle sat next to him and the two detectives sat across from them, "I just want to know what made you think it was a good idea to throw alcohol at an officer of the law,"
"Michael, be careful on how you answer. It just takes one little-"
"You were about to arrest my boss," Chantelle groaned and Marco smirked, "What? You asked a question I gave you-"
"The answer we were looking for," Higgs laughed and shook her head, "And now you're going to answer our questions. Where does your boss hang out? I mean besides that digesting club?"
"Hey, I don't need to answer to a cop, I'm not a snitch,"
"Of course you're not," Marco leaned back and took a deep breath, "So I'll make you a deal, you tell us where Baxter likes to hang out and I'll talk to the D.A. into giving you a light sentence."
"Hmm, like you can do that," Chantelle scuffed before standing up, "This interview is over,"
The man began to stand up and Marco shook his head, "If you walk out that door, I won't talk to the D.A., and believe me, we will find another reason to bring you in," Michael stopped and looked at the half Latino detective, "Tell us what we want to know, and I'll talk to the D.A. for you,"
"Like I said, you don't have the power to do-"
"Actually Ms. Hackman, I can talk to the D.A.," Marco looked at Chantelle, "You see I used to date his daughter before a mutual break up…I still talk to her and her parents, so I'm more than certain I can get your client a deal," Michael smirked and leaned back on his chair with his arms crossed.
Marco's phone began ringing and he stood up and walked away from the table before answering it, "Listen, my partner might be willing to play good cop, but I'm not so easy," Higgs warned leaning closer, "You tell us what we want to hear, or I promise you we will bring you in on every charge we can get you on,"
"Oh, baby girl has an attitude, I like it," Michael joked and laughed, "Sorry doll, but like I said, I'm no-" before he could finish, Marco slammed his fist on the table, glaring down at Michael with narrowed eyes, "Ah, Detective, finished with your phone-"
"Listen to me, you worthless scum!" the three flinched at the tone in Marco's voice, "Your buddies just attempted to kill one of the girls walking at the club, and now I got a new deal for you! You tell us where to find Baxter and I'll talk to the D.A. for you, or you can sit there and give us the silent treatment and the two of us will walk through that door and you can forget about that deal with the D.A.!"
"What? Someone tried to kill one of the girls? Who? Which girl was-"
"You should be more concerned about the amount of trouble you're in instead of which girl was nearly killed, you son of a bitch!" Michael stared up at Marco with a shocked expression crossing his face.
Marco shook his head and growled, "Fine, have it your way. Let's go Higgs," Higgs stood up and the two of them walked towards the door.
Opening the door, they were about to step out of the room, "A dive bar," the two stopped and looked back with narrowed eyes, "A dive bar named List Ride. He goes there every Friday evening, there until last call." Michael looked up and took a deep breath and shook his head, "You'll talk to the D.A., right?"
Marco sighed and shook his head, "Yeah, I'll talk to him, but you're going to have to finish with my partner and another detective," the door opened and a dark-skinned man stepped into the room, "This is Detective Dolittle, you'll be answering to him and Detective Foley." Marco looked at Higgs and whispered, "I'm going to go check on this near victim and make sure she's alight. I need you to get this bastard to tell us everything he knows about Baxter." Higgs nodded as Marco stepped out of the room and closed the door behind him.
A dark blue Impala pulled up alongside several rescues vehicles and a burning house. The driver's side door opened and Marco stepped out of the vehicle before looking around, "Marco!" he looked back and saw Star standing on the other side of the street.
Marco took a deep breath and walked over to the blonde dancer, "Star! What happened here?" Star frowned and shook her head, "Star, I can't help you if you don't talk to me. Do you know what happened here?"
"My shift ended, my friends Janna and Jackie walked me to my car, just to make sure Tom doesn't do anything after I helped point out Toffee for you. I pulled up and everything seemed normal, but as I opened the door, I heard glass breaking before I was introduced to a wall of fire…I don't know what happened. I backed out of the house and my neighbors came to help me.
After getting me away from the house, they called 9-1-1 and I took that time to call you." Marco sighed and Star shook her head, "I know you don't have any evidence to make an arrest, but I'm sure it was Tom, Toffee or one of his friends. Who else would it be?"
"Star…you're right, there is a serious lack of evidence for me to make an arrest and-"
"You saw Tom glaring down at us, he could've told Toffee who tipped you off and they could've came by here and-"
"And you're making some wild accusations, Star." Star pouted and Marco rubbed the back of his head, "Are you okay? You're not hurt, are you?"
"No…I'm fine,"
Marco took a deep breath and rubbed the back of his neck, "Look…you obviously can't stay here…I mean you who house burnt down," Star groaned and shook her head, "How about I take you to a hotel?"
"And if someone finds me?" Marco sighed and Star cleared her throat, "Thanks for the offer, but someone might find and kill me…and besides, I don't really trust hotels…for a lot of reasons,"
Marco opened his mouth, ready to say something when his phone went off, "Excuse me," Star nodded as Marco answered his phone, "Diaz,"
"Hey nerd," he heard Higgs's nickname for him on the other end, "Me and Dolittle got the man talking. He said Baxter holds underground dog fights every Saturday, and we've got that dive bar, not to mention-"
"That's great Higgs, but did he know about the attack on Miss Butterfly? Someone burned her house down and-"
"The thing is, you brought him before that happened, so chances are he wouldn't have known." Marco groaned and shook his head, "He also gave us the bastard's address,"
"That's great, but without a warrant, we can't parade in there, and I doubt the moron is stupid enough to leave evidence lying around. And it's not like he wears a shirt to say 'Hey, I'm a drug dealer, come and arrest me,'" Marco gave a dry laugh and frowned, "Listen Higgs, I'm not coming back to the station tonight. I'm going to take Butterfly has a place to stay for the night. Let the captain know I'll be in tomorrow,"
"You're setting yourself up for trouble," Higgs inhaled deeply, "Fine, just make sure you're in tomorrow. I don't want to tell the chief you couldn't come in because you spend the night with a girl from the club," before Marco could argue, Higgs ended the call.
Marco put his phone away and looked at Star with a hardened look crossing his face, "Your friends, are they finished…work?"
"Janna is, but she's waiting for Jackie to get done," Marco arched a brow and Star shook her head, "They live together. But I can't drive to their house. Toffee and his goons know my car and if they see it parked in front of Janna's and Jackie's place, they're going to be in trouble and-"
"I'll drive you to their place…where do they live?" Star looked at him in disbelief, "Not now, when your friend is done work. I wouldn't drop you off and have someone see you like that,"
"Well it's going to be a while…Jackie doesn't get done for nearly two hours,"
"That's fine, but we better get you off the streets before this unknown assailant sees you managed to get out of that fire and turns around to finish what he started," Star nodded as Marco led her across the street and helped her into his car.
Heh, got the second chapter out sooner than anticipated. As always enjoy everyone and please let me know what you all think.
