His voice faded to a quiet silence and Raven couldn't hear her heartbeat anymore.

Instead, she was listening to the echo of her name spilled by his lips. Her body would have tensed up if it wasn't already before his arrival.

He should not be here. This was her moment, the moment she had been gaining courage for.

"What are you doing here? It's pretty late ya know?" He felt the need to ask, but she remained stiff and silent.

As he stepped foward and sat by her side, she lowered her head, attempting to hide her face behind hair.

"Sorry I came down here. When you left I was awake, and you kinda took a long time to come back... "

Sorry. He was sorry for saving her life, for the moment.

"Is something wrong?" A tilted head waited a response.

More time passed by but her mind was blank, she was starting to hear her heartbeat again.

"Rae, say something. You're worrying me now."

Pressing her eyes tight shut, she let the tension leave her body. Despite felling dizzy and weak, Raven locked her lifeless gaze upon his eyes.

A shiver went through Gar's body as he paid close attention to her features. Something was wrong, very wrong.

His lips parted, unable to speak. He studied her eyes, lost of emotion. Not hiding as usual, this time, her eyes lacked emotion.

Her body trembled slightly, her vision was blurry, results of sleepless nights and decreased eating.

Just before her body fell towards his, he concluded that this time, she had hit the bottom for good.

He held tight, real tight. She had no strength left and he could feel her dead weight on his body. Shortly after, small tears stained her pale cheeks.

"It's okay now." he whispered. "Everything will be okay." Gloved fingers interlaced in her hair, holding her head close to his chest. "I promise."
