Chapter Two

The Jedi Way

Anakin came to seeing medical droids surrounding him. He jerked back although they failed to notice. He felt his face; it was smooth as it always was. He hadn't burned; he still had his hair, his arm one mechanical the other human. What had happened to him? He had killed these droids, hadn't he? He was afraid that that power that he had felt, the lure to the dark side was so strong. He had to change things, he would. As a Jedi, he realized the vision had come from the Force, the Force wanted him to change it, but could he? He could go to the council and tell them, they would surely expel him or kill him. And they should, he had killed them all. There had to be another way, he thought, and they spoke of Obi Wan. He had tried to kill his master too.

He could hear his voice, "You were like my brother Anakin! You were the Chosen One! It was said you would destroy the sith not join them. You were supposed to bring balance to the force, not leave it in darkness," Obi Wan had said.

Anakin rushed out of the room before Obi Wan could be called. Knowledge rushed to him, the clones. The clones were programmed to destroy the Jedi. He had to tell someone, give them a chance. Although Obi Wan would survive he didn't know about the others. He had killed Master Windu, how could he face him now? Or he might as well have. He went to see Master Yoda.

"Talk to me you will, young Skywalker," he said. Anakin waited patiently.

"See you, Obi Wan will," Anakin waited for him to let go of the subject of Obi Wan. He had mixed feelings about him. He felt part of the rage he had then, but he also felt angry toward himself, how had it come to that? Obi Wan was like a father to him.

Master Yoda was looking beyond him, hearing things Anakin couldn't. "Careful you must be when sensing the future," Master Yoda said. Anakin hated the thought of being the source of all that pain and suffering.

"Master Yoda is it possible to change the future, is it possible that my premonition could be wrong?" he asked. Master Yoda looked at him thoughtfully.

"With great good comes great evil, the possibility," he said. Anakin gave that thought, it meant that he and his powers could be swayed either way.

"About your mother, do not tell me. Seen it I have," Yoda continued.

"Master Yoda, the clones will turn on the Jedi," Anakin revealed. He hoped that that would save Jedi lives.

"Darkness, everything is clouded in," Master Yoda said, and Anakin agreed. His future was clouded. Master Yoda had been right. He just had to prove that he was a true Jedi. He would not become a sith lord. The Chancellor would not use him, he would not fight his master, and he wouldn't hurt Padame.

"Skywalker, Obi Wan you will find," he said.

Anakin headed to his room in the Jedi temple, pausing by the younglings.

"Master Skywalker, there's so many of them, what will we do?" they had asked, trusting him.

It was only in his head. None of it had happened; he had not murdered the young Jedi. The dark side wanted his powers. How could he stop this from happening? Part of him, smiled. Who would have ever thought, that he, a slave of Tattooine would become one of the most feared sith lords of the galaxy. He fought back his thoughts; it was thoughts like that that would bring him to becoming Darth Vader. He had to banish them. How could he defeat the Chancellor? The Chancellor would be easy in comparison to defeating the darker side of him. Anakin felt a tremble in the force, and knew that his master was there. Anakin pulled with the force keeping Obi Wan far enough away from him.

Obi Wan felt it and spoke up, "Anakin, for Force sake, I'm not going to hurt you," he said with a gentle chuckle. Anakin felt angry. No he had only burnt him.

"LIARRRRRR!" Anakin screamed, as if it was from his vision. It had shocked him, and he bowed his head remorsefully. "I'm sorry, Master. Forgive me; I haven't gained the control over my emotions yet." Anakin was known as the Hero without Fear, yet he was afraid. Of himself. Of the Darth Vader inside.

"Anakin," Obi Wan said, "Tell me what happened. No Jedi has ever had a vision so powerful, not even Master Yoda," he said. "Tell me about the Clones, Anakin," he said. Anakin sighed, looking beyond Obi Wan, and then at him, memories of his vision returning.

He had to set things straight, and it wasn't just Padame he had to protect. "I'm not the Jedi I should be," he started.

"If it's because of your visions, Anakin. They haven't happened yet," Obi wan said. He could sense his presence was upsetting his young padawan.

"It's because of what I've done, Master," he said. "And how I felt about it. When my mother was kidnapped and killed, she died in my arms, Master, on Tattooine. I was so angry, I hated them all. I was so powerful, Master," he continued. "I killed them all. Not just the men, but the women and the children too," he continued. "They were like animals, and I slaughtered them like animals. I wanted them to suffer as I suffered when my mother died," Anakin said. He could feel Obi Wan touching him with the force and he backed away. "I killed Count Dooku," he stated. "I bested him and I cut off his arm like he cut off mine. I enjoyed it, Master, too much. Jedi aren't supposed to enjoy the fighting, but I do. I enjoy the power. Chancellor Palpatine told me he was too dangerous to be kept alive. And I killed him. It was not the Jedi way, yet I did it. The Chancellor wanted me to abandon you there, Master," he said turning to face Obi Wan. "Only Padame and Palpatine know. Do what you must, Obi Wan. Turn me in to the council."

"What about the Chancellor," Obi Wan asked apprentice. Obi Wan was shocked at his revelations. But what shocked him most was the Chancellor's manipulation over Anakin. Why had he wanted Anakin to kill the Count?

"Ask me later," Anakin said. "I need time to think," he said, turning his back to Obi Wan. "You will defeat General Grievous. Be aware of the clones. They will turn on the Jedi. Warn as many of them as you can. And keep them away from here," he said.

Obi Wan didn't understand him. He seemed so distance. His young apprentice was very headstrong. He was very passionate, and today he seemed accepting, and in a little bit of denial. How he wished he saw what Anakin had.

Obi Wan knew the Jedi Code as did his padawan.

There is no emotion; there is peace

There is no ignorance; there is knowledge.

There is no passion; there is serenity.

There is no chaos; there is harmony.

There is no death; there is the Force.

He was disappointed in Anakin but his heart went out to his young padawan. He was disturbed by Anakin's admittance of the Chancellor. He knew Palpatine wasn't behind the massacre that had been Anakin's emotions acting out. He had to control his emotions. Obi Wan was going to make more an effort to help him. He was the Chosen One. He was worried that Anakin had acted in the manner of a Sith. Obi Wan didn't dwell on it though. Anakin was a Jedi, but even Jedi made mistakes. He was to record, the only Jedi to ever know their mother. Obi Wan himself hadn't known his. Hate and Anger, Rage, and Dispair where what ruled a Sith. Tranquility and Peace were a Jedi's weapon against the Sith. The vision Anakin had had had lasted three days. Not even Master Yoda had one to last so long.

"Obi Wan," Anakin said speaking flatly. Obi Wan was afraid for him. Where was his padawan? "I need you to promise me something. Promise to protect Padame. Even if you have to protect her from me," he said.

Obi Wan's eyes narrowed but he promised. "I promise Anakin, no harm will come to her. "You will keep her away from me, Obi Wan, promise me," he cried passionately, and it was the first time he had spoken in other than a deadly tone.

"I promise, Anakin. I will protect her with my life, even if I have to protect her from you," he said, trying to soothe Anakin. He left Anakin to his thoughts and approached the council.
