Please hang with me through my short chapters, but hopefully the longer ones will come soon! And, I will let you hate me when this chapter ends. I'm sure you would anyway!

Angela heard nothing for several hours after she and Brennan arrived at the hospital. For the first hour, Angela got treated for her burns and made sure that the others knew about what had happened. And now, she and the team sat waiting in Angela's room for any information on Brennan's condition. Everyone jumped when the knock on the door came.

"Are you all the friends of Temperance Brennan?" the doctor asked when the door opened.

Booth was the first to speak, "Yes. How is she?"

The doctor sighed, "It's not good. She's suffering from fifth-degree burns."

"Whoa," Booth interrupted. "Fifth-degree burns? I never knew there was such thing!"

"Fifth-degree burns are when fat, nerves, veins, and arteries are destroyed. We've had to perform several transfusions and transplants just to be able to keep her alive for this long. We've also had to amputate most of her arms and legs in order to stop the infection from reaching her major organs."

"Oh my god." Angela dropped her head into her hands when the information registered in her mind. "This is all my fault!"

Hodgins turned toward her and tried to comfort her, "It's not your fault! You saved her life, Ange."

"No, I didn't Jack! I didn't save her life. I ruined her life!" She broke free from him and they could only watch as the tears fell from her eyes. "She's always told us over and over that she could take care of herself. If Brennan makes it through this alive, she's going to hate it because then she has to rely on us for her survival."

Booth ran his hands through his hair shakily, "What are her chances of being able to recover fully, to the point where she'll be able to live without needing to rely on us?"

"Slimmer than her chances to live. The fire damaged her eyes as well. She's blind and while she may regain some of her vision, she will never be able to see like she used to again."

The pain and anger on their faces were completely obvious. Booth was about ready to force the squints back into the lab to catch the bastard so he could make him go through the hell Brennan was going to go through when she woke up. Thankfully, he managed to kept his cool.

"Can we see her?" he asked in a voice that made it seem like there was no other choice in the matter than to let him see her.

The doctor nodded his head after a moment's hesitation.
