CHAPTER 2

The next morning our fathers friend came to pick us up. This man was about 6' and had black hair. He had a mustache and he wore glasses. I later found out that his name was Mike.

He walked in the house and greeted us with a warm smile then walked over to our dad and shook his hand. He and our dad went into the other room to talk and left us in the living room.

"I wonder what there talking about?" I asked Brittany quietly

"It better not be about us!" she said in a stern voice.

Brittany and I walked up to the door to hear better. We couldn't hear much but we did hear some of the conversation that our dad and his best friend were having.

"I don't think this is a good idea." I heard our dad say in a whisper.

"Don't worry I will take care of them and they will have a great time." Mike replied.

"But what if they get taken?"

"They wont, besides they don't even what the girls look like." Mike said. Brittany and I both looked at each other with a confused look on our faces.

Brittany and I bolted to the couch when Mike and our dad came out of the room with serious looks on there faces. Mike went over to our fridge an pulled out an apple and took a bite out of it. Don't worry, you don't need to ask or anything.

After 20 minutes of talking about school and the fact that were getting so big, we said good bye to our dad.

"Do you know how long you will be?" I asked.

"I'm not sure yet but ill keep in touch and once I know ill tell you." He said as he holds up his antique flip phone.

"While your there can you think of getting a new phone, maybe something from this generation." Brittany said with an annoyed face, the face she always pulls when shes telling people to do stuff.

Dad chuckled "Ill think about it."

After we did the whole good bye scene which I wont bore you with, it mostly consisted of hugging and saying good bye and I love you, then more hugging, we walked to Mikes truck and Brittany and I hopped in the back seat.

The first thing I noticed about the truck was the smell. It smelled like fast food and dirty socks. Other than the smell mike kept his truck relatively clean, apart from the occasional candy wrapper on the floor.

"So, Mike, can we call you Mikey, or Mike the wonderful." Brittany asked trying to break the ice between us.

Mike laughed, "No, but you can call me Uncle Mike if you would like."

"I think I'll stick with Mike." I said jokingly.

The car ride there wasn't bad, we talked about our dad and what they used to do when they were kids. After about a half an hour later mike told us that we were almost to his house and that he had a surprise waiting for us when we got there.

When we got out of the car Mike handed us our suitcases and we walked inside. The house was nice, it looked like a normal everyday house except behind the house was 20 acres of land of just grass.

When we got in the house there were four other people sitting on the couch, two boys and two girls.

"Surprise." Mike said.
