Hey guys I'm back with another chapter. I made it longer this time. Just to clear up a few things, this Piper right now is NOT Piper McLean. This is Piper Grace, Reyna and Jason's daughter. You will understand as you read along, but for now just bear with me. Also, I know that Jason's mom is dead, but she had to be alive for this fanfic. Lastly by accident I said in the first chapter that Piper Grace is thirteen. She is actually eleven, so I wanted to clarify that.

Jason POV

When I got to work, I was greeted by my best friend Leo. He walked over smiling, but his smile melted away when he saw my face. "What happened," he inquired. "Nothing," I said trying for a reassuring smile. "Are you still having those dreams about Reyna?" he asked raising an eyebrow. "What makes you say that," I replied even though it was true. "You just seem so down," he said. Suddenly, his face lit up and he put on his mischievous grin. "I have an idea," he proclaimed. Oh no, I groaned inwardly. "How about you and me go to the bar after work so you can get a sexy girlfriend," he proposed wiggling his eyebrows. "Leo, you know I can't, I have to pick up Piper from school today, I said exasperated, "My mom has to go out this afternoon." Leo looked disappointed, but shrugged it off. He gave me one of his grins, and walked off to his office. After he was gone, I pondered to myself, I don't need anybody. My family is complete. I don't need a wife. I straightened myself and walked off to my office.

After a hard day's work, I got in my car to drive to Piper's school. When she came out, I saw that she had tears streaked on her face. "What's wrong, I asked.

"Nothing I don't want to talk about it."

"Are you sure?"

"Yes I just want to go home"

"Please just tell me"

"Okay fine," she answered exasperated, "At school one of the girls in my History class was giving out invitations for a sleepover."

"And you're crying because you weren't invited"

"No, I was"

"Then why are you crying"

"Because it's a mother daughter thing and since mom is gone there is no one to take me. Also some of the girls were laughing at me and rubbing it in my faces that they still have their mothers," she answered bursting into tears. The rest of the car ride was silent after that. I had to keep myself from crying. As soon as we reached our house, she bolted out the car, into the house, and into her room. I was confused. These were the times when I would miss Reyna the most. I wished that she was there to calm Piper down, or better yet take her to the sleepover.

As I was wallowing in self despair, I heard my mother come in. I felt so relieved. She had moved in after Reyna died to help take care of Piper. "Hey Mom," I greeted her. "What's wrong," she asked. "How did you know something was wrong?" I asked. "I'm a mother. I know these things," she said. And with that I explained the whole sleepover dilemma. We sat in silence for about five minutes before she spoke up. "Do you ever think that this family is incomplete?" she asked. "Why would I think that?" I asked, "You're there, I'm there, Piper's there." She sighed, "So you never think that she needs a mother?" We sat in silence for another two minutes. I sighed and said "We live once, we die once, we get married once, and we love once." (AN: Direct quote from the movie. I don't own it) With that she got up to prepare dinner, and left me in my own thoughts.

Piper (Grace) POV

I was so upset. I couldn't stop crying. I didn't even know that people could be so cruel. As soon as I got home, I bolted into my room and locked my door. I didn't want to talk to anyone. After a few hours, I stopped crying, but was still upset. Suddenly, I had an idea. Whenever I was upset, I would look through my mother's old stuff. I quietly sneaked into my father's room, and opened his closet door. I pulled out the old box. Inside there were pictures and possessions of my mother. I took out one of the pictures. It showed my mother's smiling face. Wow, I thought, she was beautiful. No wonder dad misses her so much. I took put another picture. It was of her and dad. He looked so happy. It was the happiest I had ever seen him. I was about to take out another picture, when something caught my eye. It was a piece of paper. It said in big letters: TO PIPER. HAPPY BIRTHDAY! LOVE MOM. I was so curious. I couldn't resist it. I picked it up, and unfolded it. It read:

Dear Piper,

Happy Thirteenth Birthday.

I abruptly stopped reading. This was meant for my thirteenth birthday. I was only eleven. But again, my curiosity got the best of me.

I wish I was here to see you. I bet you are very beautiful, and look just like your father.

I frowned. No, I thought, I look like you. Even though I had my father's hair and eye color, I had my mother's face and tanned complexion. But, I kept on reading.

Today I am going to tell you a story. I think you will be old enough to understand. This story is about your father, me, and Piper.

I looked up confused. Piper? I thought confused. Who is Piper? But before I could continue on reading, I heard my grandmother calling me for dinner. Crap, I thought. I started putting everything back into the box. I was about to put the letter in, but decided against it. I decided to take it with me. After all it is technically mine. I placed the letter in one of my drawers, and ran down the stairs.

At dinner, I ate as fast as possible. I was so obsessed with what that letter said. My dad was trying to make conversation with me, but I was too focused on the letter. As soon as I was finished, I ran up to my room and grabbed the letter, but again I was interrupted before I could start reading. This time it was my dad. He opened my door, and I hid the letter under my pillow. "Hey Piper," he said.

"Hey Dad. What's wrong"

"Nothing, I just wanted to see if you are okay."

"Oh I'm fine"

"Really?"

"Absolutely. It's getting late I should get to bed"

He eyed me suspiciously. But eventually he wrapped me in a big hug, and said, "I love you. Goodnight."

"I love you too."

"And if you need to talk to me or something, don't be afraid to ask"

"Sure dad."

With that he left the room, and I sighed with relief. I pulled out the letter, and continued to read.

This story is about your father, me, and Piper.

Who is Piper, she was about to find out.
