A/N Hey everyone! Thank you for reading my story! I just wanted to tell you how much it means to me and to remind you to please review! I love feedback of any kind. Also, I forgot to write in my last chapter that all rights of Inuyasha and its characters goes to Rumiko Takahashi but this plot is all mine! Enjoy!
The first thing Kagome saw as she woke up on the small futon was two amber eyes staring at her happily.
"Mornin'" she said groggily as she looked at her beloved Inu hanyou.
"Bout time you woke up, I was starting to think you were dead or something" InuYasha teased as he leaned in to give his fiance a kiss. Kagome could only think that she could not wait to be able to wake up like that every morning.
"We have a lot to do" Kagome murmured under InuYasha's lips as he continued to kiss her.
"It can wait" he muttered before climbing on top of her to continue kissing her, Kagome started to feel jolts of pleasure run through her body as their kiss deepened and she felt his tongue start to lick her lips as if asking for permission to enter. Of course, she granted him entrance by opening her mouth and letting his tongue slip in and battle against her tongue for dominance in a little game. Kagome moaned as InuYasha started slipping his hand under her shirt to lightly rub her side and attempt to start pulling up her shirt. Just when Kagome was about to give in they jumped apart from Shippo's voice.
"InuYasha! How could you?! We were supposed to show Kagome the hut together… I did most of the work anyway…" From both the irritation of him disrupting Kagome and InuYasha from kissing for a second time, and for his little comment of doing most of the work, InuYasha hopped off the futon just to punch Shippo on the top of his head.
"OW! InuYasha that hurt! Kagome do something!" Shippo then jumped into Kagome's arms as she commanded "InuYasha! Sit boy! Jeez, I thought you guys would be over this childish fighting by now"
"Well he is just a child so why would we?" InuYasha said in an irritated voice as he pulled himself up off the ground. "I might've missed you when you were gone, but I sure as hell didn't miss that"
"Oh InuYasha… will you ever grow up?" Kagome said with a sigh.
"Kagome what's that on your finger?" Shippo questioned as he stared quizitively at Kagome's new engagement ring.
"It's my engagement ring Shippo, InuYasha and I are getting married! He proposed last night when he showed me the hut" Kagome answered excitedly.
"WHAT?! You guys are finally getting married?! I guess I can let InuYasha off the hook for showing you the hut without me for now then…" Kagome laughed as InuYasha sarcastically murmured "Oh gee really? How very kind of you."
"I know. I spoil you sometimes" Shippo said earnestly, "I need to tell everyone about this! I never could have imagined the day InuYasha would get engaged!" Shippo said as he quickly jumped out of Kagome's arms and sprinted out the door towards the village.
"Someone's excited" Kagome said as she giggled, InuYasha just sighed and said "I give it one hour tops before the entire continent knows we're getting married."
"We actually need to go meet with Kaede to see if she can perform the ceremony for us" Kagome said as she slipped her shoes on. "How soon do you want to actually get married?" She questioned.
"As soon as possible, I've waited for you for three years already, and I know with all my heart that this is what I want, so what's the point in waiting?"
"Good point, so next month maybe? Well maybe that's too soon even…" Kagome murmured as she pondered when the event should take place.
"No that's much too long, I think we should tomorrow" InuYasha said matter-of-factly.
"What?! Tomorrow? That soon? How am I supposed to get everything ready in two days!?" Kagome said in a panic. She always dreamed about what her wedding day would be like ever since she was a young girl, and she knew she couldn't have everything she dreamed to have in her wedding in just two short days.
"What do we really need? All we need is a priestess, Kaede, a few witnesses, Shippo, Sango, and Miroku, and a husband and wife. What else is there?"
"Um.. How about the wedding cake, wedding kimono, the music, the feast, the bouquets, and the horse drawn carriage?!" Kagome practically screamed.
"Two questions, is the horse drawn carriage really necessary? And what is a wedding cake?" InuYasha said as he tilted his head to the side curiously. Kagome let out a groan in irritation, but then she thought about it, he was the love of her life and all those petty things weren't that important in the long run.
"I guess I could just ask Shippo to pick some wild flowers for the bouquets, Sango to lend me her wedding kimono, and the villagers can all come together to put together a feast if you hunted the animals for it." She said as she batted her long eyelashes at her fiance.
"Fine, if it will make you happy I'll hunt the best animals for a great feast, and I'm pretty sure Shippo can take care of inviting everyone since he probably has already told half of the continent by now"
"Okay then! It's set. We will get married tomorrow!" Kagome said happily before giving InuYasha a peck on the lips.
A few hours later Kagome was in Kaede's hut with Sango, Rin, Kaede, and Sango's children as they fixed Sangos wedding kimono so it fit her perfectly, they also added some new designs on the outside with gold threading to make it unique for Kagome. They all giggled and talked in excitement as they prepared for the next days festivities.
"I am so happy for you and Inuyasha" Rin said happily as she helped hold a piece of cloth for Kaede to work on.
"Me too!" Sango agreed excitedly while feeding her new infant son. Kagome giggled and agreed. She still couldn't believe she was finally back with her best friends and her true love.
"Where did InuYasha go again?" Rin asked.
"Him, Shippo, and Miroku went to hunt for the feast tomorrow" Kagome said as she finished stitching the last of the design she was putting on the kimono. "There! Finished. What do you girls think?"
"Wow… Its beautiful" The three girls said in unison.
"Kagome, you will look absolutely magnificent on your wedding day" Kaede said.
"Thank you Kaede, I just wish my family could be here for it… Although I don't regret coming here to be with InuYasha and all my friends, I still know I will miss them terribly. Especially on my wedding day." Kagome said sadly as she stared at the kimono in her hands.
"Why can't they just come for the day?" Rin asked puzzled.
"Because Kagome and InuYasha were the only ones that could travel through the well to different times, and now that the shikon jewel is gone, they don't even want to chance trying to travel through it in fear they will be separated again" Sango explained quietly trying not to upset Kagome any further.
"I am sorry Kagome, I did not realize" Rin said apologetically.
"It's alright, you didn't know and besides, like I said, I don't regret my decision. I'm just happy I get to marry the man I love tomorrow" Kagome said already starting to feel better just by thinking of InuYasha.
"Yeah, and you still have all of us. We all consider you a part of our family and will be there for you no matter what" Sango said as she put her arm around Kagome reassuringly as she held her baby in the other. Kaede and Rin agreed with her and both of them smiled at Kagome.
"Thanks guys, that really means alot to me. How did I ever make friends like you?"
"By meeting a certain Inu hanyou and breaking the sacred jewel" Kaede teased.
"Whatever works!" Kagome joked and the girls all laughed.
"Iron reaver soul stealer!" InuYasha exclaimed as he sliced his claws through the air, successfully hunting a large boar.
"Although that boar was large, dont you think you went a little… well… overboard?" Miroku asks as he stared at the ten trees that got chopped down along with the boar.
"Whatever gets the job done." Inuyasha says as he throws the boar over his shoulder to start carrying it back to the village.
"InuYasha doesn't know the meaning of the word overboard" Shippo murmured as he carried two rabbits over both his shoulders. InuYasha then let out a warning growl to tell Shippo to shut the hell up before he knocked him out cold.
"Kagome isn't here to protect you, so I would watch your mouth Shippo" InuYasha said in a warning tone. Miroku laughed at the ridiculous two and shook his head.
"Are you excited to finally get married to Kagome now that you two are finally reunited?" Miroku asked InuYasha as he adjusted the medium sized boar he was carrying from one shoulder to the other.
"Of course I am. I've been waiting for this for three years, and now she's finally back and I can claim her as mine, forever."
"Are you going to make her your official mate on your wedding night?" Shippo asked curiously.
"Of course I am, I need to do it as soon as possible before any other pesky demons tries to do it before I get the chance."
"Doesn't the mating process consist of you turning into your yokai form while having sex with Kagome and then marking her by biting her on her neck where it meets her shoulder?" Miroku asked curiously.
"Basically, but it's much more important to demons than a human could ever understand."
"Why is that?" Miroku inquired
"Because when demon's mate, it is eternal. No other demon or living creature can ever touch a mated demon. It also connects the two mated demons mentally, spiritually, and even in some ways physically. Without being mated, demons are not considered technically a "couple" at all, it is a very sacred ritual for demons" InuYasha explained.
"Wow, I would have never thought demons could have such important rituals."
When the boys finally finished hunting, and the girls finished preparing the clothes, decorations, and flowers for the next day, they all met together at Kaede's hut for dinner and talked excitedly about the events to come. Once nightfall came, Miroku and Sango dragged InuYasha to their hut to stay the night because the bride and groom were not supposed to see each other until the wedding ceremony.
"But why not?!" InuYasha protested as Miroku tried to pry him out the door away from Kagome. "What if Kagome gets hurt and I'm not around to save her?"
"She will be staying with Kaede tonight, she will be perfectly safe, I assure you." Miroku said exhaustedly from trying to pull InuYasha away.
"InuYasha, I promise I will be fine, and this is an important tradition for weddings so I want to keep it. I'll see you tomorrow, I promise" Kagome said as she smiled at InuYasha lovingly.
"Alright Kagome… I still don't like this, and I want to say goodbye in private" Miroku left the room and warned him he had exactly five minutes before he drug InuYasha out by his dog ears.
"I love you Kagome" InuYasha said before kissing Kagome softly on her lips.
"I love you too InuYasha, and I promise everything will be fine, I will see you tomorrow"
"You swear?" InuYasha asked worriedly.
"I swear, I'll be the one in white" Kagome said before going on her tiptoes to kiss him on his cheek. Just then Miroku broke through the room and grabbed InuYasha and started dragging him out the door.
"Let go of me Miroku! I can walk by myself you know!" InuYasha exclaimed as he tried to pull his arm out of Miroku's vise-like grip on his arm. Kagome couldn't help but laugh at the scene in front of her, and she blew her fiance one last kiss before they disappeared into the night. Kagome couldn't sleep due to the anticipation she was having for the biggest day of her life. It would be the day she would finally become one with her true soulmate, and she could not wait.
