Lakeside Adventure 2

Bad Parents

A/N: I have redone and remasterd chapter one. We have officially restarted on 7/21/2018. Here we go on this new adventure!

Hitsugaya Toshiro lay unconcious in one of the fourth division's special rooms, a cold cloth on his head with the rare air-conditioner blasting at full force. Gin leaned against the wall next to the bed the boy was in while Rangiku sat in a chair next to the bed. Unohana stood across from them on the other side of the bed.

"It was probably a combination of overworking, the heat and his anger that caused him to faint. You know as well as I, Matsumoto fuku-taicho, that your captain is very susceptible to the heat, and that this is one of the worst heat waves that we've had in the past twenty or so years. I thought you knew better than to leave him alone to during heat waves."

"I know, I just-I was just so excited for this trip. I was so excited for all of us to go on this trip together, I just wanted it to be perfect. I knew that he needed a break, so I thought this trip would be the thing, but he needed a break a lot sooner I guess. How could I have left him alone?!" Rangiku cried, holding one of Toshiro's small hands.

"You were just anxious and enthusiastic to tell him. It's not your fault, Ran." Gin said, placing a hand on her shoulder. The three stayed in silence for a couple minutes.

"I failed before I could even begin." Rangiku quietly said, a few tears landing on the bed.

"Now that's not true, Matsumoto-san. You have been looking out for him for all these years without even knowing who he was to you. You have been an excellent mother without even knowing. Sure, you've made some mistakes, and yes, you will continue to make some. No parent is perfect. Besides, your son is a rather unique and precocious child. He is different than other children, so of course he will be more difficult to handle." Unohana stated, walking around the bed to stand beside the tenth division lieutenant. "You have been one of the best things to happen to him."

"Heh. He is rather precocious, in't he." Rangiku murmured, running a hand through Toshiro's hair.

"We were planning on telling him during the trip sometime. Will he be well enough to go tommorrow?" Gin asked, turning his attention to the fourth division captain.

"His temperature is already a lot cooler so I believe he will be able to tend. Just be carful and keep an eye on him. I will also be attending the trip for a few days so if anything happens, bring him to me." Unohana stated, walking towards the exit. "I wish you luck in getting him to the location." she said before closing the door. Rangiku let out a sigh after the healer left.

"We really are bad parents, Gin." she said sadly.

"Hey, that's not true. You didn't know about him because of Aizen. I'm the one who's been the bad parent."

"You protected him though. You made sure Aizen wouldn't get him."

"And you. I would let him hurt either of you." Gin said firmly, embracing his love. Rangiku let out a chuckle.

"I still remember when you told me. I couldn't believe you."

"More like you wouldn't. But once we got the DNA..." Gin trailed off, nuzzling Rangiku's face.

"I was so mad!" Rangiku laughed.

"Yeah, you beat me pretty bad." Gin chuckled.

"Heh, yeah. Sorry about that."

"No, no. I deserved it. You were upset, and understandably so. You couldn't remember having a child with me and I never told you. You had had your child with you for decades and ddin't know it. Yet you still took excellent care of him." Gin replied. They fell into a silence once again.

"I'm so happy that we solved our problems." Rangiku said, turning her head to look at Gin. He gave her a genuine smile.

"Me too. Me too." he said, giving her a kiss.
