Chapter 2
Haha... How long has it been? *checks calendar* ...Oh. Um. Sorry?
*gets tackled by Layla*
Layla: YOU LEFT US ALL ALONE!
CPG: Ahh! I'm sorry- Wait. Get back in the story you twit!
Layla: Fine, but I'm coming back as soon as the chapter's over!
CPG: ...I don't own Tom and Jerry, I do own Layla, AND SOMEONE BETTER HELP ME AT THE END OF THIS.
Layla stood outside the school. It was the end of the day, and she was a bit too excited to get home. First though, she had to wait for her brother to bring up the car.
"Hey Layla!" a voice called. She nervously turned, and saw Jerry running towards her. Layla immediately looked down, she wasn't in the mood to talk to anyone who had been present during her outburst at lunch.
"Sorry about earlier" was the first thing out of Jerry's mouth, making her head snap up.
"I don't know where that whole 'cats and mice being lovers' thing came from, but it wasn't nice of everyone to laugh at you. Sorry. And even though he won't say it, I know Tom is too" she explained, smiling nervously. And wow, were those words a weight off of Layla's shoulders.
"Um... Jerry, do you want to come over? Maybe spend the night, if it's okay with your parents?"
Jerry shook her head.
"I don't live with anyone. Sometimes my uncle and aunt come check on me, but that's it. But yeah, I'd love to stay the night! Will your parents be okay with it?"
Layla paused. If Jerry came over, then that would mean she'd know. From the moment she met her parents, everything would be over. Or, maybe she'd accept it...
"I can call and ask" she finally said, in response to Jerry's question. She whipped out her iPhone, and found her mom's number.
Ring... Ring... Ring...
"Hello?" came her mom's voice. Layla shook off any remaining nervousness.
"Can I have a friend come over and stay the night?"
"Boy or girl? You know your father won't let you bring a boy home"
"It's a girl. Her name is Jerry"
"Okay. What does she want for dinner?"
Layla put her hand over the phone as she turned to Jerry.
"She wants to know what you want for dinner"
"Anything with cheese is fine" Jerry replied with a smile.
"She says anything with cheese. I guess mac and cheese" Layla said back into the phone. She heard her mom walking around, opening a few cupboards.
"Alright. I can do that. She's welcome to come over" her mom finally said. They said goodbye and Layla hung up.
"She says you're welcome to come over" Layla said with a smile. Just then, her brother pulled up. Layla got in the front, while Jerry climbed in the back.
"Who's that?" her brother asked immediately, setting his eyes- or eye, since he was wearing an eyepatch- on Jerry.
"That's Jerry, my friend. She's staying the night" Layla said sternly. Her brother looked at her.
"Really?" he said, as though he couldn't believe it. Layla nodded, and her brother shurgged and started the car.
"Jerry, this is Harvey, my annoying brother" Layla explained. Jerry giggled, before looking at his eyepatch.
"What happened to your eye?" she asked in concern.
"Hmm? Oh, it's nothing. I scratched my eye a couple days ago" he said. Jerry nodded.
...
It didn't take long for them to reach Layla's house. As they got out, Jerry noticed that Harvey's ears were pointed... Almost like...
Cat ears...
Jerry shook it off though, as she followed Layla and Harvey through the door. Soon a woman with brown hair and brown eyes, pointed ears, whiskers, claws and a cat tail walked in.
It didn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that she was a cat.
Jerry shrieked, making Layla jump and Harvey glare at Layla.
"So you didn't tell her?" the cat woman asked. Layla shook her head guiltily.
"T-tell me what?" Jerry sputtered, her eyes wide with confusion and fear.
"Layla, my mom is a cat. My dad is a mouse"
It took approximately three seconds for Jerry to faint.
Layla: I'M BACK!
CPG: AHH! HELP! *gets dragged away by Layla* *in distance* She may be part mouse, but she has CLAWS!
