Chapter 2: Thank you Pretty Lady.

A week later Shay and Alexis were gathered around the table is the muck hall, chatting with the guys while Mills cooked breakfast, they all had a 6am start and so far by 8am there had been no call outs, no traffic accidents, nothing.

Suddenly Chief Boden walked out of his office to greet to people by the front entrance. When his arrive back, he introduces his godson and goddaughter Detective Antonio Dawson and Officer Gabriela Dawson. The last named clicked in Shay's head and she quickly spun around in her chair to face them. She was met by warm brown eyes staring at her from her brother side.

Chief Boden voice boomed, 'Thanks to Shay and Alexis here, they saved Officer Dawson life and for that I am grateful, so let give a round of applause to our paramedics.'

Both Shay and Alexis blushed at being the center of attention. Shay smiled towards also blushing younger Dawson. The Chief invited them to stay for breakfast and join them with their family.

Mills placed the food around the table and Shay noticed him smile towards Gabriela as she walked towards the table, and she felt a pang of jealousy. But Gabriela took the vacant seat next to Shay and smiled at her. While the food was being served out and everyone was distracted, Gabriela leaned over, took Shay's hand in her and whispered, 'Thank you, for saving me and for not letting embrace myself in front of my force.'

Shay smiled weakly and replied, 'You're most welcome Officer.'

'Call me Dawson, everyone calls me Dawson.'

'It's nice to meet you then Dawson.'

Dawson smiled as Shay accepts her nickname. The morning breakfast proceeds, with laughs all-round the table and a few questions. After breakfast, Shay can't help but ask about Dawson's wound. Dawson asks for her appoint on something about the scar tissue.

Dawson's grimaced at the mention to everyone and asked to be excused to the ladies room, while Shay follows closely behind. Walking into the women's locker room, Dawson stops and pulls up her shirt to just below her bra and Shay examines the scar tissue slowly healing around the entry wound. At the exit wound the scar tissue is not as bad as Shay though it would be.

'How long with this mark be on my skin for?'

'10 years plus, there is a lot of scar tissue at the entry point. Why do you ask?'

'Seeing if applies to the other on my map that the doctors call skin. Will I be able to tattoo over it?'

'Not for another year so it doesn't pull and tear the skin. Why are you going to get it tattooed over?'

'Not fully, I like joining the dots to the map.' Dawson points to a few lines on her ribs that spread to her spine and whispered, 'I got those from a motorcycle's accident.'

Shay gently ran her fingers slowly over the scar that used to be a deep open wound on her ribs, as Dawson involuntary shivered. Dawson pulled Shays hand away from the scar and Shay turned to look her in the eyes and Dawson whispered, 'You really do have the most prettiest eyes.'

Shay openly stared at this beautiful woman in front of her, surprised at her admission.

Dawson smiled at her shock and said, 'Want to out to dinner or something? I take you to a bar but I can drink while on my meds and any way a pretty lady like you deserves to be fed.'

Shay could only nod in response; normally she would be the one to ask females out on dates.

Dawson chuckled at her response and said, 'I'll pick you up here at the end of your shift at 6?'

'Yes…yeah that would be great,' Shay stuttered.

Dawson pulled her shirt down to cover the healing scar and waved goodbye as Shay stood dumbfounded.

As Dawson walked out of the Station, she said her thanks to the boys for the hospitality and hugged Alexis for helping her get in contact with Shay and assisting in saving her.

Shay was still standing in the locker room when Alexis snapped her out of her trance and giggled, 'That girl is everything you want. Look at you drooling. I'm so proud of you Shay.'

All she got in response was a laugh as Shay walked out back to their rig, to make sure they had everything and maybe get one last look of Dawson as she left. But she was already gone. God, this girl was going to drive her nuts, she thought to herself.
