"Hello," Finnick called cautiously, not wanting to upset her.

"Hello," she replied. Her voice was beautiful, like the prettiest sound you could ever hear. Every aspect of her was beautiful, Finnick thought. He was dumbfounded.

"I assume you are hear for a reason instead of just staring at me," she smiled.

"Oh sorry," Finnick said sheepishly. Just admiring your beauty, he thought to myself. She smiled to herself as if enjoying some private inside joke. At that moment her brother came out on the porch and spotted Finnick.

"Oi! You! Go away and stop bothering my sister!" he called.

"Noah, stop, he isn't bothering me," she pacified her brother.

"Sorry, but be careful, I don't trust this guy," Noah said and left.

"Sorry about that, my brother is over protective," she said to him. "So why are you here?"

"I just wanted to introduce myself. I'm Finnick," he stuttered lost in her beauty.

"Nice to meet you, I'm Annie."

"I know," Finnick replied. Damn. Why did he say that?Smooth Finnick, he thought to himself.

"Well that's to be expected. I know they talk about me at school. What do they say?" she asked earnestly.

"Oh nothing really. The guys all think you're beautiful. They say you used to be popular but something happened the summer after eighth grade-" he trailed off.

"An accident," she said. "It was an accident."

"Oh, well, I probably should go," Finnick mumbled awkwardly.

"Yes, you probably should," Annie said dismissing him.

As they parted ways, they both felt funny as if they never wanted to leave each other. They felt dependent on each other. And so began their story.
