I awoke to the loud sound of banging on my apartment door, 'don't they know I am trying to sulk here.' I murmured as I proceeded to shuffle my feet towards the door. I looked through the peephole, shocked at who was on the other side. Brooke Davis, the most popular girl in school, portrayed to have everything, but only a select few see the real façade of. Here she was, my best friend, standing outside my door in the dead of night in a state I have never seen her in before. Her hair was in a messy ponytail, eyes red rimmed and blood shot, fresh tears trickling down her pale cheeks, arms wrapped protectively around her for comfort. The more I stood and took in her truly broken features; no words were able to pass my lips. My heart broken even more for her; once my composure was somewhat regained, I nodded signaling for her to enter.

"Brooke, what's wrong, Hun. Please, talk to me."

"Hales…." She spoke my name so softly I barley heard it.

"Is it about Lucas?" she just nodded in response.

I watched her closely, taking deep breaths, hide her hands in her hoodie pocket so I wouldn't see them shaking.

"Take your time, I have a night," she took a couple more breaths and proceeded

"He wants me to 'take care of it.' Hales, I didn't plan this either…. I can't kill it… I… I gotta go."

It was almost as if my body was paralyzed. My legs were unable to move like I had stepped in wet cement. I was grateful that when I reached out I was able to grasp her as she turned.

"Wait, Brooke, you are not going anywhere. Why would you?"

"Hales, you are his best friend… and…"

"and nothing; Brooke, if he was HALF the guy I thought he was he would be standing right here with you."

"Yeah. I knew he would be scared or whatever, but I didn't see this coming…"

"I know, Tiger."

"I just thought 'someday' and it would be with him. I loved him, how stupid was I for that."

"You are not stupid, Brooke. We all have a vision of 'someday' and the type of person we want that with. It just turns out that it end up different than what we have originally thought."

"I guess you are right. Thanks, Hales. I feel a little better now. "

I gave her a smile and was delighted to receive one in return.

"You can stay here as long as you would like. Nathan and I broke up and honestly, I have been lonely."

"I couldn't ask you to take us in."

"You didn't ask, you are just doing so."

"Haley James, you are one convincing girl and a demanding one at that, but why not? It would be fun!"

"Welcome to the start of a new adventure, Tiger."

"I wouldn't find anyone else crazy enough to accompany me, Tutor Girl."
