"Between Truth and Lies"

Chapter 2

It takes a while before the words the man had said sink in Miyu's head.

"Huh? Son?" And why did he call me Yumi? She wanted to voice out but she's still a bit weak to talk.

She saw the brunet man's face darkened and look at the doctor.

"Doc, is there something wrong with my wife? Like damage on her brain or something?"

The doctor scanned the papers on his hand and turn to the man who asked him. "We have examined her head since she bumped into a rock when the accident happened. But, fortunately, Mr. Saionji we haven't found any damage."

The man gritted his teeth and gaze at her with the same cold look he had given her. "So, she doesn't loss her memory?"

"I think not, we see no injury on her or an internal bleeding inside her head, Mr. Saionji. I think your wife's just confuse about what happened."

Upon hearing the word 'wife' Miyu's eyes widen. Wife? She's his wife? How the hell did that happened? She doesn't remember marrying someone! And she doesn't even know who he is!

The man who the doctor called 'Mr. Saionji' averted his gaze on her; Miyu feels goose bumps all over her body. Is he mad? Why would he be mad at me?

Then his cold gaze hit her. That's right! Yumi and she got into an accident. Yumi was driving her own car and she was outside her car when a truck crashed into them. Maybe that's the reason she was in a hospital right now. But.. where's Yumi?

"Ugh.. w-wait.." she slowly said. "W-where's Yumi? Where is she?" she tried to look in the room if she can found another bed and hoping she would see Yumi lying there. Miyu's instinct's telling her that this brunet man who was in front of her was mistaking her for Yumi.

The nurses and the doctor exchange glances.

The Saionji guy arched his eyebrow at her, his stare were clearly telling her that 'what the fuck are you saying' look. "Can you please leave us alone, doc?" he said rather calmly.

The doctor and nurses didn't say a word and bowed before leaving them.

"Where's Yumi, huh?" his stare was sharp, dangerous. She feels like she was burning at his gaze. "Well, should I get a mirror if you wanna see yourself?" he let out a humorless chuckle.

Her eyes widen. Just as her thought. They had mistaken her for Yumi because of her look. Who wouldn't? They were twins, and the only one who can tell who is who between them was their grandmother.

"N-no.. I-I'm not Yumi. My name's Miyu. I am her sister. We're twins." She explained slowly. Praying that he would believe her sincere words.

"Miyu, huh?" his voice was dark, and the look he was giving her now was sending chills to her whole body. She literally feels herself shaking. "Don't start on me again, Yumi. Seriously, aren't you tired of telling me your fucking lies?"

"B-but I'm not lying.." tears are starting to form on her green eyes. "I-I just came here with Yumi, I—"

"No more shitty words from you." He pointed a finger on her. "I'm warning you now, Yumi. I'm not playing games with you anymore so you needed to frigging stop it before I lose my temper."

"B-but—"

She was going to say something at him but she cut off by his mocking look.

"Tell me; how you can even prove to me that you are that Miyu Kozouki you were talking about? Hmm? And of course, you know her because you were both together during the accident happened. How, Yumi? How?"

"Y-you can ask her! I look exactly like Yumi that's why you have mistaken me for her. But believe me, if you j-just bring me to her, she can prove it."

The man in front of her grinned. "The girl you were talking about was already dead. So you really need to fucking stop telling stories. Even her grandmother can prove to us that she is Miyu. Just stop it, Yumi. I know you were that desperate to get rid of me and my son, but sorry to break it up to you. From today onwards, you're going to take care of Ruu. You're not allowed to go outside the house now without my permission."

Miyu's mind suddenly went blank when he mentions that the 'Miyu Kozouki' she was talking about was dead.

Dead? No. that's not true, isn't it? He's just telling lies, isn't he? He just didn't want to let go of her that's why he's telling her those kinds of jokes, right? Her sister's not dead, okay? They were just talking and fighting just fine before the accident happened.

"N-no.." she whispered. Her tears were freely making its way out of her eyes down her cheeks. "No please.. Tell me.. t-tell me you're lying. Tell me that she's not dead!" her whole body was shaking, her heart's beating so fast that she think that they would come out of her chest any second. She wanted to get mad at this man for saying that her sister is dead.

"She's dead." He repeated. His hands are on his pockets, looking at her with those beautiful, brown but cold eyes.

The tears on her eyes continue to flow. No.. No.. please God, if ever this was a nightmare please.. Wake me up.

"I don't exactly know what your relationship with her is, but she didn't make it when the incident happened. Her body was so burnt that's why the medics can't even recognize her. The only proof that we have is that her watch and the DNA test."

"D-DNA?" She managed to look at him, confuse.

"Yeah. They perform DNA on her. And guess what? Her DNA and the DNA of her grandmother matched. And, didn't you tell me that you didn't have any family anymore?"

Miyu put her hands on her mouth. Trying to control her sobs. This is not happening. No. This can't be.. No.. her grandmother must be so depressed right now thinking that she died. She needed to see her grandmother.

"T-then, at least let me see my grandmother. She will know if I am Miyu or not." Another set of tears escaped her eyes.

He ignored her. He turned his back on her and put his two hands on his pockets. "Let you talk to her? Can't do that, sorry." He looked at her again and shrugged.

Miyu looked at him while crying when she noticed something on his voice. It was cold yes. But, she can see it in his brown eyes..

Pain…

While looking at his eyes, she felt that all of her remaining energy was being sucked. She wanted to look away but she can't.

Why? What Yumi did to this man, to make him look like this? For him to be so cold and dangerous like this? To make him not to believe in every word she is saying?

Miyu thought that he can't convince her if she was crying. She gathers all of her strength to talk again; she tried to ignore the pain she was feeling on her physical and emotional state.

She refrained herself from crying, look him in the eyes and say, "Believe me! I'm not Yumi. I can prove it!"

Kanata turns around. "Prove? How?" his eyebrows raised and put his arms over his chest. "Very well then, prove to me that you're telling the truth then I'll consider letting you talk with your so called grandmother."

"The mole! I have no—" Miyu suddenly stopped when she remembered something. No. Yumi put a tattoo on her chest too. Another tears fall from her eyes.

What should I do? The only thing I can prove to him that I'm not Yumi is that mole.. but.. I.. obaa-chan.. I want to see my grandmother.. let me see her. I'm begging you please. Because she's feeling so hopeless, she just can't say anything anymore. Yumi got her cornered. Every single detail that would prove that she was not Yumi, her sister has deliberately taken all the things that would prove that she is really Miyu.

"What?" his eyes trail down her hand that was holding the hospital gown, revealing the mole on her chest. When Kanata sees it, he smirked. "You're going to say something about your mole? Why? It's still here, see?" Kanata touched the mole, Miyu blushed at the contact. She quickly removed his hand at her chest. The man simpers at her action. He probably misunderstands that she doesn't want to be touched by him. "I told you Yumi.. You can't lie to me now." He stood up; Miyu just noticed that he was already sitting on the hospital bed with her. "When you start to feel better, you'll just stay at the house and watch over Ruu." He headed for the door, he held the doorknob on his hand, but before he exited the room he said another sentence without looking at her. "I know that you don't love me anymore. It's not like I still love you too though. We both know that ever since you betrayed me I lose all my compassion and love towards you. I'm doing this for the sake of our son. He's too young to see his own parents separated. Take care of him this time. It is my only request to you. Don't worry, when he is old enough to understand everything I'll give you your freedom." And then Kanata slam the door leaving the blonde crying.

She bit her lips and continued to cry. She grabbed her bandaged head and shook her head. Her head was pounding but she was not paying attention to her physical pain. She didn't know how to escape the dilemma her sister has put into her.

Please tell me this is not happening. I'm not Yumi.. I'm not..
