Yo what's up! Thank you to the three reviewers from last chapter! I really appreciate your input. Sorry it's been so busy lately, but I have had half of this written since I wrote the first chapter, but didn't really have time for finishing it until now. Do you know how hard it was trying to do that first chapter without revealing anything much? I had to throw some writing rules out the window and it drove me crazy, all for that last sentence to work right. Ahaga! :(
Well hopefully it did its job, and you all keep on reading this. From here on out I won't ruin my writing by trying to do something else. Oh and this part of the story, the one that takes place before the first chapter, it happens sometime after the third movie. So Aladdin is married and knows about his father.
This is an explanation to the first chapter and to those of you who don't know about the tv series this is based off of.
To clear up the confusion from the fist chapter, Mozenrath (who most people who don't know about cause he is one of the villains from the tv series and not the movies) and Mirage (also from tv series) are together and are talking in the beginning. And Aladdin is his younger brother. I came up with this idea from a fact that Disney creators leaked out about the third Aladdin movie. The fact was that they were originally planning on reveleaing aladdins father AND his older brother, who was going to be Mozenrath. But due to fans not knowing who Mozenrath was to Aladdin and their current relationship as enemies (because most people don't know about the tv series where his existence was made known) they cut it out. The tv series takes place between the second and third movie. They tried to keep the references to a minimum though so people wouldn't be confused. But if you know my writing by now you know how much I love hero corruption so, obviously I made my own story. (well technically all my stories kinda make themselves, I just type them, I have no control of what they'll do).
Now on with Aladdin's day!
Music, blood, and Greed
Aladdin is walking with Jasmine and they were choosing some fruit from a fellow when they hear a strange sound. It sounded like a flute, which wasn't the strange part. The strange part was that only Aladdin could hear it.
Aw man, what wonderful music. So relaxing and….. He suddenly got a strange urge. He went over to the man who was trying to sell them some fruit and distracted him and then stole a fruit and started eating it while he walked away. Jasmine clearly saw this and was shocked at what he had done.
"Aladdin, why did you steal that? We could have just left a coin for it you know" She started to chew him out. Then he sneered at her and said, "When he can't even spare one for a poor kid who is starving, like it makes a difference. He doesn't deserve the stinking money." He continued on walking away from her, but she snapped out of her shock and caught up to him quickly. She put herself directly in his path and said, "Excuse me but where is this coming from? Is there something I'm missing here?" She put her hands on her hips, "You don't just act rude like that and walk away from me! Go and give him a coin. NOW!" She was defiantly getting upset now.
He glared at her and replied in a deeper voice that startled her, "And why should I listen to you?" He took a step closer to her and she retreated a step back as he continued, "You don't know anything about these people! You have been stuck in that blasted castle your whole life! How would you know weather someone deserves something or not, princess?" He ended his scary speech with a low growl and left her.
She watched in silence as he disappeared into the crowd. Oh Aladdin, what's gotten into you? And what can I do to get it out? I have to go talk to Genie about this.
That's where I left it off before, and was going to be the chapter, but I didn't post it cause I wanted it to be longer (plus I got a request for it to be longer), so here is what I typed up shortly ago.
Aladdin was still walking down the street and he saw a little boy sharing food with his little brother and something in him felt sad, and then he suddenly stopped and remembered something, but it was fuzzy. Then he thought about the day he first saw Jasmine, and he realized he had been a complete jerk to her earlier. Wait, why did I do that to her? He couldn't remember, so he decided to go back to the palace and wait for her and apologize.
Jasmine was already waiting for him, and as soon as he was in sight she gave him a mixed look. Then Genie made a medical bed pop up under him and started to examine him. After he was sure that Al was ok, they let him tell his side of the story, which was pretty vague.
"I'm telling you, I really don't know what came over me. I started to hear this beautiful relaxing music and it was just a feeling that had come over me suddenly. I honestly didn't mean it." He pleaded for Jasmine to understand.
She gave him the silent treatment for a few minutes, and then finally gave and said, "I guess there are a lot of weird things that happen to us, so long as it doesn't happen again. You really scared me Aladdin; I didn't even recognize you anymore. Just promise me you'll resist the urge if you feel it again." She put her arms around him.
"I promise."
Little did they know that someone was watching them.
"Well, that was annoying. Why did he snap out of it! I thought we had him! Instead we failed." Mirage growled.
"Oh, I don't know Mirage, I think it was quite a success." Mozenrath stated from behind her.
"Oh and why do you think that?" she asked curiously.
"Because, it worked. He did turn, via a short amount of time, but it was a success none the less. You just have to have patience. Though, I do find the fact that something so simple snapped him out of it. We'll have to pick the next location more critically. I think I will pay him a surprise visit, just to shake him up a bit." Mozenrath grinned evilly.
"When are you planning on telling him the secret?"
"That, is a good question. I would rather do it while he is under the flute's influence, but if the perfect opportunity arises sooner, then I guess I'll take my chances. After all, it was difficult for me to believe as well once I found out he was my brother…." Mozenrath faded into a memory from a few weeks ago.
~flashback~
Mozenrath was in his study when he heard something in his vault fall. He went to check it out and found no other then a thief. And not just any thief, the King of thieves.
"Well well well, looky what I've found here." He growled while raising his glowing hand at the man, who was now starting to try to find a way to escape.
Then Mozenrath stopped and straightened up and started to…. Laugh.
"Hahaha! I think your losing your touch old man, if you were actually trying to steal anything from me, you would have done it and been gone by the time I even came to the door. Right, father?" Cassim took off his mask and started laughing and went over and gave his oldest boy a big hug.
"My my my, how you've grown Ali. And that power! It must have been a glorious day when you took over Destain's kingdom from him after what he did to you! I'm so sorry I missed it."
"It's alright father. Its not like either of us expected me to make it out of that scenario alive anyway, let alone for me to learn magic of all things." He stared at the gauntlet for the mystical thing it was for the first time in a long time.
"Anyhow, lets not reminisce on bad times," he motioned for the King to follow him as he gave him a brief tour of the castle. "How have you been doing on your search father? I figured you have been doing well since you have earned yourself quite the reputation." Mozenrath laughed at the glimmer he saw in his fathers eyes when he saw all the dazzling things his castle held.
"yes, well my reputation quite exceedes me, I actually did have it, but I gave it up for something far more valuable." He looked sad and sincere at the same time. Mozenrath cocked an eyebrow at him. What could possibly make him literatly give up his dream?
"So, if I must ask, what was more important?" he was honestly cursiuose, his father had always told him stories about the golden hand on how it was their families crest, and that he would find it someday. What had changed?
"Huh." Cassim sighed and pointed to a couple chair in the room and gestured for Mozenrath to sit down. He could already tell that this was going to be troublesome news.
It turned out to be quite surprising, and at first he was upset, one that he had a brother, and two that he had been trying to kill that very brother for a long time now. Then he was starting to formulate a plan, his head bussling with ideas of how Aladdin was going to react to this. Cassim was shocked, to say the least, to hear of Mozenrath's battles with Aladdin. All this time, and neither of them knew. Yet their fates had already been interwined together.
~end flashback~
"The only problem I will have is getting him to except the fact that we are blood, and he was born into a family of natural criminals. Though he certainly does have fathers' compassion. But he lacks the greed. And every thief has greed. Whether you want it or not. And that's what our task here is. I think I will prepare my castle for a little 'family visit'."
So, please give me input. That flashback was completely un-planned so, yeah I guess it might be a little OOC. But honestly, I feel like it was pretty spot on for the most part. Review would be nice. And don't worry, the Evil part will come in, first Mozenrath has to instill the Greed in which Aladdin lacks. And by the way, incase anyone was wondering, the Flute only affects the person or people that the player wants to affect.
Hear is a fun thing I looked up while creating this story. Though it doesn't really pertain to the way I'm using the flute, but you know it is still interesting.
In a dream, a flute represents good news. To hear the sound of a flute in a dream means announcing someone's death. Playing the flute in a dream means developing a good understanding of things. If one is given a flute in a dream, it means an appointment to a high ranking job, protection from trials, becoming pious and living an ascetic life.
If I get five more reviews on this story I will tell a fun fact about something that has made writing this story a little frustrating yet still funny at the same time in the next chapter.
