Authors Notes: YAY! The second chapter that no one has been waiting for... I'm not popular on Fanfic yet... :( TBH I have too much time on my hands... This chapter is about Nico in Westover Hall. Nico finds out he's homosexual here. Nico is still that insecure little boy. FYI he is 9, almost 10 right now. More than 50 years have passed, though (Lotus Hotel and Casino). Anyways, enjoy!
Nico looked up at the gigantic double doors of Westover Hall Military School. It looks like a freaking castle, he thought. Cold, and dark. Nico was more than a little disoriented. He's been pulled out of a place he had known for - what was it, years or months? The Italian boy shivered in his too big aviator jacket, due to the fact that it was a cold autumn evening. His big suitcase, containing clothes and other necessary stuff, dragged behind him. Holding hands with Bianca, he walked through the doors and found himself face to face with a tall and skinny man.
"Hello, children. I am Mr. Holts, the principal of this school. I assume you are new here?" he asked. Nico and Bianca nodded.
"Then, come this way." They followed the man into what looked like his office. After ruffling through a few papers, he said, "Nico and Bianca di Angelo? ...No parents ...From Washington... Okay, Nico, you are in dorm number 392 and Bianca you are in 453. Here are your maps, and-"
"We're not in the same room?" Nico blurted, and then blushed. "Sorry."
"Unfortunately not. There weren't any open rooms since you enrolled in the middle of the year. Now, learn lots!" With that, Mr. Holts disappeared behind a door. The siblings glanced at each other and said their goodnights before walking to their appropriate rooms.
Nico was reluctant to leave Bianca. He was sure that he would get lost in the massive hallways. Using the map and taking a few wrong turns, he found himself at the door of his new home. A million questions ran through his head - Who will my roommate be? How long am I going to stay here? I wonder if my roommate keeps his/her stuff clean. And most importantly, Who was that lawyer who brought us out of that hotel? And why?
Nico shook his head. He would have to find out another time. Knock knock. The sounds echoed across the empty hallway. He waited for what seemed like an eternity, not daring to breathe. Nico thought that the people in other rooms could hear his heart beating. Just as he was about to knock again, the door creaked open and there stood his roommate. He looked about 14, if not younger. Not too skinny, just average and with muscles that barely showed through his shirt. He wasn't tall or short.
"Hey there! You must be my new roommate!" he said in an enthusiastic voice. "I'm Jordan Bell, but you can call me JB."
"Uhh... Hi. I-I'm Nico. Nico di Angelo." Nico shook JB's hand that was thrust at him.
JB led the younger boy into the room. Just as Nico hoped, it wasn't a total mess. Everything was orderly and stacked, with a few pieces of garbage and clothes here and there. A bunk bed stood in the corner and the blankets weren't dirty or messy. It smelled like... like what a normal house would smell like. "Wow" was all that came out of Nico's mouth.
The two spent the evening chatting about the school, but mostly it was one-sided because Nico wasn't too fond of socializing. Nico detected a faint scent of salad in JB's breath. He really hoped that salad wasn't the only choice the school cafeteria offered. JB talked about all his experiences with the school and his favorite parts and Nico tried to seem like he was paying attention.
"-and that's why I like the washroom in the north side more than any other ones. Oh, shit - er, sorry - look at the time! It's almost 10, wanna get ready for bed?" JB asked in the same bubbly voice. Nico nodded a "yes" and unpacked his clothes. JB took the top bunk and Nico slid into the bottom. He spent the rest of the night quietly and went to sleep with questions swirling in his head again.
The next morning, Nico woke up reaching for his sister and feeling nothing. All he thought was that Bianca got out of bed already until he realized where he was. The olive-skinned boy groaned and rolled over.
"Awake now? Get into your uniform, they're serving morning food in the cafeteria," came JB's voice from the side. Wait, did he say uniform? Nico thought groggily. Frick this school.
The cafeteria was a piece of crap in Nico's mind. He thought everything was crap about this school. The food they served was bland and tasteless. Nico sat at a corner table where he could be alone. Nico looked for his sister and he spotted her with a group of girls laughing and gossiping. How did she make that many friends already?
Classes were even worse. An hour of lecturing or doing work. Nico barely paid attention, and the teachers didn't even seem to care.
Nico's life was absolutely terrible. Until someone new moved in the room.
"Hey guys, I'm Eric. I'm your new roommate, so you guys are stuck with me, I guess." The new student got the same greeting Nico got from JB. Nico, on the other hand, looked calm and said hello, but his heart was beating real quick. The way his hair is brushed back but also natural, his chiseled face - what was he talking about?
That's a dude. You can't like dudes. Nico's brain thought.
His heart replied, But he's cuuute.
No. Never. I'm not gay.
But nevertheless, that would be Nico's first person he liked. He reached out and shook Eric's hand, too; even that brief contact with him made Nico's heart leap. Nico went to sleep that day conflicting with himself.
I don't think I'm gay.
Then why do I want him so bad?
Author's Notes: Lol that was bad, I know. I'm not very good at writing plot. I would really appreciate some feedback on this chapter. Also, help a friend out by clicking that favorite button up there, but only if you want to. See you all next time,
