Chapter 1

One Hour Later

Smoke slowly trailed skyward from the hot barrel. Approximately ten feet away stood one of them. A small, perfectly round hole was dug into the center of its pale gray forehead. Dark red liquid slowly oozed from the wound. The white, glazed over eyes rolled into the back of its head. Its foot inched a step back before it fell, joining the many others on the floor.

With a quick, reassuring glance about her she knew that they were all dead…permanently. She loosened her stance of battle mode and gone into watchful mode. Her highly sensitive ears taking in the least bit of sound around her. A shallow intake of breath had her spinning to face the source. Her eyes narrowed defensively. The battle was not over.

The last of the large group has finally found her. Though her facial expression was blank, her mind told her she was disgusted by the creatures.
